  1. Shh you! (Its bad manners to edit a quote you know )
  2. My little Honda does similar. But it is definitely related to weather conditions with mine. On warm, dry, still days it is perfectly happy doing 65-70mph. On cold, damp/humid or wind days it can struggle to get to 60mph. Wind is the biggest thing, then dampness/humidity. On cold dry days it can be ok, once it's warmed up completely. Also worth checking if you have water/liquid in your crankcase/airbox breather tube.
  3. If you are ok with spending a bit of money, I absolutly love my Alt-Berg boots. Ok they are not sporty looking, but really comfortable, good protection all round, never let in water and I can walk about in them all day if need be.
  4. Indeed! May be why I'm having a meeting in a couple of weeks to see if I can get my money back from the pension, or at least, pay less into it. Came back to the conclusion that I'd rather spend my well earned money now.
  5. Yea, being old now means you can more than likely retire and still enjoy life. I'll be lucky if I get to retire before die. :-/ (bit morbid, I know..) But anyway, you are only as old as you feel/act. Age is only a number, keep smiling and doing all the fun stuff you enjoy for as long as your body and mind are fit for it
  6. You mean yours dosn't fog up 3 seconds after you have put it down? Mine is a nightmare :-/
  7. I do joke that I had the only reliable Clio known to man. 105000 miles before stuff starting going on it (and even then it was drivable when I traded it in). Not sure if she/you have kids. But a work colleague had a juke for around a year. Ended up changing it as it was such a hassle getting kids in kid seats in the back. She change it for an Audi Q3 Quattro...
  8. The ST's are mental cars! I'm possibly going to get mine resprayed that lovely yellow orange colour if I am still happy with it after a few years Really love the colour, but not the ride of the ST I like my comfort! How about a Mitsubishi Lancer? Another car I liked, and has that sporty edge to it. The Lexus CT is another I tried. Boot is a little small, but it's something a little different and very plush inside. Of course, might be higher servicing costs as it is a lexus. I also looked at the Fabia VRS (newer ones only come in petrol DGS = Boo!) and the Skoda Rapid Spaceback. If you are not badge proud you can get an awful lot for your money with them.
  9. If she is still open to trying other cars I'm really enjoying my ford focus. The Ecoboost petrol engines feel fantastic to drive, and get decent mpg. the 1.6 one I have is averaging around 44mpg, which I think is fine for a 150hp family sized car. The 1l 125hp version also gets great reviews, and are more numerous than the 1.6's. Gets slightly better mpg as well. The whine from the turbo is rather addictive... I'm not sure about the diesel versions however, didn't test drive any of them. The Leon is another car I was looking at, very nice to sit in and drive. But for the money the focus I found has more toys and less miles on it.
  10. I loved the look of the Juke when it first came out, but they feel rather cramped inside (and I am not tall) and hear the mpg/size of tank is rather pitiful. I also think they look a bit alien with all their lights on at night. Bit of a strange set up. The DS3 is a lovely car, so long as you don't mind 3 doors and possibly a mad coloured/patterned roof. Never driven one though. I did come close to buying a DS4... it was stunning with it's red and black leather interior. Didn't buy as I could not find a petrol version in the spec I wanted Conversely, I hate insignias. They always seem to try and hit me of run me off the road! Well done for getting rid of it!
  11. Basically rooting allows you to take full control of the OS and delete those apps that come along with the "skinned" versions of android that Sony, Samsung, HTC and other put on their own phones. It also allows apps to run various services that are normally blocked to them for various reasons.
  12. I rooted my old samsung cause I was fed up of the bloatware. You shouldn't need to root and change it drastically from what the manufacture intended to get it working quickly in my mind. Stock Android, or cyanogenmod for me. Although I have heard good things about OxygenOS. Also, Samsung screens tend to give me a sore head. I find them far to vibrant or something. Sony phones are rather nice if you don't mine the sony apps being there. Bit less intrusive than Samsung I found.
  13. I'm another Nexus user. Had the 4, now have the 5. Both are excellent phones and not full of bloatware like the Sony and Samsung ones. I know a few folk with One Plus phones that they rave about. Must say, I'd look at one if I need to change my Nexus for what ever reason. Problem with battery life? Get an Anker. I've used mine for years and would not be without it. Never need to worry about having a low battery or trying to find a plug socket
  14. Yup. I went out to practise everything. Big roundabouts, small roundabouts, ones with weird cambers, roundabouts on steep hills... There are loads of roundabouts here! Also went out to practise hill starts and stopping on uneven road. Practise, practise, practise and you'll gradually feel better about it. Don't rush it.
  15. Looks lovely, and really comfy. Enjoy!
  16. I don't have one on my bike either. It is pretty easy to tell what gear you are in. And if I get it wrong, it quickly let's me know!
  17. Personally I like a good gaming pc and/or a playstation. I've not upgraded to the PS4 yet, as my ps3 is still working and I'm using my pc for gaming more these days. Reason for not choosing and XBox? I've never liked their controllers and the PS3 came with BluRay player I'm on my 2nd PS3. Had the original 60gb version, which I melted the solder on the motherboard accidentally due to being pretty much stuck in the house due to snow for 6 weeks. At the time I used it for everything - watching TV/catch up, movies and gaming so it was on for probably around 8-14hrs a day! Skyrim was the main culprit though
  18. Personally, I wouldn't depends on it. Crowd GPS needs a high density of people using the same thing, in the same area for it to work correctly - https://www.thetrackr.com/faq If I was going to put a tracker on my bike, it would be a real GPS one, so I don't have to count on other people using the same technology as me to be passing it to know where it is.

    VR

I've played around with Google Cardboard and found it pretty good. Problem with me is that I have odd eyes (one long slighted and one short sighted) so 3D like this gives me a major headache!
  20. Advice? I didn't actually use the rear break, if I did it was hardly anything. I just rested my foot on the leaver, didn't push down. Test guy mentioned it was one of the best emergency stops he has seen, went through the trap over 50KPH and stopped in less than the average for that test centre. So yea, just make it look like you are using it, worked for me
  21. I've been using the WD40 chain lube and cleaner, but has any tried the chain wax? Does it make less mess than the chain lube? I'm probably simply not practised enough at putting on chain lube, but when I put it on it looks like there is barley any there. Then I go out and it is flicked up all over my number plate/Lplate/back wheel :-/ Wondering if the wax would be better?
  22. Welcome back! Personally I don't think I could go to having just a bike. Even when I commute in by bike, I still see it as using the bike for enjoyment rather than to get from A to B. Having no choice between car and bike I think It would quickly become less enjoyable in horrible weather!
  23. My bike pretty much always has creamy oil just now. On my 7 mile commute it simply doesn't get up to temperature for long enough to burn off all the moisture in the air it sucks in. During the summer it is much better, still occasionally does it on short runs or cold days. Apparently it is completely fine, but the garage and various other people recommend an oil change when the outside temperaturr stays higher. I'll probably do an oil change next month, in the hope we stop getting near 0°C mornings.
  24. Personally, I would recommend that what ever you do to beef up security. Try and not make it obvious from the outside. Think from the theifs point of view. All garages look the same = garages all have same security so probably the same kind of stuff in them. If one garage in the street has bolts and door stoppers and obvious alarms and cameras, then the theif if going to know there is something valuable in there.
