1. Not yet. Hopefully soon though. Have been having an eBay clear out and selling old toys. Will still be a budget bike but should have £1500 ish to spend soon without any dent in the house renovation budget, so will start looking in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy the search... I didn't find it easy to find anything to follow on from the GS. The DRZ worked as it was completely different, as well a good laugh on local roads. I'd be up for ride when you got something.

Hi mate. Welcome in

Just saying Hi

Hi Rob. All the best with the CBT What are you planning to do after that? Ride a 125 for a bit, or go straight for the full licence?
5. Leave at 7pm. Back by 11pm. Everyone's tucked up inside watching TV, leaving the long cool evenings and the roads free for riding
6. +1 for pinlock all year round. When I fitting, I put a tea towel on the kitchen table first, and the stretch the visor out with the towel underneath, to stop it getting scratched.
7. Just noticed this on the eurotunnel.com site: Might be a good time to get your tickets now.
8. Happy birthday mate.
9. Tiger 800? It's fairly dainty.
10. gogs01 S-Westerly I tried out the 1200 a couple of years ago, and didn't really take to it; it was just too big for my liking, and didn't feel at home on small roads. Then last year I took out the 950S. What a great bike I guess it just suited me well - not too tall, it felt light and easy to tuck into corners, but big enough to feel stable and comfy on the motorway too. But I really wanted cruise control (so no to the 950) but I couldn't really afford it (or the eye-watering service costs) so head ruled over heart and I got the Tiger instead.
11. Me too. It's awesome
12. Crossing my fingers for you mate.
13. A great day The B6047 was just about my favourite road in the UK until they did that. The 50 limits haven't really made it to Suffolk so far, but it's just a matter of time.
14. If you've got some ideas in mind, it might be worth check out how they'd fit you on https://cycle-ergo.com/. You pickt the bike, enter your height, select the "put feet on ground" option and it'll show you a graphic that will give you an idea of how near the ground your feet are going to be. As a beginner, I'd think you'd want to have your feet reasonably near the ground, more like https://i.imgur.com/4D4Kz30.png' alt='IMGUR>'> than https://i.imgur.com/hElzukn.png' alt='IMGUR>'>
15. It started Got some redex, poured some in the tank, sloshed it around, tried the ignition and it started like it'd never done a thing wrong. Happy happy happy.

Total novice

Your plan is a good one. Get the CBT now and commute on L plates on a 125. You can decide later whether to do DAS in one go, or whether to take it in stages.
17. You've had your licence since the date you passed the CBT, and it's a provisional licence.

smallfrowne is this like yours mate?
19. Awesome replies - ta. I will prod around as suggested above at the weekend.
20. Don't that one too. And had the bike recovered. It's got a tap. Tried it on ON and RES. Stu I'll try warming the plug.
21. I'm not trying to defend the government one bit - they've lost the plot when it comes to keeping much integrity together - but using the 7-day rolling average here isn't very fair since it is always changing. Last week Sweden was the at the top, this week it's the UK, a few weeks ago it was Spain, and so on. Like looking at which team won the most league points this week, it doesn't tell you who's at the top of the table. A bit more fair is the all-time deaths per million, which is currently looking like this: This is about the best we can do for whose at the top of the league, but even this isn't a fair comparison, as different countries have very different ways of counting (for example, Belgium include everyone who died with any respiratory symptoms, and I'm not sure who Brazil and Ecuador are including - and nor are they). Also, each country is at a different stage of the outbreak: some are coming to the end (of the first wave) while other are just beginning to be engulfed by it. Apart from singling out Germany, who have clearly done an amazing job - it's going to be a while before anyone can say with any honesty what the figures mean. Of course, the journalists, who are much less interested in what the figures are saying than in what they are saying, don't like to point that out.
22. It's the DRZ. Last time I rode it was in March or the end of February - a very wet ride, if I remember right. Since then it's been holed up in the garage. Came to start it yesterday. Plenty of juice in the battery, engine turned over just as it should, but not a cough or a splutter, just the sound of the starter motor. I wasn't sure if the fuel was low, so I went got some fresh petrol and filled the tank at to about half-full. Tried again, this time for a long time. Whirr, whirr, and a bit of a splutter. I tried with some choke, without choke, with a bit of throttle, without any throttle, but just the same. I left it, in case the engine was flooded, and tried again a couple of hours later. It coughed and coughed and almost seemed like it was going to fire, but no. There was a distinct smell of unburned fuel coming from the exhaust, so I'd guess fuel delivery is ok. I'm trying to cover all the easy things before I take it to the shop... so next I've got some Redex coming, just in case the fuel has got damp in it - it was pretty wet back in February and I left the tank nearly empty. After that, any ideas what a bloke with a two-spanner competence level could try out?
23. You can take the test on a 125, and then you don't need to do the CBT ever again.
24. Buy a 2nd hand Jap. bike.
25. RoSPA do observed rides (where you get feedback on your riding) and all you pay is £10 or £20 a time to cover your observer's costs. You can opt to take the test, for about £60 or £70, but you don't need to. Of course, nothing's happening at the moment...
