1. This "click once and click again one second later" thing is the best advice you will get on the hazard perception test. Experienced drivers tend to click too early, before the start of the window when the click scores a mark. If you happen to do this, then the second click will bag you the point.
2. If you feel you've got on ok with your instructor on the CBT, why not chat to him about DAS and which approach would be best for you as your leaving after the CBT? They will have watched you ride and seen how you got on and will have a good idea of which approach will work best for you.

4. I went over to Vashon Island, one day when I was in Seattle. There's an Orthodox monastery there that I went to visit. Later that week I visited Bainbridge Island which was great too. I tried to like Seattle, but couldn't find the will to succeed. But the islands in Puget Sound were wonderful.

6. So I had my first geniune Smidsy yesterday except they weren't sorry, given that they never saw me at all. I was going coming home going along a nice empty NSL road. Lots of bends, beautiful weather. Home is just 10 minutes away. Then, coming up to this junction a black car drove up on the side road on the right as I was approaching, just where the blue car is in the picture. I was a bit cautious and wound the speed back to about 50, but then I saw them stop at the junction and I assumed they'd seen me, but I held back on going any faster, thinking I'd clear the jucntion first. They waited a second or two, until I had come to within just of them, and then they pulled out right in front of me. Lots of braking, and a little skitter of the heart followed, along with some conscious clearing of any red mist. I guess I'm lucky this is the first time someone's done a completely blind I-pull-out-and-you-die manoevre (how *do* you spell that word?) on me.
7. The main one in Cambridge now only opens from 9-5. Perhaps they take an hour off for lunch have a half day on Wednesdays too, I don't know.
8. It's true that the sign is obligatory, and failure to observe it is an offence that can result in a PCN. But to prove that the driver failured to observe the sign, the prosecutor would need to provide evidence that the other vehicle had had to alter its course or speed as a result of the course taken by the OP's brother's vehicle. I can imagine it's possible to provide camera evidence that the other vehicle had slowed down or perhaps even stopoed. But it's going to be hard to prove that they hadn't stopped out of courtesy, or for some other reason. Yet in these cases, no infraction of the sign has taken place.
9. Cheers Mr Fro. I'd thought about a noddy day, and they look great, as they set up visible markers for you and everything. But I thought it would be all guys arriving with sports bikes on trailers I hadn't thought it might actually be the other way round. And for sure Snetterton would be a lot easier to get to. Ok, I'll take another look and read up a bit more. Sorry Tankbag - might not see you there after all. If I don't go, it would be great to read how you got on there.
10. It had crossed my mind, but I reckon the chances of binning the bike are really very very low. I'm too old and too cautious to go crazy crazy. And it sounds loads safer than the nurlblingring.
11. Cheers, that sounds like a good tip. I read your write - ta - very useful
12. Next year Beefy. I'll buy you a burger.
13. I'm thinking of signing up for this road-bike-only track day at Donnington Park in August: http://www.msvtrackdays.com/bike/calendar/2018/aug/17-dp-rbo/ I like the idea of the road bike only tihng as they sound a lot more relaxed that general trackdays; even novice-only days sound like they're aimed at proto racers on sports bikes. Whereas I'm looking for something for a short old geezer on a Beemer. Looks like this is the nearest thing Any tips? Any advice? Any last wishes?
14. Congratulations on the pass Like above, go sit on them and see which you like. Also check out the insurance costs. The MT07 is different from the others: it's probably more of an all-rounder. It would be great for commuting or longer rides; you could even tour comfortably on it. And of course you could commute or tour with the sports bikes, but that's not what they do well. What these ones are really good at is: giving a very engaging ride, going fast, looking gorgeous and wailing like banshee. In my view, the Daytona scores best overall on these measures, but the GSXR is probably the more comfortable, and easier to ride.
15. Very nice mate. You must be chuffed.
16. I agree with you Smee. Given that the Highway Code says It leave you wondering what to do when "markings indicate otherwise". If you try to follow the guidance above in your case, you end up with a right indicator on while moving to the left. Seems to me that this isn't a great approach.
17. This bit is odd. I can't imagine that this is about a speeding offence.
18. Congratulations on the pass! Like Beefy says, no need to do your CBT again, but you can't just stick L plates on a 500cc and ride off into the sunset. To practice on a 500, you have to go out with an instructor. Since the A2 test is exactly the same as the A1 (i.e. two modules: one off-road and one on-road), it should be simply a matter of doing one or two lessons and then the tests.
19. Perfect - thank you! As for why we'll there's this new section of average 50mph speed limit on my commute and its soo dull! I've mastered riding with no hands (cornering too) at that speed but it feel awkward them not doing anything so I thought I'd try rubix cube. Cheers guys Naughty boy.
20. I've got some free time on Sunday afternoon, and since it's the world cup final, I thought the time was a ripe for a ride. Starting from somewhere around Cambridge 4 ish. Back 7 - 8ish. Anyone care to join in?
21. I don't have a bucket list, but if I did, the Carpathians would be on it
22. The place is named after the tree. Enjoy it, Mr Goat. Remember that the UK and the US are two nations divided by a common language... I reckon that the US is far more foreign to us Brits than any country in Western Europe. I found once I just accepted that it was unlike anywhere in Europe, it became a lot easier to understand the place.
