1. *sob* no bike. Another time for sure.
2. Wanna buy my gs?
3. I don't know the show, but tbh it looks a bit shite. If you're going for the trade stands, this is what's promised: ... which seems like the making of a not very great event. But if you're going along with mates, then that might be half the fun of the day.
4. Thank you, Prof. Fastbob
5. That's a good start, but don't forget about your skin too; you'll miss it if it all gets peeled off on the tarmac. What about a leather jacket and kevlar-lined jeans? Only thing is that it might be a bit cool for this time of year.
6. You can't miss the sink...
7. I wouldn't normally repeat my daily clutch of spam mail here, but this offer seemed unusual - good discounts on Gore-Tex gear. http://www.getgeared.co.uk/collection/Clearout-GoreTex?utm_campaign=ggnews20171212
8. So the rule is: But you can't ride (or insure) this kind of bike with just a CBT (which allows you to ride only a 125cc with 'L' plates), so you will need to take your test through a school. Nothing to stop you doing your learning yourself on a 125 if you want, but if you can afford, I'd recommend taking lessons with the school too; a decent school will teach you well right from the start, and you will need some time get used to the weight and power of the bigger bike.
9. I remember the after my day CBT... The instructor sat me on an ENORMOUS 500* and I followed him for 15 miles on an NSL dual carriageway thronging with cars and vans that were swarming and weaving like things possessed. I eventually reached a personal best of 65mph, but it felt like flying through the outer circles of hell on a fire-breathing metal stallion. *ok, a normal-sized 500
10. bast*rd. The thing miss most about Colorado is the weather. And the mountains. And the skiing. And the ribs. And ahhh bast*rd.
11. The odds of being injured in an accident are pretty similar. But the odd of being killed in an accident are much more if you're on a motorbike than on a bicycle. I guess that's because a greater proportion of cycle accidents are at low speeds.
12. I thought this was pretty good. £100 for Oxford 1 piece leathers. Size 40 only. http://www.megamotorcyclestore.co.uk/oxford-rp-3-rp-3-1-one-piece-leather-motorcycle-race-suit-black-fluorescent/
13. It's a stick. Nice though. Nice bike, too, someone Congrats!
14. My Christmas tree set up dips. There's even software so you can set the brightness on dipped and main beam. Sadly no phone app - that would be cool.
15. In theory, no, one bright source is just as good. But it's easier to add another light, as you can add a circuit in parallel, and so no one circuit has to carry a high current. This means you can use standard, cheaper components to make the lights. Another advantage is that if you have different lights you can easily point them in slightly different directions; to get the same effect from a single light you would need a more expensive custom lens.
16. Yes, it's got a rad. I reckon my GS is about the first ever to get a radiator leak. The light on the GS is excellent. But my commute is now loads of miles on twisty unlit roads with no cats eyes and lots of unpredictable bends, and all that makes for a watertight excuse for buying some aux lights. It looks like a very fast Christmas tree now
17. No, they're not going to rub; everything is nicely tied down and away from the suspension and the bars. I was concerned about the heat; I wasn't sure if the wiring loom would be ok up to 100C, but it sounds like that's not an issue - good news; thanks!
18. Help please! I'm wiring up some auxiliary lights, and after about 10 hours of fiddling and the like, I've managed to get everything sorted out with the wires tidily away and not interfering with the movement of the bars or anything like that. But now I've noticed that I've managed to pass the wires just inches away from the hoses that connect the engine to the radiator. Is this a problem? The thing is I don't know if I can find a way to thread the wire up from that battery by another route Advice? Cheers
19. Hi Lat. Mobius 2 is a good budget option. Records in 5 or 10 minutes slots, and then writes over the oldest when the card is full. You can set it up so that it's always recording when it's on, which makes it easy to use as a dashcam. If you choose to fix it to the bike, you can also run it directly off the bike's battery so there are no batteries to recharge.
20. 2nd hand on ebay you can get some good kit at good prices. I reckon it's best for textiles, as the fit is more forgiving. Harder for leathers and boots, as they need to fit well. Buy the lid new. I'd really recommend getting it from a shop where they'll help you find a lid that's the right size and that fits.
21. Yeah, wear it til it fits. I reckon that if you can get it on and off, and it doesn't give you a headache, then it's not too small.
22. What make is it? Some of the expensive brands do a service where you send it away and they will x ray it or something so you can be sure. I think Arai do it for free, but I'm not sure.
23. That sounds awesome
24. Wow. What an amazing opportunity! Here's my tuppence worth: once you're up out of the Florida panhandle - or soonish after- then turn left and go west, young man. Don't give up too much time to crossing the prairie - the vast space to the east of the Rockies. Broadly speaking, from the Rockies to the Pacific is where it's at in terms scenery. June is a great time to go; the mountain passes should all be open before the end of the month and summer will just be beginning. And by September, Alaska will be in the full throes of Autumn. Camping: know about what to do to avoid encounters with bears, and what to do if you bump into one.
