  1. On the centre stand, the bike suspension is 'relaxed' and if the chain is set to 1/4 inch vertical displacement, then it will vastly different in 'normal use' - How does it say the tension should be checked (when on the centre stand)? There is a You-Tube vid of 'seeting motorcycle chain tension) which is quite informative.
  2. Note to doo wit skool - Simmply basec Englsuh Skils. PS. There is a speelcheeker tool on the post (befuor yo seend it).
  3. But is it? The tension should be set with the bike loaded - i.e. lay across the seat and check the tension (or get someone else to check with you sitting on the bike). Over-tensioned chain can cause a 'rattle'.
  4. Ok - Agree with most responses but have one question:- Why would you wish to be 'unseen' when on a motorcycle?
  5. The Closet ? in these barren times who knows Sorry - That was one spelling error too many for today!
  6. as above and glad you have taken this on board as friendly advice - not critism. An 'Emergency Stop' is what is required in an Emergency - This situation should never have been an 'Emergency'. You need to think ahead and plan for the car to stop at the crossing (the tell-tale signs were there - ped's waiting. Now if you were riding along and a large block of stone suddenly fell from the sky in front of you.... That would require an Emergency Stop. Ride safe.
  7. Know what you mean about a warm (bl@@dy hot) engine! Did just short of 400 miles on Monday morning (set off at 6:30am in the fog!). All the way down to Walmer Castle via various others and back via Berhempstead Castle. Another group completed and a new group started. Traffic around Dover / Folkstone was manic - roadworks did not help! However, I'm getting used to filtering on t'Rocket - it is a big beast!
  8. Hadleigh Castle Walmer Castle St Leonards Tower Eynesford Castle Berkhempstead Castle 'Eastern group' completed.
  9. Shop in St. Ives is 'while you wait' and charged me £10 last time (PR3 - Rear on the 1250 Bandit) - Included balancing and valve. Nb. I bought the tyre on-line and had it delivered direct to them.
  10. NOTD this am goes to the BMW (how unusual!) driver who decided that he would pull to my right (at a roundabout) and then try and out-accellerate me into a single (straight on) lane. Good job his brakes work (NB. His indicators don't!). I left him in the fumes from my exhausts ( a disappearing dot in my mirrors). As I mentioned before, the Rocket does try to 'wheelie' when you pull full throttle in 2nd!
  11. Have you tried the Honda owners forum?
  12. Plus my 000% 'facilitator fee'.
  13. Interesting thought Throttled old mate but.... If you happen to live in/near one of the major cities, you would be able to 'grab' quite a few in a very short time/distance, whereas if you live in the 'wilds', then you would be seriously disadvantaged. The main idea behind the 'challenge' is to get as many folk as possible 'going places' that they would never of thought of before, using as many 'biker routes' as possible. I have been asked (and agreed) to 'sort' the 2017 challenge and I am already collecting various 'new' things/places to 'tag' - All suggestions are welcome (although I do reserve the right not to use them if I don't want to) and I may even use the 'Member Location Map' to add some on the 'regular challenge taggers' doorstep so to speak. i.e. a Bus stop outside of Stu's house! Please keep the suggestions coming - it all helps.
  14. OK but not as good as the original.
  15. A Ford Mustang V8 (with a bit of welding).
  16. Purchase a second-hand 'Ting Net' from fleabay. Attach to the rear of your 'pipe' and start the engine. Once you have caught the 'Ting' in your net, dispose of carefully and re-sell the net on Fleabay. The only hazard is that you may have a family of 'tings' (they do breed quite quickly) and catching them all can take several minutes!
  17. Put them back in the same order and the correct way round! Also remove (with a lint-free cloth) any 'sludge' or 'bits' from the area where the clutch sits.
  18. Don't go ... I agree with you. When we joined the common market it was for trade not to make our laws and tell us what we can and can't do , and do the out brigade really think no one will trade with us if we leave Furthermore, using your analogy, you obviously do not accept our Goverment imposing laws on you that you do not agree to! The EU process is 'democratic' albiet not completely 'fair' - Is Malta complainimg? They only get 0.9% of the vote on any EU legislation! We get the smae as Germany and France. No-one is stopping anyone from oving out of the Uk to live in a 'non-european' country (although that country may not allow you to stay!).
  19. Don't go ... I agree with you. When we joined the common market it was for trade not to make our laws and tell us what we can and can't do , and do the out brigade really think no one will trade with us if we leave This has absolutely nothing to do with the 'Common Market'. Nor do we have to accept any 'Rules' that are issued - We (UK) have a choice as to whether we accept or reject EU 'Rules' (example 'border controls'). To vote 'in' or 'out' on such misinformation is crazy! "What did the Romans ever do for us?"
  20. Use a couple of 1/2 x 2 pieces of wood to wedge the tank up 1/2 inch - You should then be able to spot any problems (you could even use an inspection mirror).
