  1. Yeah using your own scooter for the CBT seems a bit of hassle, I'm never sure how the insurance works out for that stuff either as you will be riding it on the road prior to getting your CBT in the afternoon. If it's only a five minute walk, I'd just jolly there use their bike (it's not going to be a million miles in difference from yours) then jolly back home have a cup of tea and then go out on yours.
  2. Unseen, I am impressed you're taking all of this on board and working on improving your riding and foreplanning. We don't want to see you smeared across the road, so remember there's a time and place for a bit of light hooning
  3. So this year I am legally allowed on motorways so am aiming to go. http://www.therideofrespect.co.uk/ring-of-red-m25" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I believe there is also one happening around the M60 for our Northern friends!
  4. Here's their ebay store http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Baby-Biker-And-Motorcycle-World" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; theres a bazillion links half way down the side for Kids lids, gloves, leatehrs etc
  5. Yup what Bonio said. The instructor wants to see how you ride, waiting for a gap big enough for both of you will be seen as hesitancy. The radio comms stretch quite far so if the instructor properly loses sight of you he will just ask you to stop somewhere safe so he can catch up. (make sure you stop somewhere with good visibility and not 2cm behind a car!)
  6. Very nice saw one of these the other day and love the square headlight
  7. IIRC the sunlight thing is a bit of a myth with modern materials. The wear is from pulling it on and off several hundred times and compresses the inner foam parts (which can be replaced). But obviously if you drop the lid then that can damage the outer foam bits and you should replace immediately. And why you shouldn't buy second hand lids as you can't tell how knackered the actual impact absorbing stuff it. Also your lid should be tight (not painful, but snug) as if there's too much movement between head and lid that's bad.
  8. Oh yeah don't let the examiner out too, less time he spends being able to see you the less he can fail you on
  9. Run this past your instructor.. it will either be fine or they will see it as unnecessary and taking yru eyes off the road for too long and I'm not sure which way it will go
  10. Wow - apart from the speeding fine (tsk tsk ) sounds like an awesome trip! I am insanely jealous. Again
  11. Well as he is clearly the devil, it's some kind of black magic. He uses it to suck all the grip out of Rossi's tyres and gives it to himself.
  12. I do frequently take pics of my bike outside random pubs and castles just in case
  13. I think being on the roads is more nerve wracking than the Mod1 as there are other people that can mess it up for you! but you'll be fine. Just remember lifesavers lifesavers lifesavers and know the speed limits and you'll be grand. Take a few nice big breaths before you set off on the test to flush the adrenaline out your system
  14. Oooh I'm getting excited for everyone! Good luck everyone!!
  15. Nice! That grin on your face says it all!!
  16. Nice one Peaches onwards to DAS now

    No drive...

That is bloody clever and sounds like something I bloody need. Can find the gf's sense of humour easier than neutral. Kwaks are amazing
  18. Paging Spanner, come in Spanner
  19. Well it's going to be one of those people you do f*** off in that 5% of time that will probably be the literal death of you. I have had cars swerve at me, follow me by centimeters, pull along side and literally try and force me off the road and my crime was normally jumping the queue by filtering - safely - at a set of lights. People do not realise or care that they are in a literal death machine and as a biker you are so vulnerable already so why try to piss off people just to boast to some people on the internet? Surely you arriving home to your family rather than a couple of policemen turning up at 1am should be everyones goal here. If you are poo-pooing Bike Safe, get yourself on a track day learn how to ride at speeds in a safe environment and keep it there rather than on the roads.
  20. Hey Ben, I can't comment on how serious that is as I'm not a tester! However is there a possibility you were going a bit quicker than usual due to adrenaline? My test all passed in a bit of a blur! I think generally going a bit slower is better than too quick. But I think you need to have a chat with your instructor, go do a few roundabouts with him if possible see what they say. Remember you are paying them for a service and you are allowed to voice concerns! Also I'm pretty sure the quota thing is a myth no?
  21. Run by a nutter who likes to take unsuspecting people through 4 foot of water and is slowly converting everyone to 125s I hear (that's gonna cost me isn't it... )
  22. We do call it that (lmrc) there's a Facebook group but all the rides are arranged on Meetup. Group sizes average between 15 - 25 and always a lot of fun
  23. Omg Alex de Angelis was SO HAPPY. One of my favourite podiums across all races this year
  24. Good, it increases my stopping distance and im still running mine in. Dongle to kill abs will be ordered asap Oh I was being sarcastic I'm not really sad I don't have it Actual lolz
  25. ooh ooh you know what is my favourite? People opening their doors in traffic! Sadly I don't have ABS - pukka or otherwise - so I just ride slower Also I don't filter on double whites ever because that seems silly.
