Labour is going to be between 50 - 60 quid an hour I'd imagine
  6. sounds like they're a decent school. I get you want to try learn yourself but a good school will TEACH you how to do the basics and more importantly be safe. personally I'd try this second place, when I was learning to drive my first instructor was awful and I wanted to quit. Found a new instructor who was awesome and everything clicked into place.
  7. WHAT DID YOU DO
  8. bloody red bikes looks awesome Mr B
  9. I dunno how serious you are about this but... Without a valid CBT any insurance is invalid. Riding without insurance is dumb and if anything happens youre screwed. If you are going to do this you need to find private land and find a way to get the bike there legally ooor call another school see what they saaaay
  10. was this a twist and go or geared? kinda weird they made you pay for the damage I kinda thought that was built in to the cost and they recoup excess from the people who didn't fall off do they mean one on one lessons and do they expect you to pay again? might be worth phoning another school in the area telling them what happened and see what they say
  11. I took the optional ride extension last year. good roads
  12. with the number plate you can run it through the gov vehicle check to see if it's MOT 'd and taxed. if it is yay, if not it's either in a shed or gone to the great scrapheap in the sky https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk

  19. First I find out you have a real name, and now a real job....
  20. exactly what I was going to say! Just remember if the worst happens and the bike goes down and your foot is underneath of it, your ankle and calf are going to take a bashing! We won't start the whole all the gear all the time debate again *looks sternly at everyone* but you should at least be aware of what would happen if you went down the road and decide how much protection you want to wear. Also make sure your wife is aware / geared up, pillions often come off worse as they don;t have the benefit of the "oh shit" moment before that you can prepare yourself for a fall!
  21. keep at it!! this is the toughest hurdle and it's worth persevering
  22. your instructor should go through them with you. stuff like where's the horn, test the brake lights work (remember to test with both front lever and back!) you'll be fine
  23. I thought Bonio was mythical too but then he ruined it by having a real name
