  1. No, under 50cc it is a Moped. 50cc it becomes a motorcycle Legal definition is Mopeds have a maximum engine displacement of 49 cc Since we're playing technicalities.... 50cc would still be legal, it would need to be >50cc You said Motorcycle though
  2. I'd also add trying being smooth rather than quick
  3. Build up slowly, there's gonna be a few times early one where you anchor on whilst thinking 'NOPE'. You'll get a rhythm and you won't even think about it soon enough.
  4. I'm stopping at the Ram Jam petrol station I could meet you Rach but that makes my whole Journey 4 hours and ill probably be fooked when I arrive. I want to save myself for the ride out I think I'll take the more direct route for getting there.
  5. Channel 970 if you're on virgin media
  6. That's for bikes greater than 50cc.. dammit I edited the post, but you quoted me too fast
  7. All grooves of original tread pattern must be visible, does that mean the entire groove or just a fraction of the groove?
  8. It seems like the obvious answer is illegal, so on that basis it's probably legal on some technicality.
  9. I found this, someone seemed to have the same issue nearly 10 years ago! Hopefully there's something useful here; https://themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=11295
  10. I'm with Joe^^ Lessons wont hurt if you feel you need them, but if you come out of the CBT feeling fairly confident then just ride yourself until you're 24! They'll do all your teaching then and iron out any bad habits you may have picked up. A year on my 125 before doing my test probably helped me out quite a lot. Get a Japanese 125 second hand and in 18 months it will have barely depreciated, you'll make a small loss. Also with the insurance thing, my 600 sport is cheaper than my 125 was, this year .
  11. I will! there's plenty of lay-bys on the A1 so if I'm struggling I'll have a 5 min stop
  12. Ok I've planned a stop 10 miles before the meet for petrol . I've set myself a 70 mile stint without a stop, I'm a soft arse I can't normally do more than an hour without one
  13. I'll need to refill before we head out again too Rennie, I'll have to ask the bar staff for a close one I reckon.
  14. This is my route if anyone wanted to meet along the way! I'm leaving my house at 8am and making a McDonald's stop at some place called Tankersley and I'm planning a stop a bit further on too. http://i.imgur.com/U6YcuLM.jpg
  15. I believe so! That or ill be on my own for a few hours.
  16. That depends on how you feel and your experience, my school did a free 1 hour taster so they knew what we needed. My school recommended 1 day for each module and an extra day beforehand getting used to a big bike for anyone without experience on big bikes. The tests were seperate days but included, all for £700.
  17. They sound cheap and you couldn't get through a DAS round here for that, however we get a full days training rather than half days. I assume those 4 days aren't one after the other and you get a bit of space between each one?
  18. I need to try get the ride route on my phone.. and then hope the battery doesn't die getting me TO the start point... any volunteers for back up leader if I run out of juice on the way up (I do have a power thing on my bike it's just borked currently ) I'm bringing a small mobile charger, so if I haven't used it on my phone and you can borrow it just bring a usb lead for ya phone. Also I'm riding down the road we'll be setting off on, did a quick google maps and it looks a good stretch
  19. Its probably cheaper to buy a multimeter for a quick test! What's actually happening? Have you given the battery a full charge and rode it out?
  20. I used the iPhone app, it's good! Well worth the £4 anyway .
  21. I took Mossey out for Haslam
  22. £100 include the bike shown.
  23. I reckon you'd be ok on a MOD2 without training if you ride ok already. I passed mine with no training, however I reckon for MOD1 you will need some training unless you're a complete natural.
  24. Thanks. All better now.
  25. Yeh .. So My feelings hurt.
