    New Rider!

Hello and welcome . So how come your profile says that you have a Triumph Tiger if you have just passed your CBT and you have ordered a bike ? Maybe I'm missing something here .
  2. I know this won't be well received but the point of a test is to determine your suitability to be out on the road on a motorcycle . Failing this test might have just saved your life and possibly the lives of other road users and pedestrians . I'm sure you will succeed in the end if you are determined enough so don't give up .
  3. It looks like a breather pipe . It's probably just spitting out a bit of assembly oil and condensation . I wouldn't worry about it .
  4. I have a look at a map before I set off . If I'm going anywhere specific I get to within five miles or so and then stop for a cup of tea and consult my phone . Mostly though , know where I'm going or don't particularly care .
  5. I've never tried Morris Dancing but I have a sufficient grasp of what it entails to make a reasonably informed choice not to bother .
  6. It's a figure of speech .
  7. exactly where its always been... before you snowflakes panic about the prospect no electronic communications for 5 seconds or more .. There in the background a noise from a caveman, do you still recommend stone tyres? I don't know any that call coms essential or won't ride without. However it does make a more pleasant day, less time talking over coffee, the ability to make group decisions about stops, warn of the speed camera van, listen to music. Change routes and destinations at a whim, Frequent topics of conversation Next coffee, last coffee, the views and local peoples we pass, road hazards, ass hole drivers etc Nope, you're not selling it to me . I ride a bike to escape all that stuff .
  8. Sounds like hell on earth . Reminds me of these poor bast*rds who have to work on a laptop on trains when they could be meditating or just looking out of the window and noticing things . There's enough tech in everyday life to drive you round the twist without plugging it into your head when you're on your motorcycle .
  9. I drove to Worcester in my mate's car with Brian Blessed as the Sat Nav voice . And it was exactly as you would imagine it to be .
  10. Sounds sweet as a nut to me but I've got a Harley and an ER5 so everything sounds better . I saw an FJR 1300 go past last night and I found it hard to believe that it actually had an internal combustion engine .
  11. I’ll let you know Here you go @fastbob Not an electric one, but reckon it’d do the job - completely forgot I’d got it. You’re welcome to borrow it anytime you need. CBDAD413-7680-4321-9F03-2122A2A6E6F9.jpeg Ah , wrong terminology on my part . I've got two of those . I was thinking of one of these . The guy I used to borrow one off has moved away .
  12. I have two very similar that are about 15 years old maybe more I've got one that works on the same principle and it has never let me down but it's really bulky
  13. Having already broken a socket style stud extractor I spotted this on eBay . It's nice and compact and will hopefully fit on my exhaust studs . I didn't see it last time I searched so I think this is new on the market . Report to follow.
  14. I never liked the feel of Bridgestone's on the GSXR . As for the bike , looks like someone threw a magnet into a breakers yard .
  15. Just checking to see if you have an impact driver . Bloody hell, yes I do ( I think ) it was my Dads. I’ll have a look tomorrow!! Just keeping my options open in case my sprocket nut won't budge . I tend to get very nervous when I'm bouncing up and down on a piece of scaffolding especially when it was my GSXR clutch hub nut .
  16. I got a 36mm socket from Halfords ( see above ) Tightened up the chain & rear axle, put my foot on the rear brake lever & used a long breaker bar. Just checking to see if you have an impact driver .
  17. How did you get the front sprocket nut off ?
  18. Yeah that's the one .
  19. C'mon bob it's easy.. https://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-and-body-repair/specialist-and-decorative-paints/halfords-petrol-resistant-lacquer-300ml-768697.html Also, just because I'm posting, I wouldn't bother taking the barrels off. It picks up well from idle, the rattles go away, you don't seem to be choking on smoke.. There can't be much wrong with that!
  20. A little bit of custom art work !
  21. Technically that's correct but as the filament is enclosed in a glass bulb I think it's acceptable to call a lamp a bulb . Language is constantly evolving . Who cares Bright things that help you see in the dark So carrots they are then Further reading . https://www.gutenberg.org/files/30066/30066-h/30066-h.htm
  22. Lamps glow, bulbs grow. Technically that's correct but as the filament is enclosed in a glass bulb I think it's acceptable to call a lamp a bulb . Language is constantly evolving .
  23. For goodness sake ! I've just noticed that this thread is titled SIGHT disabilities . I thought it said SLIGHT disabilities ! ...... Which kind of begs the question, do I have a slight sight disability ? I'll get me coat . If I can find it .
  24. It might be in the way of the idle adjustment screw but that can be sorted . I've ordered a pair of carb rebuild kits that include jets , needles, gaskets and even floats and diaphragms all for the ridiculously low price of £8.07 . I haven't been disappointed yet by too good to be true Chinese stuff so let's hope this is no exception . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/383767415660 See if something like this would replace idle screw as longer than er5 one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184403629640 Yes , I've looked at those but I've also looked at putting it on the other side . It's not like you use it every day after all .
  25. Price of Fish and Chips . What's to lose ?
