See, I already know this is going to be controversial to say... But here goes. For those people who want to give Haggis a go, but are worried about the ingredients list, Macsween do a tasty vegetarian friendly Haggis which is Looooveeelllyyy It's only £3, so well worth the risk I think

God that's awful It's like a cats puckered ar*ehole. Slightly related note, the Parliaments Petition website has been crashing all day (is down at the moment) due to a brexit related petition causing too much traffic! all that tripe I will admit I've never eaten I've never tried Tripe, but I really don't think I would like it...

Oh my god! As long as there was a layer of gravy in there to make sure it wasn't going to dry out my whole face, that sounds pretty amazing to me! I have to say, one of my favourite low-effort dinner recipes is to use the roll out puff pastry sheet, and then adding a tomato sauce base and building it up like a pizza. Especially when made with buttery mash, it's sooo good!

I say we should just leave the European union on the date shown and be done with it, its not going to cause that much of a problem for us, I think its more that the eu are the more worried party as they will lose a big money provider and without us it would probably collapse .... What's everyone's Fav pies? To be fair I just love the pastry, short crust or home made puff

That would be the greatest thread. Seriously. No thread has ever been greater, believe me. And it would be full of beautiful words. I have the best words. Everyone says so. All other threads are Losers and Haters.
  8. Thank you for the advice! I do tend to talk to myself a bit, and I do tell myself to loosen up when i tense up a bit. I always feel like I’m going to slip And I’m sorry, but I can now imagine somebody just slumping off their bike because they don’t wanna take a corner I’ve been quite miserable with all of this, so thank you for making me laugh! I know just what you mean about talking to yourself when you ride, I'm looking forward to when you have your confidence back and tell us that you're now singing in your helmet too! I also constantly worry about slipping, especially mid-corner I worry about the tyres just losing their grip / connection to the road. I have to tell myself that I have to trust the bike, I have to trust that she will stay connected to the road and handle the corner. If nothing else, it's far less damaging (both for rider and bike) to lowside than highside midcorner! Personally, if I've really over cooked a corner and it's going to go tits up, I would much rather the bike fall on it's low side and we both slide until we stop, rather than snatching the brake / going stiff and the bike 'bucking' and high-siding! So just relax and put your trust in your bike. Added to this you will eventually get to know your bike so well, it will become second nature to react to how she feels and you'll recognise small quirks that will make you a better rider. Really glad I've made you smile, I know my wording was daft and I did consider changing it, but I know after my big horrible off, it was the love and the humor of this forum that got me smiling again and started the recovery from it all.

I can't find the original source unfortunately, but once I read a piece that analysed the inheritance Trump got, and opined that if he'd invested it in a fund that tracked the stock market he would have made more money. Found it @MarkW https://www.vox.com/2015/9/2/9248963/donald-trump-index-fund http://fortune.com/2015/08/20/donald-trump-index-funds/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/katestalter/2016/09/01/would-donald-trump-be-better-off-investing-in-stocks/#4b9201a7437b To be fair, a thread to laugh across the pond at Americas current politics seems far more fun that talking about Brexit. Apart from our new US citizen potentially turning up to defend his freedom!
  10. Loads of good advice already, just wanted to add one more comment to say that I'm really sorry you've had an off, that alone really sucks. I think I was 6 months in when I first binned mine and I remember the feeling after really really well. Like others have said, keep your head up; fixation is still something I find myself occasionally doing and it makes just a huge difference just to look that bit further down the road. My other little bit of advice, and I hope this isn't too controversial, is when you're finding yourself starting to panic just force your body to relax and 'slump' a bit. I've had two offs which were with corners, one was panic breaking and locking up the front which sent the bike and me cartwheeling, the other was a lowside on a roundabout where we both just slid a little. If I'm now entering a corner and start to worry I've gone in too hot (and so feel myself starting to stiffen up) I force myself to relax my whole body and 'slump' into the corner. Disclaimer: I do not mean go boneless and fall off ! Just relax yourself to lean your body. Going stiff will cause the bike to want to stand upright too. Final note, there are bikers that have dropped it and those who are yet to drop it. You're in good company here and you're not alone in how you feel. Most of us have been there at some point and I hope that helps to reassure you in your feelings about biking at the moment.

That's what happened with me they couldn't numb tooth, 2nd attempt I was also sedated which is really weird as I know you're not knocked out but have no memory of it. Anyway dentist referred me to hospital as I apparently swung for him when he tried to take it out as it wasn't numbed Yep the sedation used casues short term memory loss. Its usually midazalam. One of the reasons more than one dentist has ended up being secretly filmed molesting patients! On the plus side when its used for ‘twilight surgery’ (youre awake but only half awake) you dont remember the sounds of ‘orrible things like your bones being sawed through or any crunching noises Well I now have more reasons to be terrified of dentists! Cheers!
  12. It was a completely crap situation for you to be in and I hope you know me well enough to know my comments were putting no onus on you at all for the drop; in fact I was very impressed with your quick responses and was utterly gutted for you having to leave the ride. Though I do know that Jay really enjoyed the extra time to hang out with you back at camp and I hope this year we can have a chance to sit in a local cafe for a relaxed chat in the sun again.

In all honesty Smithers, there was a huge thread before the vote and I think everyone had their say in that, for better or worse! It's a really contentious issue which has already divided families up and down the country and this forum especially has people from a huge range of backgrounds, with their own life experiences which may differ drastically from one another. Effectively the topic is pretty toxic at the moment, no matter how you look at it and I think everyone just wants to avoid it by a very wide margin!

Use a nice Vanilla ice cream and if you have vanilla essence as well, a drop of that helps, then a handful of oreos and milk (I recommend blue lid). Damn... I really want one now too.

Dentists are up there in my top three fears. The one I had when I was a kid was Evil I tells ya, EVIL! I'm pretty boring but I Love Tomato... Same that I really enjoy a good Vanilla milkshake, really thick and really sweet (Or Oreo... God I miss Eds Shakes). In terms of biscuits, I'm pretty addicted to the Foxs Crunch Creams at the mo They are Sooo nice.
  16. Oh that was another thing - the endless bravado and zero-to-hero bullshit. And as for the dive forums... what a bunch of egotistical tossers. See this is pretty much the comments I've been worried about whenever I've considered the hobby before. The lines between the two teams and the mud slinging which occurs between them and the nobs you get in the hobby. Is this something you can do kinda casually? The reason I'm interested is for the last 5 years or so we go down to the very toe of Cornwall each year and almost live in our wetsuits, spending a lot of time at the beach, around the cliffs, either hiring Kayaks to go out in or just swimming from beach to beach around the coast. We have awesome full face snorkles from Tribord and tend to have flippers too. I Love this, we have easily spent hours and hours just swimming about looking at the sealife until we have sunstroke! So diving is something I'd love to do, however with talk about geardos and gatekeeping, I am pretty sure this wouldn't be an "Every weekend" hobby. I honestly don't actually know how far afield I would take the skills, at the moment I was purely thinking about around the UK trips, but now you guys have mentioned EU and further, I will admit that if I went on holiday somewhere tropical, this is most definitely something I would want to do while there. This doesn't leave me entirely sure on which route to go though PADI sound like a good option for pure training and then taking on international holidays, but it's sounding like BSAC has more of a community around it; especially for UK & EU trips.
  17. My front needed replacing at her last service, so I've had a 4GT fitted with the intention of changing over the rear too in a few months time (Other bills come first unfortunately!) Glad to hear you like them and hopefully I can add my review to the crowd after I've done some mileage.
  18. I will have more of a think when I get home, as we had to house train our last rescue cat, as her previous home had been pretty awful. However the main thing I can think of at the moment is Citrus smells, so we have a leftover spray which is strong Citronella (Like the lovely summer outdoor candles) and both my cats frigging HATE that smell, so stay well away.

    Today's crash

Sorry this is so late, but massively sorry for your off. It's always shite when the bike goes down, that much more when it wasn't even slightly your fault! Really glad the other party stopped and it's all being sorted. For this whole thread you've been so sensible about your gear situation. Just a quick thanks for actually saying "Probably my bad for having old gear". It would have been so easy for you to pass the blame off on the gear, even if the gloves didn't actually fail in their usable life. Proud likely isn't quite the word I mean, but I have a lot of respect for you putting your hand up (sorry) over this. I think your honesty has probably made a few members have another look at some of their older gear parts, which is a massive deal. Hope you heal quickly and really hope you have a verdict on your bike / insurance claim soon.

Classic thread round here tbh haha One of the many things I love about this forum, arguments rarely last long and it's normally just a light ribbing anyway (No dirty jokes intended!) Ah ha! Well these latest two games (Pikachu and Eevee) are remakes of Yellow (which was just red / blue anyway). They've just brought all the graphics up to date and changed the game play to be more like Pokemon Go, as you can link your phone game account to the Switch game as well! If you haven't got a Switch console in the house already, there's the added bonus that you can get one with pokemon decals : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Limited-Console-Pre-Installed-Pok%C3%A9mon/dp/B07HB8HKFM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1553071606&sr=8-1&keywords=switch+eevee Jay got me the Pikachu one for Christmas and I was over the MOON. Loads of other awesome games on the switch too, if you did want other recommendations.

No need to leave. Thread has moved on now anyways, water under bridge etc @Gin here it is! it's on my ankle. It's nearly 8 year old now I think! IMG_1061.jpg Eevee is so cute! Such a good choice From what you've said, I guess you haven't played any of the more recent games? If you did want to give one a go again (and you happen to have a Switch in the house) the latest "Pokemon Let's Go: Eevee" is a really great game, I think you'd like it. It's really easy to get into and as it's a bit of a remake of the originals, you don't need to be even slightly up to date with the franchise. Jay got me the PIkachu version for Xmas and I really love it

Pfft, don't leave, just don't name call if people disagree with you.... We have Six30 for the name-calling part of this forum as he's pretty imaginative at it! Just realise that we really enjoy helping one another on here, we like having a community where people can come forward with their questions or problems, however daft and get genuine advice with no mocking (Well, until beefy asks for help, then he's mocked mercilessly ). Basically we'd rather someone ask when they're worried about something on their bike, rather than risk riding a potentially dangerous machine because they're too scared to ask. Be the good you want to see the world, be excellent to one another blah blah...

Aye, most of my mates were lads too I think before teenage years I would enjoy going to a woodland and building dens when I could, but that was very much a "Weekend visiting cousins" activity. My bit of London didn't have many green areas and those that did exist were ruined by not so great people; even play parks got smashed up. Ok, so like you I love reading but, confession time, never read the LoTR books I know I should but really struggled to get into them last time I tried! I will give it another go this year. I didn't get into Warhammer into late teens really. Already well and truly been through my WoW stage by then. Now I have an awesome group of board game / computer game / warhammer mates that I love to bits . I can spend so long painting those stupid models... I love the idea of a Pokemon Tattoo! Is it in a decent enough place to show pics?
  24. Well you're an adventurous lot ( Specially you Beefy, loved the miniskirt), so I figure I'll ask for your wise advice. I've wanted to take diving courses for quite a while now, so in looking at clubs in my area I'm lucky enough to have both PADI and BSAC nearby. I know there is some competition between the two organisations and their respective members; each think their own way is the best and the others rubbish. Has anyone here got any experience or some advice for someone looking to get into the hobby? Much fanks and luff in advance.

Come on Six, you must of seen the message that this is a GoT gif thread now.. Fixed your comment for you! Bring back Sean Bean Who do you think that last gif is? Zombie Boromir! Dude! How old do you think I am!? Indeed! It deeply irritates me when "millennial" is just used for "Dumb kid" or, you know, common sense lacking youth. I was curious if someone who would use the term "snowflake" unironically would know the generation time frames. I will however say that I didn't go out as much as maybe I should have cos my area was shit and I was a nerd from a young age (Chess club, WoW and all nighters in LAN cafes!)
