  1. That's a bit steep. Was that import tax? I've had bike bits from the States that were clearly labelled as motorcycle parts and they just went straight through.
  2. Stuff it into a bag! Have you any idea how much this thing cost me?! It shall be loving rolled onto a cylinder of the finest gossamer to keep it safe.
  3. Very nearly dropped it just sitting at traffic lights. A gust of wind caught me just as I was slipping it into gear. I rode down the motorway like a grandad.* It was an unpleasant journey. *I am a grandad but I don't usually ride so cautiously.
  4. It is a new sail for my Streaker. The mast is something like 30 foot. Fibbing is really just way of sparing her the stress and anxiety. What she doesn't know can't hurt her. So its an act of kindness really. Unlike when I hid a set of Rostyle wheels under the sideboard and they were discovered.
  5. I managed to get a delivery whilst SWMBO was at work. Any suggestions how I hide it? Its about 10 foot long.
  6. The recent bad weather, salt covered roads and last night's storm have finally killed the led aux lights on the cbf. So I'm looking for budget friendly replacements.
  7. I also wear two-piece waterproofs. My current gear is an Oxford Rainseal jacket which was pretty cheap and I didn't expect much. But it's kept me dry on 4 to 5 hour motorway journeys in appalling conditions. Coupled with Oxford Montreal trousers. I know a lot of people look down on Oxford kit but when it pours that's what reach for. I was out in it last night in the storm. Came home bone dry. I've tried Richa gear and found it leaks.
  8. It was a rather wet and breezy ride home this evening. I was rather hoping for lots of rain, to wash all the salt off the bike. Mission accomplished. As a bonus I scored a personal best on the speed device in a local village. I clocked 188mph. (Sadly I suspect that may not be accurate. )
  9. I used to worry about such things but it played merry hell with my blood pressure.
  10. Interesting airport at Madeira if I remember right.
  11. Yes, but baked bean cans are thicker for doing a proper professional job.
  12. Too much oil can result in the crankshaft turning the oil into froth with a lot of air in it. This buggers up the oil pressure as you can't pump froth. Oil is meant to be liquid which can be pumped. Anyone capable of adding 2l of oil to an engine that needs 1l shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a bike.
  13. I heard a dealer suggest that sometimes more owners than average isn't necessarily bad. When buy something new to them they tend to be enthusiastic about it a look after it. So better 8 enthusiastic owners than 2 that have got bored with it and neglected it.
  14. Do a proper job and add some baked beans can to it.
  15. This weekend I was planning on going sailing. Unfortunately there is 1.5 inches of ice on the lake so they've cancelled all sailing. I mean - it's not as if a bit of ice has ever hurt a boat. So I shall be changing all the locks at my mother's flat as her carer has gone and lost the keys. The locks are cheap - it's replacing all the keys that is going to be expensive. I know for sure the keys will be in the carer's pocket / car and she will find them next week.
  16. I tried that. After the first couple of miles the screaming got on my nerves. Plus she voiced firm objection to being strapped to the rear mudguard on a single-seater Bobber.
  17. That's not my trolley. It's the bit in the middle of Aldi where men go whilst their wife does the shopping. Why dog owners need a rubber holder for tennis balls is beyond me. But zip tied to your handlebars that's ideal for sticking a wet sponge in.
  18. I have no idea when I passed my test, I just remember it cost a whole three groats.
  19. Here you go. Aldi £1.49. Perfect.
  20. Brilliant idea. If I drill a couple of holes in my helmet I can bolt that to the back of it and clean my visor at the touch of a button.
  21. My car buying used to be determined by whether I could fit a model aircraft wing into it. These days it's boat sails and rudders that matter. If a car can fit a sail and rudder then grandchildren are bound to fit in it.
  22. I saw those but I can't see it working over my Gerbing heated gloves. They are quite bulky. And it's the days even the roads are gritted which are the problem, and that's when I'm wearing heated gloves. I've remembered what I used to have. My wife worked in a bank and I used one of those little sponge holders they had for wetting their fingers when counting notes by hand.
  23. 'Ti's pretty damn chilly this evening. -7 already. Which reminds me, I need to recharge the batteries for my gloves. I had to go up to the red setting on the way home!!!!
  24. The tennis ball idea is very old school. Maybe I should give it a go, it seemed to work. I just thought it looked a bit naff back in the day. These day...who cares? I'm too old to worry about such things. (Except bar muffs...I'm not that old.)
  25. Today's nomination is anyone who drives a white BMW. For some reason I had three of them pull out right in front of me because they came a junction and couldn't be bothered to stop and look.
