  1. If safety is your number 1 priority consider getting an air vest. I wear a variety of jackets and trousers according to weather conditions. The air vest goes over whatever jacket I'm wearing and attaches to the bike with a cord. They aren't cheap, the Helite version was £500 a couple of years ago. But I prefer the simpler cord operated system over the battery powered types. Easier and cheaper to refill if it has gone off.
  2. Try Plastic Pyramids. I've had a few bits from them and they've been OK
  3. I agree with the above comments. The shape of your head determines which helmets fits best. You don't need to spend a fortune to get high safety specification, my cheap Duke 2 actually outperforms my expensive Schuberth on safety ratings. But the Schuberth is more comfortable and quieter. Do not buy online. Helmets need to be fitted by someone who knows what they are doing. An experienced biker can buy online and return an unsuitable helmet, but your brother won't have the experience to do that. If you live near a branch of Sportsbikeshop they are excellent. I buy helmets from J&S as there is branch just round the corner. They are also good, their prices tend to be higher but they offer a price match so you can get them to match Sportsbikeshop's prices.
  4. I've just read an email from Shell Energy about our electricity and gas tariffs. They are charging me more than the new price cap. The cap is 30p per unit for electricity, with 53p a day standing charge. I'm paying 31p per kwh and 62p a day standing charge. The gas standing charge is also over the cap.
  5. The nob who designed the rear light cluster on the latest version of the Vauxhall Mokka. A tiny indicator right next to a high intensity brake light. Making the indicator virtually impossible to see. Mind you the nob driving the damn thing hardly ever used the indicators anyway. Maybe he was embarrassed having such a tiny one.
  6. I wouldn't 2k out of them. I usually wear mine out in 5k. But I tend to be heavy on the front brake. But the next service is in 2k so they would want replacing then or they won't make the next service.
  7. I would replace the tyre. The pads should last another 2k.
  8. At least it's not negative. Good luck, hope it works out for you.
  9. I have just coughed up for dental treatment. We have a NHS dentist but he reckoned it was beyond him so he referred me to a specialist. I have paid less for motorbikes in the past.
  10. I found that the sound was crap for most of the bands I listened to - or rather tried to listen to. I gave up.
  11. The thing with insurance is they go off algorithms which estimate your risk. Statistically someone who has made a claim, even a no fault claim, is more likely to make one or more further claims. It's unfair but that's how it works. So over the past four years two trucks have rolled into my wife's car on the same roundabout near her work. I didn't get our insurance involved in either incident. I got the car repaired (£700 & £800 respectively) then chased the companies myself. In both cases they preferred to settle with cash payments rather than go through their own insurance. It's annoying when you pay so much for insurance you can't use. But the minute you tell them of a problem. They will whack your premiums up. Which makes a protected NCB a laugh. But if you've got major damage or injury you're sadly over a barrel. For the next 5 years you've got an incident you have to declare.
  12. 1. Make sure the new battery is fully charged. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's fully charged. 2. Replace the spark plug. A dirty plug won't fire. 3. If it's sat for three years with fuel in the carb you can bet there's gummed up fuel residue in there. Give it a good clean.
  13. You could always use a 90 degree adapter.
  14. You can do the V5 and tax online, I did just that on Friday. And you can arrange a new insurance online, also done on Friday. Where you come unstuck on a Sunday is changing an existing insurance.
  15. I use a Halfords pump which can be set to the required pressure and stops when it is reached. It has a display built in so you can check the pressures. There are plenty of gauges and pumps to choose from and they're not hugely expensive.
  16. When buying a different bike there's usually a delay between making the deal and picking up the bike. You need to insure and tax the new bike. Tax can be done online if the seller does the V5 paperwork online first. But insurance needs their office to be open so you'll need to wait until they can make the change before picking up the new bike.
  17. Just saying ... faze and phase have different meanings. It's no wonder we didn't get the gist of what you meant at first.
  18. Send me both and I will then be able to tell you. Crisps....preferably salt and vinegar Nuts.....either cashews or honey dry roast.
  19. Tell me about it - I've been out all afternoon with my two daughters and two granddaughters. I need a very large glass of something to recover.
  20. OK, so it's not you wearing the make up, ear rings and various hair products then. Daughters....there's only one strategy that works.....surrender gracefully.
  21. The only way to know is to ring them. There are quite a few things you can do that they won't worry about, and some seemingly simple things that they do. So check first.
  22. A very worthy cause - but the flier doesn't make clear that the consultation to make disclosure mandatory is already underway. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/mandatory-reporting-of-child-sexual-abuse/mandatory-reporting-of-child-sexual-abuse-call-for-evidence#:~:text=The following persons should be,police officers.
