  1. Mmmmmm.....lovely.
  2. Took the Bobber for MOT - passed no problems. Yesterday I met a guy who keeps bees, rides motorbikes and sails boats. Needless to say we got on quite well. Just as my MOT was finishing he rolled up on his bike for his MOT. It's a small world.
  3. You need to eat an awful lot of it for it to have any effect. I took a group sailing in Scotland and it was horrible. The staff at the centre swore by Marmite as their means of not being bothered by the midges. I like it, but not that amount of it.
  4. If you eat enough Marmite the midges won't try to eat you.
  5. I think not. Greater depravity was demonstrated on our ride last week when some guys put tomato sauce on their bacon butty. All right thinking people know it's meant to be brown sauce.
  6. I believe there is a maximum number of words allowed in a single post so my list of dislikes wouldn't be allowed. So I'll just mention those imbeciles who insist on pulling out in front of you when there is clear road behind they could have slotted into....and then drive at 20mph under the speed limit. Such morons deserve to spend eternity eating only microwaved sausage rolls. With chopsticks.
  7. I think the original post suggested £6k max.
  8. I enrolled at our local library this afternoon. I have my very own library card. The effect was only slightly marred by my inability to check a book out using the machine thus requiring a lady to take pity on me and come to my rescue.
  9. I have no idea who Nick Buckley is. Moreover, I have no interest either.
  10. I removed, cleaned and painted the weights mounted on the bracket for the passenger footpegs on the CBF. They are mounted on rubber pads and are free to move about. I have no idea what they are for. I'm guessing some form of resonance damping.
  11. If the EML is on get the codes read. If its fuel injection it doesn't have a carb.
  12. Many moons ago I got involved in haggling over the valuation of a write off. Whilst we got a better offer it took ages and I had the hassle of storing the wreck. For an old car it's probably not worth your time, the extra would be a small margin. The only time I came out of it well was when I recovered a stolen bike, haggled a better valuation based on its condition and was then left with the bike sat in my garage for weeks. So I sent them a cheeky invoice for storage charges, which they promptly paid in full.
  13. Not sure what you are trying to achieve. The general idea is to downshift and match engine speed so that the sudden difference between engine rpm and the speed of the rear wheel turning the drive system doesn't cause the rear wheel to lock. If you simply drop a gear without balancing the throttle then the engine braking effect can lock the rear wheel leading to loss of control. Some bikes have slipper clutches to help prevent this.
  14. This also helps prevent high speed wobble. At least that's my excuse for downing the large breakfast every time we're out.
  15. On some bikes you need to purge the vent hose at regular service intervals. If you're hearing a rush of air it sounds like the tank isn't venting which will cause fuel issues.
  16. Whilst out on a rode yesterday I was introduced to a chap who set up a Zero dealership when they first launched. He had a terrible time with them. Warranty issues were massive. One being the yoke flexing at motorway speed. Apparently Zero knew of this problem but waited until customers complained. Range issues were a huge problem unless the batteries were freshly charged before every trip, which in turn killed the batteries. He gave up with them in the end. Which suggests anyone looking at electric needs to read beyond the sales pitch very carefully.
  17. I've never turned the fingerprint recognition on on my Samsung phone. It has enough problems doing what it is meant to when I touch an icon. The screen is rubbish. Half the time I press an icon and get something totally unrelated.
  18. So after a day working with superglue I come to my bike and there's no way it's going to recognise what's left of my fingerprints.
  19. Hmm...I volunteered to cover safety boat at an event offering young people a chance of getting into sailing. It seemed a good idea at the time. But the forecast is 20mph+ winds coming from a direction which means massive turbulence, heavy rain and thunderstorms. Either they cancel it or I'm going to be very busy.
  20. I wouldn't ride a Harley anyway, it would go against the grain. Some splinter groups might be in favour of them but the majority of bikers wouldn't want to be lumbered with one.
  21. I've always thought they were a bit of a Marmite bike - you either love or you don't. I had a mate who had one and loved it. Mind you he dressed it so much bling it was embarassing.
  22. Sounds like it's just cold starting issues. Check the usual service items and maybe give the lead and plug a spray of WD40 in case there's a touch of damp in them.
  23. No it's not. They might get involved in internal disciplinary proceedings if they've failed to act on information that allowed abuse to take place but there's no legal requirement to report it. The mandatory requirement to report comes from within professional standards, not legislation. So they might be disciplined but not prosecuted.
  24. You can fit an extension lead so that you can connect the charger without having to access the charger. Fitting the lead means you will need to get at the battery terminals but it's a one off job. I use CTEK chargers and they have a lead with built in LEDs which show the state of the battery charge. Most bike chargers will have something similar available
  25. To be honest I'm heading the same way. I'm getting a bit fed up of trying to organise group rides. I do all the running tound, planning the route, leading the ride watching out for everyone else, and the numbers making a firm commitment are frustrating. It's much easier doing my own thing and being free to go where I want, and overtake when I want.
