Last time I went away I got down to the car deck and whichever muppet strapped my bike down had put one of the straps around my mirror! Just lucky it wasn't a rough crossing
-
Yes they won't let you tie it down yourself on the steam packet ferry, something to do with insurance, they much prefer to F--- it up themselves
-
Nice to see, considering how much we pay to sail with the steam packet, how careful and diligent they are at looking after our pride and joy Happened to me once, feel sorry for them!

How significant is 20,000 miles on a second hand bike?
manxie49 replied to Beans's topic in Motorbike Chat
I wouldn't get to hung up on mileage, I bought a Kawasaki Z1100 some years ago with 47k on the clock, I never had a spot of trouble with it, it had been well looked after and serviced regularly, when I sold it it was up to 58k, still sound as a pound. Flip side of the coin I had a CBR600, 11k on the clock and it was nothing but trouble, one problem after another, it all depends on how the previous owner or owners have cared for the machine .... Hope you get yourself sorted Just one thing to bear in mind I believe valve clearance check is due at 24k, racks the bill up by a few hundred quid.. -
Yes people choose not to mention that as it doesn't fit in with their political agenda

This is what annoys me more than anything, its the hypocrisy, one of the so called organisers was photographed getting into their Range Rover Evoque to go home after disrupting traffic around London, It's just a big F-----g jolly for people with nothing better to do and time on their hands. I do feel we need to do something about climate change but these half wits are like petulant children who don't get their own way so are just hell bent on disrupting everyone else's lives.

Yep....can't argue with that definition, sounds about spot on!

Not sure if I'd want to fly on a jet where the "technologies need tweaking" lol,

IMHO this is a serious criminal act at best, potential terrorism at worst .... I hope whoever is responsible is arrested and sent to prison for a long term. If these acts are supposed to rally support to their cause then the organisers of such disgraceful behaviour are seriously misguided https://techcrunch.com/2019/08/29/climate-activists-plan-to-use-drones-to-shut-down-heathrow-airport-next-month/?guccounter=1&guce_referrer_us=aHR0cHM6Ly9kdWNrZHVja2dvLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_cs=4rxsZoEOuU-Amjs3BN75EQ

Never ridden ZX6R, It was defo more comfortable than a fireblade though....
-
In the short time I spent riding it I'd agree with everything you've said, at 94kg I found the suspension to be pretty good, I think that I'd want to stiffen things up if I was pushing it harder or doing a track day but it seemed quite user friendly to me, amazing piece of machinery
-
Same here, didn't like the look of the front end, it has certainly grown on me over the past twelve months though, I couldn't believe what a pleasure it was to ride, really well behaved if you wanted it to be, but that said, you just knew if you twisted the throttle it would just take off.

Test rode the MT10 Today .... Still smiling What an awesome bike. The first thing I noticed when I pulled away was that it felt more like a 600, it was light, nimble and very responsive. At 6'2" I didn't feel cramped at all, it felt like quite a natural and comfortable riding position with plenty of room to spare, surprisingly it felt a lot easier on my back than my current bike which is a very sit upright position, I could see the seat, after a long ride, becoming uncomfortable so I think investment in a comfort seat would be a must for mid to long range. Around town the bike was well behaved and a pleasure to ride, I could see that it would be easy to live with for the daily commute through traffic. I didn't really get to stretch its legs that much, but on the one occasion I did get to open it up I found the acceleration was breath taking, power delivery was smooth and it seemed to pull effortlessly in all four of the six gears that I used, never got to use fifth or sixth, roads over here were closed for racing so it was quite busy. I've heard people say the brakes are to soft but IMHO I found them to be adequate, suspension was set at standard, and although a little on the soft side it was good, the softer suspension suited me and I quite liked the set up, alteration would obviously be required for two up riding but there seems to be plenty to play with in that department. I tried the quick shifter once, seemed to work as I'd expect with no chain slap, only tried it on the upshift as I wasn't sure if it could be used to down shift or not? The look of the bike is what I would call unique, it won't suit everyone, but I'm glad it wouldn't, what a crap world it would be if we all had similar tastes. One other groan that I seen on a web site was a couple of people say the riding position gave them wrist fatigue on longer runs, having owned a few sports and super sports bikes I would argue that this is probably due to rider confidence "the dreaded death grip" and the riders failure to relax and use their knees more than a fault of the bike. All in all I loved the bike and have decided to trade in my S10 and purchase one, I feel that this is a bike I can easily live with on a day by day basis, it'll do my regular trips with mates to the Lakes and Scottish Borders, will easily hold its own on the motorways and dual carriageways but will provide and immense amount of fun through the twisties leaving me with a massive smile on my face, and to me, apart from the social side, that's what motorcycling is all about. Thanks to Geofferz for his input, much appreciated Rennie, go test ride one, you will love it!

TT Last year I was amazed at how many people were doing it, they weren't pootling around some of them either, one guy went past me on the mountain, I was doing 80! He had a leather jacket on but wearing shorts!!
-
Lesson learnt the hard way! To add insult to injury they scrub skin like that in A&E to clean out the gravel and road crap, so for him, there would be more pain to come, seen quite a few people riding in shorts and T Shirts, beggars belief .... Its their skin I suppose!

Lovely bike .... Limited edition, keep it as an investment

Racing tomorrow now so won't get to do a lap
-
Will do, hope we get decent weather!! Looking forward to getting my paws on it for a couple of hours, Thursday isn't a race day so hoping to get a couple of laps in, had a sit on it to make sure I was comfortable, I'm 6'2" so wanted to check, it feels perfect sat on it though, feels like a good riding position and feels quite natural with plenty of room, will let you know how I get on Race day/laps - eh?! Its currently the festival of motorcycling over here, (MGP), roads close for racing, roads should be open all day tomorrow so I can do a lap of the course

Your riding sounds like you were being a great ambassador for our sport, the nob on the scoot, from what you say, probably won't be on the road for much longer anyway riding like that! We seem. to be getting a lot of them over here now, they seem to have sprung up over the last 12mths, groups of young kids on scoots riding like cocks.

Exciting! Let us know. Will do, hope we get decent weather!! Going for a test ride on Thursday .... Looking forward to see what's it like on the road

Told the wife I wanted a new bike and she said she found one for me, sounds great and cheap to run!! https://youtu.be/HN7jThevYK8

Psychologically tiring, your concentrating harder, moving around on the machine and you will tire faster, especially in hot weather, make sure you drink plenty of water, when I went to Verbier I was getting the best nights sleeps I'd had in ages, I was knackered at the end of each day.
-
Ditto with Dynax, don't forget the tyre pressures, really important
-
You should give it a go, the guy I was chatting to the other day was a big bloke, at least 6'4", he said he suffers with his back and found the MT10 quite comfortable and doesn't cause him any issues, I was keen to find out a bit about the comfort side of things as I suffer intermittently with back problems that resulted from an injury years ago, I'm looking forward to getting my paws on one for a test ride. Deffo test ride. Riding position is less aggressive than street triple - very upright. I'm 6'2 Same here, I'm 6'2" and it looks pretty ok for the taller rider, nowhere near as cramped as my old blade
