1. Fingers crossed that weather stays good for this evenings race, I'm hoping to head down for a couple of hours
2. Jason Griffiths on the Isle of Man hires bikes, he may be able to give some advice if you contact him, he's very approachable and helpful. https://www.jasongriffiths.im/motorcycle-hire/
3. Wasn't an April fool at all, as I said it was something I came across that I found, as a former GS owner, interesting, I didn't even know BMW had been looking at making an X Drive version of the GS so though that others, who like me, who are not blessed with the ability, or arrogance in professing to know it all, may be interested as well ....
4. Just came across this about the BMW Hybrid GS, I personally don't like the GS, I used to have one and it proved to be the most unreliable bike I ever owned, standing joke with my mates who always used to check I had my bus fair when we went out, I was probably just unlucky, this one looks quite innovative, looks pretty good as well if you like ADV's https://www.bmwblog.com/2017/04/01/first-hybrid-xdrive-bmw-motorcycle-revealed/
5. Enjoy the bike mate, ZX6R is a fantastic bike with phenomenal amounts of power, more than more mere mortals will ever need
6. Yer I knew I probably could have got better had I have shopped a bit more, it does cover me for commuting as well which is a bonus, who do you insure with? Bennetts Mmmm maybe its my occupation or the fact I use it for commuting, I've heard that working shifts pushes the premiums up?
7. Have to agree with raesewell and bender on this one, I've used SBS for years and found customer service has been second to none, never had any problems with anything I've bought from them and if I have they've replaced or refunded without any quibble. I think you've probably just been unlucky, as Bender stated its a risk you take when you buy online, I personally wouldn't expect shops to open everything they carry in stock and check it for serviceability, just not practical .... ring them and talk to them, you'll find their a really helpful bunch
8. Don't waste your money, I believe it was designed to help reduce wear on high performance turbo charged engines, help keep them clean and reduce knocking, it has a slightly higher RON - octane rating, but I'm no expert, I think regular unleaded has an RON of 95 with super unleaded coming in at 98. I tried it in a fire blade that I used to have and the only difference I noticed was how much quicker my wallet emptied, the blade, which incidentally was tuned and dyno jetted, ran perfectly on normal unleaded, that said, if you want to shell out the extra moola for the dealer proclaimed benefits then it won't hurt your engine either
9. Great video, love the chopper push bike at the start, I had my first ever two wheeled spill on one of those
10. How things have changed .... I was 1yr old then, already dreaming of my first bike....
11. Heart goes out to you mate, my brother, who lives in Middlesex, was paying something like that for a CBR600, he said it got to the point where the insurance was costing more than the bike was worth
12. If there's any other Service veterans on this site you may find the following link useful, you can also apply now for your veterans badge, issued free of charge, just fill out the attached paperwork with your service details. Role out of veterans ID cards has initially started for those who were discharged after December 2018, vets who were discharged prior to this will be able to apply for one by the end of the year, having one will prove you served in the forces and help enable you to preferential treatment for things such as NHS appointments, to name but one. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/veterans-uk
13. Yer I knew I probably could have got better had I have shopped a bit more, it does cover me for commuting as well which is a bonus, who do you insure with?
14. Well it was that time of year again, did the usual shopping around and got what I felt was a really good deal from Bennetts, £145.00 fully comp, added on another £60 for legal expenses cover, EU RAC Breakdown, personal accident cover and helmet and leathers cover. Compared to what I've heard some people having to shell out I'm pretty satisfied, customer service was good as well. The bike is garaged, fitted with an immobiliser and doesn't have any mods. I have full no claims and two advanced rider qualifications...I probably could off got better but I've used Bennetts before and they've always been pretty good....So that's me sorted for another year
15. Would make me feel better
16. He sounds like a complete nob head! Unfortunately we've all seen them, my advice would be not to put yourself at risk, don't be drawn into a race with him, wait until the traffic slows or the point where it comes to a stop, as it inevitably does, then filter past him and give him the finger!! I know how you feel though....
17. When I hit the tarmac it was hands, elbow, shoulder and hip ..... Every accident is different though, to many extrinsic unknowns to to be able to say with confidence, this is what you should buy first, so I've got to agree with Bender, go for the best you can afford of everything and definitely don't skimp on the helmet ....
18. I'm no expert but motorways with no hard shoulder have got to be dangerous! I wouldn't want to break down on one, unable to get to a "safe refuge". They appear to becoming more common place, I don't understand how the highways agency can say they are safer?? https://www.msn.com/en-gb/travel/news/smart-motorways-without-hard-shoulders-are-safer-claims-highways-england-despite-emergency-services-and-driving-groups-blasting-them-as-dangerous/ar-AADGDLp?li=AAnZ9Ug&ocid=mailsignout
19. Never had anyone shake their head but have had a few who don't bother to nod .... We are all part of the biggest club in the world being motorcyclists but Harley riders seem to be a club within a club, I used to work with someone who rode a Harley, every time anyone got a new bike he would never say it was nice and never got into discussion about it, he would just say "its OK but its not a Harley" each to their own I suppose
20. I don't know what the 390 is like to ride but I used to have a 600, I personally found them a bit twitchy at the back end, especially on wet roads .... Good luck
21. Ha, Ha, didn't realise that
22. I didn't know this group existed, may be worth a look around their site .... http://www.mcrg.org/index.html
23. Same as Bob, I use Drift, absolutely brilliant, used to use a go pro but found I couldn't find anywhere to mount it discretely enough, on the helmet anyway .... Lots of cameras out there, have a look at the drift, different models to choose from
24. Well its been passed into law now .... by 2050 we'll all be vegans, driving battery power cars, not having holidays unless we walk or cycle and we'll all be dancing like Tw--s on London Bridge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77hTRG5VucM
