1. Happy New year to one and all .... Ride long, ride safe
2. This is pretty good https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/screenwash-de-icer/rain-x-plastic-water-repellent-500ml
3. I used to have a pair of these and there brilliant, good fit and comfortable
4. I have RUKKA which is spot on, good fit, keeps me dry and warm and the armour Is massive, in all the right places as well, I upgraded the back protecter to a level 2, the down side was I had to nearly kill myself with overtime to afford them, it was that or sell the wife! At the end of the day you get what you pay for and after being out in some horrendous rain I can vouch for the fact that RUKKA really does meet all expectations
5. I got a Senna 10U intercom for my SHOEI helmet, I love it .... bang goes the "I didn't hear the phone ring excuse"
6. I may not get online between now and Christmas so wanted to wish all the forum members and their families a happy and safe Christmas, all the best
7. The bike will mend, thankfully you're not hurt .... I imagine that most of us here have had a spill at some point in our biking history, dust yourself down, get back in the saddle and it'll all be forgotten about in no time at all, look at it as a learning experience
8. In the UK it would be the Lake District and Europe would have to be the run to Verbier in Switzerland for me "fantastic roads"
9. I have to agree with these sentiments, I rode a bike for years, all year round, commuting from Melton to Leicester, as someone who has loved bikes ever since I was a kid I have to admit that a lot of the winter commutes were not fun, and most of those were on a 500cc bike. Give it a go but don't let the winter commute put you of biking
10. I think the only people that would challenge scrots like this are other bikers, I know I would, I worked damned hard to save up and buy my bike, just like every other biker I know, I just wouldn't be able to stand by and watch some light fingered scum bags do this! I hope they get all that's coming to them .... High speed versus an immovable object.
11. 3800 here and I live on a rock!
12. Thats from the Police driver training manual "road craft" read that while reading up for my advanced test, very, very good advice
13. My bike has traction control but I have to agree with Mike, if it looks slippery ride the bike accordingly, its the same as some 4WD drivers who drive like idiots in the snow, they think they have 4WD drive so are invincible, then wonder why they ended up on their roof.
14. Yes you're right, apparently you agree to it in the small print, if you want to opt out of automatic renewals you have to tell them. I did however think that they had to send out a renewal notification prior to sticking their hand in your pocket not eleven days later! I won't get stung like that again.
15. Definitely optimate, I've used one for a couple of years, bike is permanently plugged into it when not in use, excellent bit of kit, bike starts first time every time and it has definitely extended the periods between buying new batteries. Hope you heal soon,

17. Yes I've cancelled the auto renew that I didn't realise I had "learning curve there, read the small print". Have set a reminder on my phone to give me plenty of time for next year.
18. Didn't get a Happy birthday but thanks for the mention Happy belated birthday Cheers Stu
19. I've been insured by Direct Line for some years now, this year I forgot about the renewal and Direct Line automatically renewed, "glad they did on this occasion" however I thought the premium was a bit steep so had a check on some other sites, full no claims, no accidents or convictions, advanced driver, all other insurers were coming in substantially cheaper. Out of interest I re-entered all my details onto the Direct line web site, low and behold my policy came out £60 cheaper than what they had just charged me !!!! WTF how is this and has anyone else had the same issue, if challenged has anyone been given a refund? I feel I've been ripped off!
20. Those of you who have done the residential blue light advanced rider training may or may not be aware of this but just thought I'd give you a heads up. When you go for insurance they ask if you've done any advanced rider training, if you say yes, blue light rider trained they they don't have a clue and therefore most won't give you the discount. If you produce your blue light rider certificate to the IAM Roadsmart you can get the qualification automatically, they will RPL your training, insurance companies recognise this qualification and some, including the one I use, will give a discount
21. Didn't get a Happy birthday but thanks for the mention
22. Yep, its a really positive way to promote our sport, we have the Christmas teddy ride out to go yet, similar one to Bristol, deliver teddies and presents to children at the hospice, police and emergency services also get involved, 1st rate.
23. There's charity ride outs right through the year for one thing or another, usually advertised on one of the local sites such as 3FM or Energy FM
24. Just shows that the Isle of Man isn't just about the the TT, Bikers over here do get together regularly in the name of charity, and this really was a worthy charity worth getting out and supporting
