  1. Got the bike out for the first time in weeks. Spent ages trying to get the damn thing started. Decided to kill two birds with one stone by giving it a quick run and nipping to the local M&S to pick up one of those two for a tenner meal deal things they do. It's only a few minutes away on the bike so didn't fully kit up and froze my arse off getting there just to find out the deal isn't on this bast*rd week so had to freeze my arse off on the way back without the warm fuzzy feeling of a nice meal later. F**k my life. The way my luck goes I bet I dont' even win tonights euromillions.
  2. If i'd have taken a picture the flash would have given me away and she'd have spotted the peep holes in my newspaper. Don't worry about it mate, I'm sure someone will come along soon who has bigger balls and smaller thumb print on their heads and a big stack of photo's of said girl.
  3. Cold but glorious sunshine here.
  4. I was going to say that if the traffic is moving and you pass on the left between cars and curb then it could be classed as undertaking but then remembered the recent discussion regarding undertaking and the fact there is no such thing as undertaking but it could be classed as dangerous driving or something. You should be able to pass on the right of any queue or slow moving traffic. It's also less dangerous than passing on the left as cars tend to look to their right and might not expect a bike to be squeezing past. There's is usually more than enough room to pass on the right down the white lines or slightly on the oncoming traffics lane. In fact I often continue filtering even when cars are coming towards me and am yet to find any driver who will not move to give me space. If however it's very narrow I'll nip in and out as there's a break in the oncoming traffic. I will also dip the clutch and rev the engine loudly when approaching a car going in my direction who is very close to the middle and the majority will move over. I find revving the engine is perceived as a lot less rude than if you beeped your horn.
  5. I've got to admit that my chin hit the floor at the quality of the HD bike camera and my first thought was 'I want one' the second thought was 'I bet Dan has one already'. I don't care about the commentators as I know shit about the sport either.
  6. jacket, boots and normal jeans if my kevlar jeans aren't washed and ironed. I ride slower and in my mind it's not much faster than if I was on my mountain bike where i wear very little protection at all.
  7. I want a good job NOW but can't be arsed to sort my CV out after a 9 year hiatus from work. Even when I'm done I can't be arsed to apply to loads of jobs and face knock back after knock back. I also hate the 'Get into teaching' adverts that make it sound as though you can get a job in teaching really really easy when in real life it's really really hard. F**K IT!!!
  8. Also, don't forget to buy a crappy big bike first as you're pretty much going to drop it a few times and mess it up till you're well experienced then go for a new shiny one.
  9. Me too, hopefully with my wife for her first visit to Matlock on the back of the bike.
  10. Pay for you own SIA badge and then f**k off to a company that pays more and takes care of it's staff. What type of security do you do? If youre a security guard then pay for the Door supervisor licence and get some better paid work at weekends to cover the licence money and pay for extras.
  11. I've just finished uni and to be honest you're better off having a bag inside a top box. That way you just open the top box take out your bags and replace said bags with your helmet and other gear. The biggest problem I had until finding a load of lockers was finding somewhere to keep all my bike gear so I didn't have to lug it around or leave it with the bike. Although saying that, on a lot of trips my helmet generally stayed hanging on the bike mirror.
  12. I'll be at Matlock today at about 10:30 so I'll check this thread when I get there and see if anyones replied.
  13. My dads has been the same for years however I came off it in June/July and since then it's fine. I cured it so my suggestion is have an off to sort it. Although, it could have been the fact the top box isn't on it anymore as it smashed up on impact or it did something to the suspension. In fact I've probably been no help at all here.
  14. Because the schools tend to be on streets where kids play, near homes, and on smaller streets where cars still manage to be ragged about whereas camera's always seem to be on straight, duel carriageways or ring roads. I'd rather the cars around where I live were slowed down than those on ring roads etc
  15. If they turn them off, remove them and then place them in places such as outside schools or playing fields then it's a good thing. If they're just turning them off then it's still a good thing but it'll mean they'll have their mobile police units working all over the place so there's a chance you can get caught on stretches of road you wouldn't usually get them becuase they have forward facing cameras already.
  16. PhatDad

    Had a spill.

What sort of insurance do you have? If it's fully comp and the excess is less than the damage then that might be the way to go.
  17. Piece of piss +1 Throttle/Clutch control takes a few minutes to get used to. As you're a driver you'll have no trouble figuring out when to change gear. Balance you should have from riding a pushbike as a child/adult. Road craft picked up from driving too. Shouldn't be a problem.
  18. You'll be alright mate, they're just slightly thicker jeans. My only issue with them is they don't seem to come in particularly trendy styles.
  19. I collected those little silica gel packets you get in boxes to keep the moisture out and last year used to put my wet gloves in a quality street tin with a few of those in there and the last of the moisture would come out and they stopped smelling of that horrible sweaty smell.
  20. *sigh* I didnt cry, it just really made me feel really gutted. Read it again in an angry context fool, I stormed upstairs and back down a few times with a confused expression as I wondered why it had died. Did it starve, dehydrate... Basically anything that could make it my or the familes fault as I expected to let them die when I moved out. Then jog on as I thought this was a thread for people who are having a bad day. I rode 200 miles, through rain and generally in a bad mood to find one of the few pets I was ever allowed to have dead. Great cherry on top to already a shit day. Or so I thought until I come online to find this response. Call it over the top, I understood when you were angry when lorry drivers were being slagged off. And it was a Hamster... If you are going to hurl an insult at least have the class to get it right clever clogs Hey Fozzie don't worry about it. There are several types of men in this world and some of us are emotional souls. As i've got older it's got easier for me to admit to being one of the emotional guys who cries at everything. It also helps when you find out we satisfy our women better than those who show less emotions. Oh and I'm having a really shit time with life at the moment and nothing seems to be going right. Even the things that are going really really great are treading on the toes of someone else so creating a really shit time for me so have a **** it from me.
  21. Breathable means that you can get the sweat and heat out of the jeans and away from your legs and not let anything in.
  22. When I did both my cbt and my full licence lessons, I was the opposite to your boy so can see in a way why the instructor might have done it. Each one I did I did it with someone who wasn't a natural to put it politely and ended up feeling as though I had spent the same amount of money for my days tuition but saw very little tuition as the instructor was having to spend the majority of it with the less than natural riders. The days I got my instructor to myself were great though but I couldn't help feel I'd spent more than I should have.
  23. Do a google for 'Little Ben clocks'. They're really well made and the only thing that hasn't broken on my bike.
  24. Yeah, not as dangerous as at a STop junction though.
