  1. I've just finished uni and to be honest you're better off having a bag inside a top box. That way you just open the top box take out your bags and replace said bags with your helmet and other gear. The biggest problem I had until finding a load of lockers was finding somewhere to keep all my bike gear so I didn't have to lug it around or leave it with the bike. Although saying that, on a lot of trips my helmet generally stayed hanging on the bike mirror.
  2. I'll be at Matlock today at about 10:30 so I'll check this thread when I get there and see if anyones replied.
  3. My dads has been the same for years however I came off it in June/July and since then it's fine. I cured it so my suggestion is have an off to sort it. Although, it could have been the fact the top box isn't on it anymore as it smashed up on impact or it did something to the suspension. In fact I've probably been no help at all here.
  4. Because the schools tend to be on streets where kids play, near homes, and on smaller streets where cars still manage to be ragged about whereas camera's always seem to be on straight, duel carriageways or ring roads. I'd rather the cars around where I live were slowed down than those on ring roads etc
  5. If they turn them off, remove them and then place them in places such as outside schools or playing fields then it's a good thing. If they're just turning them off then it's still a good thing but it'll mean they'll have their mobile police units working all over the place so there's a chance you can get caught on stretches of road you wouldn't usually get them becuase they have forward facing cameras already.

    Had a spill.

What sort of insurance do you have? If it's fully comp and the excess is less than the damage then that might be the way to go.
  7. Piece of piss +1 Throttle/Clutch control takes a few minutes to get used to. As you're a driver you'll have no trouble figuring out when to change gear. Balance you should have from riding a pushbike as a child/adult. Road craft picked up from driving too. Shouldn't be a problem.
  8. You'll be alright mate, they're just slightly thicker jeans. My only issue with them is they don't seem to come in particularly trendy styles.
  9. I collected those little silica gel packets you get in boxes to keep the moisture out and last year used to put my wet gloves in a quality street tin with a few of those in there and the last of the moisture would come out and they stopped smelling of that horrible sweaty smell.
  10. *sigh* I didnt cry, it just really made me feel really gutted. Read it again in an angry context fool, I stormed upstairs and back down a few times with a confused expression as I wondered why it had died. Did it starve, dehydrate... Basically anything that could make it my or the familes fault as I expected to let them die when I moved out. Then jog on as I thought this was a thread for people who are having a bad day. I rode 200 miles, through rain and generally in a bad mood to find one of the few pets I was ever allowed to have dead. Great cherry on top to already a shit day. Or so I thought until I come online to find this response. Call it over the top, I understood when you were angry when lorry drivers were being slagged off. And it was a Hamster... If you are going to hurl an insult at least have the class to get it right clever clogs Hey Fozzie don't worry about it. There are several types of men in this world and some of us are emotional souls. As i've got older it's got easier for me to admit to being one of the emotional guys who cries at everything. It also helps when you find out we satisfy our women better than those who show less emotions. Oh and I'm having a really shit time with life at the moment and nothing seems to be going right. Even the things that are going really really great are treading on the toes of someone else so creating a really shit time for me so have a **** it from me.
  11. Breathable means that you can get the sweat and heat out of the jeans and away from your legs and not let anything in.
  12. When I did both my cbt and my full licence lessons, I was the opposite to your boy so can see in a way why the instructor might have done it. Each one I did I did it with someone who wasn't a natural to put it politely and ended up feeling as though I had spent the same amount of money for my days tuition but saw very little tuition as the instructor was having to spend the majority of it with the less than natural riders. The days I got my instructor to myself were great though but I couldn't help feel I'd spent more than I should have.
  13. Do a google for 'Little Ben clocks'. They're really well made and the only thing that hasn't broken on my bike.
  14. Yeah, not as dangerous as at a STop junction though.
  15. A give way sign means that you can approach the junction and if there are no obstacles/hazards you can keep going and pull out. A stop means that it's a dangerous junction, possibly with hidden or fast hazards and for this reason you have to stop fully and check properly before continuing. I have one on the exit of my university because a downhill cycle lane cuts across the pavement so I stop and make sure BOTH feet go down before proceeding even if it looks clear.
  16. 1) There is a period between seeing an open space to move into and actually moving. This period is while your letting out the clutch, lifting your foot/feet onto the pegs, releasing brakes etc where you should do your mirror and shoulder check to make sure a cyclist or nman1 hasn't moved up along side you. 2) Going straight on from traffic lights you should still do a mirror and shoulder check, I tend as I believe I was taught to, shoulder check both sides in case another cyclist/biker has moved up and feels his R1 is more important than your Tiger.
  17. American football helmets have used a bladder for years now for the whole head, with foam inserts too and I've never had a problem with them.
  18. I watch it if it's on and I can get permission, well if it's not on when one of the Xfactor, celebrity, shite shows are on. I'm more a Touring Car person though but that also relies on permission. Permission Yes, permission to watch it in the living room on the main TV. I'm guessing that as you're a family man then you'll not be watching it live on the big living room tv but on a little one in the shed or at least a bedroom somewhere so don't make out you're the boss in your house, I'm not that stupid.

  20. Are you about 6ft wide or something?! I think the latest theory is the air brake one. I would say it's more of an MX cross-over thing though, either to get more weight on the front or set up for the corner or even just a habit thing. Never looks right on a sports bike though IMO. Not far off.
  21. I always always under the impression that the leg out was to stop close overtakes. Although i suppose it may help "pull" the bike in to the corner or something? Considering they do anything and everything possible to reduce drag normally, it may have more of an effect than you think..... ever taken your hand off the handle bars at 100mph? Really does drag a bit! I suppose so yeah, if I ever bump into Rossi I'll ask him I think it's an airbrake as I've often seen them do it when they're overtaking on the arrival to the corner and need any extra help to brake before getting to the corner. When I'm travelling quite fast and need to increase the gap between me and the vehicle in front I often sit upright and use that drag to slow me down instead of using the brakes.
  22. Your put your willy in the wrong place and it run when you buggered? Oooooh missus!!!
  23. I came off today in my redroute jeans at 30-40mph, maybe a bit less as I'd been braking sharply. I scraped the shoulder and elbow of my jacket noticably and was able to roll with the fall but there's no apparent damage to the jeans despite there being some on the jacket. Boots have scraped up and need replacing though.
  24. Textiles all year round for me as I can't afford leather and to be honest wouldn't buy leather other than a jacket anyway. Textiles suit me fine and aren't any worse than leather really are they?
  25. I can't remember much of it so no harm done. Amazing how hard you can get whipped towards the tarmac though.
