  1. I would definitely check if your lid is safe to use before eliminating that from your shopping list, make sure it fits, hasn't been dropped etc I would say RST is a cheap brand, but it is fairly decent quality.....in general
  2. I think it's a safe bet to say that there are more CBRs on the road than daytonas. Why not be different?
  3. Fixed the problem, it wasn't the switch it's self, per-se, it was the connector to the wiring loom that had detached it's self from the wire coming out of the switch. Looks like a sort of detachable connector, with a male and female end.
  4. Cheers, I'll try that when I get a chance, Cant just yet as Im bogged down with uni assignments =/
  5. definitely the former, doesnt jolt forwards or anything, the revs just die down quickly and dies unless I pull the clutch in
  6. Hi guys, Im having a problem with my bike, (obviously ) I went for a ride to willingham woods with a friend on his Blackbird, came back and all was good. The next day I started it up and let it warm up, set off, no problems whatsoever. Got to my friends house (few miles away) and stopped to meet up, went for a cuppa first (of course) We were ready to go, so I started her up (engine was still warm), kick stand, clutch in, knocked it down to first, attempted to set off and the engine dies. I thought I had just forgotten how to ride or something, so I started it up again and same happened again. There is no pull, it just dies. I can bump it (i.e. disengaging clutch straight away) so there is friction between the plates, runs fine at idle and revs nicely, doesnt cut out if I knock it into gear and clutch is disengaged, only when I engage the clutch does it die. Any ideas? Bike is a '94 Kawasaki Balius(ZR250) jap import, looks like an ER5
  7. jeez, hope the snow is gone for you by then mate, Im dying to get on my bike right now
  8. Just got my pink license through, along with my new counterpart =D. Just a shame it took so damn long to get here, been without ID for a month lol. Unfortunately I'm only 19 and had to take the restricted test, so my new license says Cat A, from 08-12-09 to 03-03-60 =<25KW.
  9. I've just passed my bike test, but I too am thinking about getting a car license, but in the future. Do I still have provisional car entitlement? if not, what do I have to do, to get it?
  10. Grats! I know what it feels like, Ive just passed mod 2 and Im a very happy bunny
  11. Passed Mod 2 today!, first attempt with 1 minor. Was going to take my test in lincoln, but couldnt find a booking at a convenient time. So I booked one in rotherham instead (for today, 8th December at 12:17). I was anxiously sitting in the waiting room at the test centre with my instructor, the examiner came out of an office and invited me in. He talked about the test, got me to sign the marking sheet thing, kitted me up with a radio and we headed outside. He asked me how I would check the oil level on the bike and how I would check if the front brake was working, so I showed him the window on the engine, took the bike from the centre stand pused forward and applied the front brake..so far so good. He went over to his bike and tested the radio, it nearly blew my head off! so he came over and asjusted the volume, we were ready to set off. Butterflies were appearing at this point. We left the test centre, left onto the main road and to my delight, right at the roundabout, away from town and towards some nice twisties! After this, I forgot about worrying and started enjoying the ride. I was asked to pull over several times after going through some small villages, between national speed limit roads. After about 35 minutes, we ended up in rawmarsh, I had to turn right down broad street towards parkgate shopping centre. Everything was going great!, I was fairly confident that I hadn't messed up so far. Approaching the roundabout at the bottom, I was instructed to turn right, so as usual check mirrors, lifesaver, indicator, moved over to right, waited for an opportunity to enter the roundabout. A perfect opportunity arose, no other cars approaching. I entered the roundabout but got in the wrong lane! I quickly looked around (luckily no other vehicles on the roundabout) and corrected my error. I remember thinking, "there goes my £75", Ive got to have failed for that". We proceeded towards the test centre, pulled in and parked. We walked towards the building as he said he invited me to an office, and asked if I would like my instructor present. We went into the office, I took off the radio and waited for the bad news. The examiner said "congratulations, you have passed, but..." he then explained that, had I not looked around when I did, I would have picked up a major error and would have, indeed, failed. He continued to say that my observations throughout were excellent. Just goes to show that observations are important! So there you have it, my experiences while taking mod 2.
  12. Where does it mention the cables? Ive not been able to find one yet, it's killing me
  13. reason i ask, is my bike is an import, and not many sites I have come across know about it, even the kawasaki site shows nothing about it o.0
  14. are all cables the same? or will I have to get a specific one? Cheers mate
  15. Was just warming up my bike today, got it warmed up and revved it a bit, then the throttle went loose and couldnt rev any more. I subsequently looked at the throttle and found that the cable at the engine was fine(the bit where it is tied at two points to a circular looking thing) it is broken a bit further up about 10cm before the throttle, where it is attached to the handle. It seems to be a circular route, because if I tug at the cable attached to the engine, it revs, if I tug at the throttle end of the snapped cable, the handle rotates. My question is, is this a common setup for throttle assembly? is it easy to replace, and would it be better to get a garage to look at it?
  16. Ive stopped for and been stopped for before, I think everyone should pull over and just see if they can help, its surprising, as many have said, just how many people dont have phones or dont have credit. Was once on way home and started having battery troubles, the bike was sputtering(later found terminal wasnt tightened properly ). Anyway, was pushing my bke up a slight hill, when a white van pulled up in front of me, at first I thought "what a git, how am I supposed to push it along the road now", but then he offered to help and I was relieved, so we loaded my bike into the van and he took me home .
  17. got my bike back today, all works, and after an electrical overhaul, seems nippier o.0, now just left with a slight oil leak and missing fairing
  18. took my bike to a garage, going back on friday, hopefully get it fixed.
  19. Ive looked at my haynes manual, and it says there is only one fuse for the system, which is in a little plastic case attached to the rubber strap holding in the battery, would a continuity test with a multimeter determine whether or not it's blown?
  20. it was new afaik, got it from an autoparts shop
  21. Hi there, new to bikes and to this forum , passed my CBT about 5 months ago, and have been using an old GS 125. I've had no end of problems with it, at first it was O.K. but a few weeks in, I noticed that the battery was either not holding a charge or wasnt being charged. The easiest thing to do was to get a new battery, and I did. I gave the new battery a full charge before fitting it to the bike, electric start worked again!, until I realised it was not being charged, and I had to keep charging the battery. After a while, I was informed that the regulator/rectifier may be defective, and so I bought a new one and fitted it. To my amazement, the battery was getting a charge, and so rode around for a while until my headlight bulbs started blowing, one after the other for a few weeks. Also, my rear and stop bulb blew once. I replaced the tail and stop bulb and noticed that the tail filament was fine but the stop filament refused to work, a couple of weeks later it suddenly stopped blowing bulbs, at the same time also stopped charging my battery. Now, the battery isnt being charged, stop light wont come on(dont know if its blown, but doesnt look it) when I squeeze either front brake or press rear foot brake, oh and my second gear light on gear indicator intermittently works :S. On the upside, bulbs arent blowing anymore any advice would be appreciated,
