Can anyone tell me, off hand, the diameter for the rear axle bolt on a bandit GSF600? Gonna give it a bit of a service. No smarmy comments about measuring it please , I would if I were there to measure it Ive read online that it's 36mm, 32mm, 22mm, 24mm.......That's a big range of answers from various places, And I need to get a spanner or deep impact socket big enough to get it off.

Ive used screw extractors for.....too many old screws and bolts that have rounded, they were the bain of my existense when I had my old 125. They've never caused damage, or even had an effect on anything surrounding when I've used them. Just make sure you drill a nice pilot hole before you try to take them out, and use the biggest extractor that will work, You wouldn't believe how many I've snapped because I used one too small

If the traffic was gridlocked, then Probably
-
I dont think it's illegal to do so as long as it's safe and there's enough room to do it without mounting the curb. Personally I probably wouldn't risk it, depending on how fast the traffic is moving

I was told not to filter on my test by my instructor, I sat in a little traffic and I passed

Givi Satnav Bags
sparkeh9 replied to Timmy Tiger's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I have one, I used to mount it on the handlebars, problem was the velcro kept slipping and becoming loose (no danger of coming off the bike though, just loss of tightness) and eventually started to scratch my tank o_0 -
Nipping to the shops, what do you wear?
sparkeh9 replied to hammer5's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I used to just wear lid, jacket, gloves and boots Nowadays I wear all my gear, all the time. If it's just nipping out to the shops, just walk -
would keeping the battery on a trickle charger over the winter be a good/bad idea?

Doing your CBT on a 500cc?
sparkeh9 replied to Vicstress's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I didn't know a CBT could be done on a bigger bike, but I doubt instructors would be willing to let someone jump straight onto a bigger / more expensive without knowing they have some ability. I dont think I would if I were an instructor -
it's oil cooled and carbed, no radiator or thermostat to worry about

I commute to work every morning on my bike, I start it up (always first time btw ) and put choke on until it can run without it. Obviously with the weather getting colder recently, it's taking a bit longer to warm up. But I've also noticed that when cold (from overnight), it struggles to rev in the lower RPMs but not after about 3-4k. when it gets warm, it's fine . Immediately I just put it down to cold, but I was thinking, could the spark plugs be on their way out? or rather, are spark plugs operation affected by the cold? Is a colder fuel mixture / environment harder to ignite?

sparkeh9 replied to Dale.'s topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Observations don't leave your indicators on Making a mistake isn't neccessarily an insta-fail, just deal with a situation approapriately, and most importantly, safely -
complete guess here, maybe your spark plugs need replacing?

whats going wrong - theory?|
sparkeh9 replied to demise of sanity's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I think the thing about the theory test is, you've got to remember that the questions (apart from stopping distances and stuff) are all answerable by common sense. Before you answer a question, think to yourself, is it safe ? My friend told me this before I did the test, and I passed first time -
addition to MOD2
sparkeh9 replied to macpaddy5's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I knew it was getting put into car test, bike MOD2 getting it too? o-0 Ive already passed, so I dont have to do it on bike I think it's probably a good thing, though I can imagine it will make some people panic and inadvertantly make silly mistakes by attempting to follow the route...especially if they dont know the area
