time is a good healer, you never know in a year she may want to give it another go as she meets more female bikers who have kissed the tarmac rather hard. just enjoy riding together until this change happens. hope she is ok.

Crossings - Making a 'life saver' before you leave

yes Lucifa thank you for your expertly drawn diagram. that is exactly what has happened to me and it was only my lifesaver that meant i could avoid collision. -

Its depends on the situation thats why you need the common sense. All I would say is its a bit of an urban myth that you need to be constantly checking your shoulders to pass your test. Comes from the idea that well they cant fail me for it, so ill do it anyway. but its not what they are looking for and it could distract you from what you should be doing. Check when you should be checking. If you're at the front by some traffic lights, you are going straight forward what is the immediate danger to your left or right that you wont have seen approaching in your mirrors. Providing that on your bike test you are expected to make good progress from the lights and have good road position anyway. you never had someone running to beat the traffic on a crossing? i have and it was only cos i did my lifesaver to the left that i saw them nearly run into me lol and i also had a mark against me for not checking my mirrors during my test, cos i didnt make it evident that i was doing so so yeah make it obvious. cos i did fail that test and that went towards his decision, mainly failed though for not proving i could make it to 70mph on dual carriage way. regardless that the conditions were not good enough to be safe at that speed and even now in them conditions i wouldnt be at that speed. -

maccy why would you only use your mirrors if moving straight forward, what is in your mirrors is not in as much of an immediate danger (or danger to you) than what is in your blind spot. especially at crossings, life saver if you have stopped at a crossing. one thing that i had to learn to do when taking my test was to make it obvious that i was using my mirrors, remember a slight movement so that you can see can not always be detected by the person testing you so make sure he knows your looking in your mirror. Good luck! -
yes its soooo much easier with the wheel off, plus its a two min job the chain then sags and you can get at it better, plus there is no chance what so ever of a 'blond' moment. but if your not brave enough to take the wheel off then wheel off the floor.
-
DO NOT CLEAN WITH WHEEL ON AND IN GEAR TO 'MAKE IT EASIER' DO IT WITH WHEEL OFF AND ENGINE OFF!!!!! you are probably wondering why i am shouting this at you but, you asked a reasonable question that many haven't and they have done exactly as above and failed. normally resulting in a loss of digit.

now you understand why i like living round here
-
Definitely can't afford staying there for 3 weeks Is it even worth it going for 1 day and watchind either practice or practice+races??? this is why i suggest the manx at the end but tbh i went to the TT centenary and for the three weeks, including a new back tyre i spent around £700 in total, and i paid for camping, where as sulby is free. so it all depends on your spending habbits, mine went on alot of petrol.
-
it sounds silly but have you tried shaking the bike. this has been known to work lol
-
do you have a tent and are willing to live in it? if so dont listent o the doom and gloomers. get booking on 'the steam packet' yes its not cheap but...heres the trick...book two or three days before practice starts and travel back two or three days after it finishes, it cuts cost considerably, if you can afford the time off. its worth it. if i can get over there for the centeenary and book in april time for it i am sure you can manage it now. i have never booked for there in Januaray. as for camping, sully has a free campsite but you do have to move off afte 14 days and it is basic, kirk michael has a lovely campsite that i go to and they have lots of room. you can find it on the map, its opposite the school. its an experience people should have, if cost is to much or time off then look to going to the manx gp later on in the year, i personally prefer this as its not so full of cock sure twits.
-
OMG your nearly over my end of the country lol i will try for either you decide on but I am not sure what I will be doing till then so i cant commit.

the running in thing is an old issue when machining was not as finite as it is now, manufacturers dont actually expect you to run it in and therefore you dont have to. what i would suggest though is take it easy for a few mile before you cane it to get used to the bike, know what it feels like and just encase there is an issue. new bikes can go wrong. better to be safe than sorry
-
if after all the above fails, have you got a way to cool the bolt and heat the frame? baring that, throw away and start again with a bigger better bike pmsl
-
is there a bolt head you could put a socket on? if so i would try getting it to turn, lots of lubricant soaking in and torque wrench with a long leverage. if you can get it to turn you can get it out.
-
this is a possibility, the oil degrades and becomes thinner through use and therefore has less resistance. your manual should give you guidelines but tbh its not much of a job to change it so just get some new oil. if that doesnt help then look at your compression/rebound settings

Keeping leathers in shed??
bex replied to Spooks007's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
the only way i could see it being a problem is if you dont wear them regularly, i suffer it in my room, if not worn for a while damp attacks and its not nice, the smell is horrible and you get little white mould which wipes off but leaves like a shadow over the leather. if your wearing regularly then this wont be a problem as long as if you get them wet you dry them in the house properly. maybe get a clothes bag that you can zip them into and silicon storage bags to put in with them to absorb the damp? either that or you stand up to the girls on this one and say no lol -
my bad, i thought they had same rules,
-
very sad day, but i dont think the rules are that bad tbh, its up to the team and the rider to make a decision, i saw race 1 and the main problem was that the track didnt have the same conditions all the way round, but at the end of the day the rider is in control of the bike, i know its racing and you need to go faster than the one in front but you also have to make sure you can stay on the bike. lets see what happens with this ruling. thoughts go out to the family and friends

yet again i wont be able to make it here cos you keep planning it for a weekend i have cat in hells chance of having off work for any reason other than i cant physically walk. ie last years reason for being off lol have fun guys n gals
-
thankyou all for a lovely weekend, the venue was lovely and other than maybe a 2nd portaloo i dont think its bad. i will be there again next year with you all
-
I came to the conclusion that they like the draft as you drive past them... thats why they stand close/In the road. i dont mind them standing on the edge munching, but in the middle is a different matter esp when adult horses can fill the little road lol
-
my nob of the day goes to a horse, yes i know they are not aware of the highway code but when your a wild horse living on open land near roads you still know that moving objects that make noise are going to hurt you. you have got to adult hood so you obviously understand that when one of these noisy things are coming towards you moving out into the little road and standing side on is not going to end well. shift ya ass out the way!!!

well i raced from 21st to 13th in a few races but back down to 15th now, oh well, think i can get better
