2. Wonder Woman (the original 70s one) Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel
3. Sounds like a busy day. Amazing how much detail we remember and how tiring it is! Congrats.
4. I really dislike having my pockets full of stuff but I have no storage on my bike. I just wanted somewhere to put a little bit of cash and perhaps a usb charger. Then I stumbled across this. I don’t know what the quality is like (Ill update after it’s fitted and Ive used it a bit) but I thought some of you more adventurous types or (like me) allergic to carrying stuff types might be interested. A bit pricey for what it is, I’m sure theyll be other versions available. https://www.nippynormans.com/f650st-f650cs-f650gs-f650-dakar/number-plate-first-aid-kit
5. There are some great quotes on that tufty page " I used to be a member of your club. I was so proud, I put it on my CV and everything" If two people with the same qualifications turn up to a job, but only one lists being a member of the tufty club that could be the clincher. They’d be way ahead in my book, sense of humour or nutter either way they’d make for good work day entertainment!
6. Excellent I see a bright future for you
7. We get inspected fairly frequently due to the nature of the stuff we work with, but from what we can tell this was operator error: she manually disengaged the lid whilst the vessel was pressurised. The lid landed 20 feet away on the top of some 6-foot high racking: if it had hit her in the face it would have been a whole different story. The ambulance driver said they'd take her to A&E for a check, but they couldn't find anything wrong and thought she was just being a bit melodramatic. The hospital discharged her on the same basis and we told her to take tomorrow off. She's a great worker, but seems very accident-prone. She wrote her car off on the way back from her interview 3 months ago, and then did the same to the replacement a few weeks later by slamming into the back of a queue of stationary traffic on the A1 exit slip. Could just all be coincidence but doesnt sound like the sort of person you want in a lab or necessarily someone whos going to add to your bottom line. On the other hand everyone deserves a chance and I bet she doesnt make the same mistake again. Hope you’ve not got them on a permanent contract yet?
8. He'll be dandy I detect the qualities of a cool killer- you don't get that far in business without it, thats a compliment BTW Time first to release a little animal.... ">
9. Sorry mixed up my numbers, I meant 4 mins as in OP post.
10. Well it depends on the container and yes it possible to overcome anything- man made can be man broken but it you use them properly it doesn't take 6 mins, definitely took the thieves who took stole the drugs over an hour because we watched the CCTV footage with a glass of prosecco!
11. Well that’s where your protection will come from. It takes an hour minimum to anglegrind your way into a shipping container and there’s so many of them a thief has to know exactly what they want, which container it’s in and risk standing there with an angle grinder for a very long time. A bike thief just wouldn’t risk it, being fast is what stops them getting caught and they’ll get a much better haul on the road. My friend owns a shipping container storage site with 100s of containers and in 10+ years they’ve had one theft. That container had a very large quantity of drugs stored in it so was obviously deemed worth the risk. Caught them mind you because the people’s who’s drugs they were turned up to collect their bounty and the police took them down the station, they were so angry about being robbed they inadvertently whilst raging handed over the details of the thieves! So I reckon you’re beauty’s safe!
12. Dunno anything about trackers but I know a bit about shipping containers! Is it in a shipping container amongst many other shipping containers?
13. If they had installed them outside my primary school in the 1960s I probably wouldn't have been knocked down by a car . If you had paid attention to the green cross code or looked we're you was going you would not been knocked down. Ooh harsh! Primary school children can’t be expected to have good road sense! I’m in no way blaming this on a lack of adult supervision because you can think a child’s fine and suddenly they do something out of the blue but I had to physically get hold of one of my sons every time we were anywhere near a road or in a car park for years and years and years. Even now he’s in double digits we’re all still looking to see if he’s paying attention ready with a shout or grab to stop the distracted so n so stepping out!! He’s not on his own, I know many other parents with the same problem. Children are often oblivious, caught up in their own world and even if they’re not many are very easily distracted.
14. @fastbob just had a look at the Tufty club- only a very special kind of special could get that load of nonsense. Scroll down to the comments at the bottom of the page in green- it definitely appealed to a very specific sector of society https://www.rospa.com/about/history/tufty/
15. Speed cameras outside schools are effective and whilst they still have a slow down and speed up effect they don’t cause the stop start that is more polluting. Nitrogen dioxide and nitrogen oxide are no child’s friends.
16. Sorry your breaks off. The elbow part you’re describing is always a tricky bit to heal, takes longer because its so mobile and generally bony. Bit like when you scrape a knuckle or knee, takes a lot longer to heal than anywhere else because it’s always being moved.
17. They’ve recently installed them outside a primary school near me and I really couldn’t believe it. When you consider that pollution levels outside schools should be kept to a minimum to prevent breathing problems and other long term health issues why the hell would you do that outside a school? It’s irresponsible. The councils should be doing everything they can to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. Morons.
18. First half is we've met some brilliant people, an amazing sense of generosity and interest. People have taken us into their homes, fed us, bought us food out, one guy took a day off to ride with us and gave my partner a gel seat pad, another guy took us out shooting in the Nevada dessert for example. People are quick to speak to us and wish us well and help if they can. The landscape is varied and beautiful of course. The other half are the sicknesses of the modern world, laziness, everything is drive thru to avoid any movement, food is available in low quality massive portions. homelessness is rife and desperate when juxtaposed with the obvious wealth. There are a number of other minor things I'm uncomfortable with, prescription drugs being advertised on tv as sales pitches, and the like. Issues that face most places I guess. I feel more aware here that whilst people are generally good problems go unsolved. Sounds like a lot of countries problem wise. The good bits sound fantastic. After a long day on my bike I always get into a car and think ooh this is comfy, what a great idea! The air con is worth its weight so it’s sounds like just the ticket for the end of your trip. Via when your legs fixed up good n proper there’s no reason you couldn’t do Route 66. Whilst layed up a while back I spent weeks cheering myself up with various road trip plans. It’s nice to have something positive to look forward to. Plus there’s so much involved in the planning hours can be wasted in a pleasant fantasy land bubble!
19. Regarding travelling by car or bike I suppose you wont know til the end of the trip whether the pleasure outweighed the pain! It sounds like endurance sports, some of its tough and no fun but the satisfaction you get at the end is something you hold on to and relive forever. Well maybe, just guessing. What are the two halves of the US youve seen?
20. Happy birthday Quality cider time
