1. So your saying well over 2000 miles might be pushing it? the poor chain must be gasping for some lube. The lubes in the van and the poor little links will be quenched first thing tomorrow.
2. I started reading a thread this morning that I left to do some work and now I can’t find it. It was two people who have gone to America. They left beginning July and are out there now. Can’t remember much else apart from he had 3 months off work and the start of the thread was checklists as they got ready and they had just posted pictures on there. Anyone know what I’m babbling on about and where I can find it?

4. Well yes isn’t polite that’s for sure but when someone’s behaved very poorly in your direction then as a form of communication it’s better than shouting or violence. Why do you suddenly want to communicate with some random shit driver that you have never met ? There is nothing to be achieved here . Just ride on . I’m a communicative person I don’t do it at all on my bike because normally the type of person who’d be salute worthy would be the sort I’d be busy avoiding and trying to stay alive! However (and I really can’t remember the last time I did this) sometimes it’s good for stress relief in the same way swearing can let off a little steam. I have to drive through a busy village (Banwell high street is one to avoid!) almost every day that in sections is only wide enough for one car. The car drivers at the top can see if there’s space for them at the bottom but for purely selfish reasons often push forward and gridlock the whole place, sometimes it can take and hour to get through. Mistakes or bad driving doesn’t bother me but when drivers are deliberately selfish it does get on my pip.
5. Oh how can I tell what I have? send them an email and ask. [email protected] Thanks might leave it a minute before bugging them as I’ve emailed them twice today asking what oil to use, if it’s a wet clutch and could they post me out a new brake lever owing to an oops in the car park rendering the other one a bit curvier than usual. Only £14 for a new brake lever though which sounds pretty good value.
6. The woman outside the dentists who turned into the road fast and on the wrong side of the road causing my other half to break sharply and sat there staring at at us like it was our fault. She eventually pulled left onto her side and when the windows were just about level and her route ahead was clear shouted “Get out of my f*cking way” Really bugs me when a road user totally messes up and because of your action there’s no accident and then they get shirty with you. The ones who shake there heads at you after they’ve carved you up are my pet hate! I hope there’s a special place in hell for those people
7. Oh ok thanks, sounds like an expensive chain and not the sort you’d find on a Chinese 125! They're fairly standard now.. been around since the early 1970s. In the early days they were expensive and restricted to certain machinery.. now they're practically standard on motorcycles of all kinds. even the cheapest. Oh how can I tell what I have?
8. its effectively a seal.. that keeps grease inside the chain where a lot of wear would normally take place. They also keep grit and other contaminants out.. both attributes extend the life of the chain. Oh ok thanks, sounds like an expensive chain and not the sort you’d find on a Chinese 125!
9. Thanks all. Am going to have a look at the automatic dispensers. Shall be amending my sparse schedule accordingly! Don’t know what an o ring is though?
10. It's an insulting gesture and believe it or not there are people still in existence who believe that is not an acceptable reaction . Behaviour breeds behaviour. Well yes isn’t polite that’s for sure but when someone’s behaved very poorly in your direction then as a form of communication it’s better than shouting or violence.
11. Thanks for that. I’m hoping when I check it tomoz I don’t have an “oh dear” moment! How often do you check your tyre pressure?
12. Bike looks good. Love the Mansell building. Sorry to any architects who read this but most modern buildings are so dull!
13. Oh I’ve not even looked at it once a week- oops. When I have looked at it the tensions been fine and I’ve not had to make any adjustments. Going to have to amend what I’m doing
14. That’s good value.looks like it will do the job nicely.
15. Some advice please. I’ve never cleaned or lubed my bike chain. How often should this be done and is it the same as a bicycle- puts some cleaner on, give it a scrub, rinse it off and spray some lube on?
16. How much did that set you back if you don’t mind me asking?
17. Hmm feel the need to apologise for my own forum ignorance. I’ll keep it brief. Sorry for the lack of introduction, didn’t understand the form.
18. Its just not me, Im the Quiet One ....I believe people that shout and act like that are cowards and dickheads There are 2 riders in my town that think they are in Sons Of Anarchy on their HD's with their WW2 German helmets (true I swear) ...they just look like Bully Idiots as they do it to EveryOne! Not sure but may even be illegal? Well only a big illegal, it’s down to interpretation. ‘Violation of public order’ could be used on its own but generally they will find something else to prosecute you with. I’m sure some other folk on here will be some the wiser than myself. I’m no coward and I think mostly not too much of a dickhead but sometimes salutes are the only way to communicate displeasure.
19. Owww, not sure which post hurts most
20. Nope I’ve definitely missed something, fill the dumb one in?!
21. Not necessarily .... #1 Post by MarkW » July 7th, 2018, 10:17 am I have been running my own business for the last 11 years. Until recently there were just 11 of us based in the UK, but we have just opened new offices in Europe with nine of the top people from our biggest competitor. As well as the obvious national differences in culture, there is also a big difference in business culture. I've spent years fighting for survival against huge competitors who are several hundred times bigger than us, getting us to the point where we are now universally recognised as the global experts in our field, and doing battle with massive multinational clients who think they can push us around because they are multi-billion dollar giants. I have seen enough industry 'big guns' crash and burn when they try to set up their own companies to be completely unfazed by these people - many of whom are no more than pseudo-businessmen with grossly inflated egos. My new colleagues, on the other hand, have always had the luxury of a guaranteed pay check every month, and take a much more subservient 'customer is king' approach. Last week we had a meeting with a huge client that we had last worked for a couple of years ago, and when they asked what discount we'd offer if we were 'lucky enough' to win the contract the new guys were a bit surprised by my response: "If you give us the contract I assume it will be for one of two reasons: either we were the cheapest, in which case a discount would be unnecessary, or we were the best, in which case it would be an insult. Either way, there is no discount. Frankly, I'm astounded that you have the audacity to sit there and ask for a discount given that in my 11 years of trading yours is only the second company I have had to threaten with legal action to get my money out of: the first was a tiny three-man outfit that didn't have a pot to piss in, so you're not exactly in august company. And let me also disabuse you straight away of any notion that a small business like mine is going to beg and plead to do business with a huge multinational like yours. Overexposure to big clients who don't pay their bills is fatal to small companies, so before we talk any further about this project I need some assurances that you intend to honour your contractual obligations this time. If you do, we'll be happy to do business with you, but if not we'll be just as happy for you to take your debts to one of our competitors. And before you ask about discounts for prompt payment, we don't offer any. We work on the negative reinforcement principle: we don't reward people for paying on time, we punish them for being late. Last time we worked for you we were still chasing big invoices eight months after they were due: this time we'll pull the plug on your whole project far sooner than that, and leave you to explain why to your bosses. I don't want to appear completely intransigent though, so I am prepared to leave our late payment penalties at the same rate as last year." @sSix30 Yep necessarily!!
