1. Too torn to choose between Blue eyes crying in the rain - Willie Nelson or Crying in the Rain- Everly Brothers Same difference so take your pick!
2. Oh grizzly youre just having a moment. Everyone starting out has them. Stand next to your machine as still as can be and take a moment to think why am I doing this? The answer will motivate you to get on..... or off The chance of freedom in the tiny life we have was enough for me. Good luck. Im not religious but urr gods speed!
3. That’s a different angle, six30 the wildlife lover. Hang on perhaps it’s not
4. I see lots of Beavers I’m an active member in my local stream and river widening club . Is this a euphemism I don’t understand
5. I have to ask what can a tree do for a bike mechanically? Was the bike made of wood? If so that might explain why it wooden go boom boom! Bungleaio I think your going on a great trip that you’ll remember for your entire life, hopefully one of many! As your new to it (as am I) I look forward to hearing all about your adventure and the riding went. Enjoy!
6. Can’t wait to hear how its goes! Good luck.
7. Great pics Gold panning, are you now a multi millionaire? Is it too late for the Crater of diamonds park? https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks/crater-diamonds-state-park Look forward to seeing some whale pics Six30 Where are you? He said he’d seen Beavers?!?!
8. Very nice DaveG Many happy hours ahead for you!
9. All part of the joys me thinks!
10. Congratulations Good luck with the next step.
11. One of mine won't even be persuaded onto a barge holiday or take a ferry crossing. He can't stand open water, his daft teacher showed them the soppy nonsense that is 'Titanic' when they in junior school and far to young so that followed up by his brothers shark obsession nailed that. It does sound great. One day I will go on a boating holiday. Not a cruise though, they always look like Butlins on a boat!
12. Sounds dreadful. How long ago was this? It sounds like poverty. Recent events aside Ive never really considered Italy a poor nation but then Ive only been to the alps which were lovely. How long were you there before deciding it was too unpleasant?
13. I admire your resolve, I mainly rely on mechanics
14. Yep you will look back on it with wonder. I was riding along yesterday and had a giggle at my former self when I found myself at the top of a hill that I had resolved when completely new to it (ie my second day out) to never ever go up again as I was never ever going to be able to get the hang of a hill start right turn on an incline that sharp. Had to laugh because I’d already done the manoeuvre before I realised where I was. It’ll come.
15. Congratulations and as many others will say- now the learning begins! Quiet car parks until you feel confident you’ve master the clutch and breaks. Take a look at MCrider on you tube, he’s a huge fan of car park drills to give people control. Once you get stuck into it you’ll start to relax it will all become easier. Nope I did not ride after my CBT- didn’t have a bike! Would have been too tired anyway!
16. Yes probably should of!
17. Yes I’ve seen them and contemplated getting one myself. Thanks for the write up.
18. I also overheard the examiner saying to one guy “I understand you have trouble with your hips, if you wish to stop at any point please feel free to pull over and rest your legs” Nice ay!
19. All sounds most promising I have some vague recollection of needing a letter from your GP or the like stating your difficulties although that maybe for something else. Best check that bit. But then my instructor told the examiner about me being directionally challenged so they didn’t get too annoyed they were perfectly lovely about it and said they acknowledged I wouldn’t be doing it on purpose- apparently some people do it deliberately to avoid turns at difficult roundabouts and junctions.
20. I’ve never had biscuits make it out of the packet into a tin. Thats something made up for TV! Grumpy Old Git I say cakey tasting because they don’t taste of cake either!
21. Lol, shudder at thought, especially with the family history- grandmother, aunt, my mother and 3 of 4 cousins all sprogging out well into their 40’s. Nutters.
22. Sound stuff from our travel guru. And maybe avoid their bridges! 12 bridge collapses in recent years. Apparently much worse in southern Italy as the level of collusion with the Mafia was higher and a lot of unfortified concrete was used- little cement and lots of sand. Not that it would stop me going. Or using the bridges, wouldn’t have a clue how to avoid them! Might consider the Dolomites option though!
23. I’ve woken up fancying Jaffa cakes! I wonder what that means the biscuit gods of fate have lined up for me today..... probably a trip to the supermarket to find some stale cakey tasting weirdLy orange dolloped biscuits.
