  1. What you riding @Ellyt247? Or perhaps your not yet?
  2. Haven’t ridden much at all over the last twoish years. Looking at the photos has rekindled the desire, will be dusting off my trusty steed later and digging out some ridiculous looking kit for a bike ride this week. It will no doubt be very painful Doing a scenic coastal LEJOG on mobike as soon as lockdown lifts with someone who used to knock about on here. Can’t wait. Never got into Audax and only did a few sportives cos prefer cycling on my tod. @Bender you can jest, I have been stalked on the bicycle more times than I can remember. It completely creeps you out to start with but then you kinda feel sorry for them, they have no idea what they’re doing. Like a lot of people they see something and just follow it. I developed an excellent swift method of disposal by just repeatedly shouting “SORRY I CANT HEAR YOU IM DEAF” suddenly your not what they were looking for
  3. I got so lost I did 72miles rather than 60 so whoevers behind me is either also a directionless idiot or they werent ready to cycle 60miles
  4. Yer the end of a 60 mile sportive a couple of years ago. Got completely lost and did the worse parts of the mendips twice, bike broke and majority of gears didn’t work for most of it. Very happy to finally finish.
  5. I tend to avoid posting pics of myself (and having any taken) but just so your not the only prat in lycra here you go.
  6. Afraid I don’t have a leather onesie, a friend of mine does a lot of track racing and somehow she makes them look amazing. I can do a pretty good impression of Bibendum in my winter gear though
  7. If you ever work with the elderly you’ll find a lot seem to rediscover the stuff that gave them kicks as a kid and cos eventually most people stop caring what others think they really enjoy themselves often in the most childish ways. Tis one of the things I really like about old folk. Im chuckling just thinking about it... but also- sorry about your rod
  8. That is my point. Dressing up like Batman or Rossi isn’t really any more infantile than any hobby or pastime. Where your line is of what’s “too far” is unsurprisingly just on the other side of what you consider appropriate for your hobby. Some people with what they consider are more highbrow pastimes would think what you spend your spare time doing (motorbikes) and what I like doing (motorbikes) infantile.
  9. Ive not seen that one.
  10. All tantrums are an entertaining waste of time.
  11. Sounds good under the circumstances. Pic of the bobber model?
  12. Most hobbies are infantile. Dancing, swimming, bowling (grown up marbles), boats, train sets, football, bashing a drum, motorbikes... all things you’ll find five year olds are into. Most of us don’t change that much, getting fat n old doesn’t preclude them from enjoying the things they do. An imaginary list of approved activities once you hit a certain age or weight is sadly restrictive. I just see it as someone indulging in whatever turns them on even if it appears a bit silly to me. I can’t argue the reality gap is often pretty comedic and the tantrums that can go with them are very funny.
  13. Now he’s doing that social media influencer thing of playing down him living it up while us normies make do with getting excited it might not rain one day next week and if it’s not icey and you wear enough layers maybe an hour or two out in the bike might be possible.. oh wait it’s not we’re locked down. Get away with ya!
  14. Sorry about that. Think Aladdin on one of his girly days
  15. A lot of the adventure bikes to seem to make the best tourers. The higher the comfort level the easier the miles are, the more you can enjoy the ride and the destination. If I could handle the weight and height of a GS I’d have one. I really don’t care how people dress though, if someone wants to ride in a leather onsie, the full blown hipster vibe, adventure gear or fancy dress that’s fine with me. As long they don’t ride like an idiot if they’re happy I’m happy for them to enjoy whatever fantasy they’re indulging in. If they’re thinking they’re Spiderman for a few hours there’s no harm in it. Personally I wear whatever suits the weather. At the moment I’m rocking a snowmobile suit that would give Mr Blobby a run for his money. I have excellent waterproofs that make binliners look stylish, well vented touring trousers, riding jeans and when it’s really sunny I wear large floral trousers- very airy.
  16. Callipers.
  17. No I don’t cos for me it’s too easy to rest my foot on the brake.
  18. Kept in a dehumidified garage which is fairly temperature stable. We’re talking a powerful burning smell over time, not a whiff that faded. Has been left unridden for longer than 3 weeks before with out any problems
  19. Oh yeh hadn’t thought about that. Thanks.
  20. Hmm tricky one, if you could have it and have mild symptoms only (or none) it would be good to know because it’s obviously not gonna getchya, on the other hand you don’t want it do you! Fingers crossed.
  21. I’ll have another look at it after lunch when there’s someone about to give me a hand to get it on its centre stand, for some reason even though it weighs the same as the other bikes it’s heavier?!
  22. Ive obviously missed something, not the evil Covid I hope?
