  1. He’s a student, it’ll be the caravan of love stand up, stand up, staaand uuup My two are a year apart and should finish at the same time. The expected parental contribution is eye wincing for one let alone two. Have you watched the money box guy Martin Lewis’ guide? It’s worth a watch.
  2. Surprisingly Weston where we live has the course with highest ranking, they know him and have guaranteed him a place so that’s the back up. Then he chose on the course and ratings which meant Guildford and both Bristol Uni’s. He wants Bristol and really so do I. If everything goes tits up he can always come back, live at home n commute. He’s deferring til 2022 so he can earn money to give him some sort of cushion. You have two going at the same time?
  3. They have killed a cyclist haven’t they?
  4. Doesn’t look like it’s worth that sort of money but for less I’d be tempted.
  5. That’s probably right but ‘Jetboil’ is a brand that charges a fortune for something that looks just like yours. I’m talking 90-140 quid, that’s the jetboil that kicked off the conversation.
  6. Yes it’s a distinct possibility isn’t it but I’d rather he did something he enjoyed and hopefully has a good time before settling into a McDs job. It’s all a bit bleak on that front, especially now so if I can give him four more years of being young, carefree and optimistic I’d rather that cos one way or another life’s coming for ya and once it starts it doesn’t stop!
  7. The coldest I’ve ever been in a vehicle was doing the 5 o'clock milking on the farm where the fields back straight onto the sea, a cab-less tractor in the icey January gale force winds blowing in off the channel trying to get the cattle in in the pitch black, real pitch black, no lighting. Brrrrr I don’t think even the -30 degree temperature I experienced in Canada can top that. Hosing down the milking parlour with the coldest water I’ve ever encountered was impossible to do without getting wet yourself and then having to get back on the tractor. It’s no wonder I have an obsession with cold weather gear now
  8. Just finished helping my son submit his university application so I’m wide awake which is annoying. I read his personal statement and feel bad I’ve intervened but if you read it you would too. It was really sweet, his family obviously mean a lot to him because he mentions nearly all of us at some point! It’s hard knowing whether university is worth the bother in a lot of areas now but I suppose I’d rather they were in education while covid works it’s evil on the unemployment figures. I should probably just be grateful it’s an option.
  9. We’ll chip in and get him a butler, just tell them Stu needs the money for something, it’ll roll in
  10. Briefly cold, he has a heated seat and wheel
  11. Well you say that but I remember a thread some time ago with your things catching fire, a bike and something else that escapes my memory? Agree instant food is appealing after a long ride which is why I wondered what the sachets are.
  12. Still bites when you think back to it though doesn’t it. When I think back to having no money I wonder how we managed, I’d probably struggle to believe where I am now.. and think I was wasteful, I can’t imagine previous me approving of having more than one bike
  13. I also like it even tho it looks like a mishmash of different era’s. Not keen on the exhaust seams and it’s very wide. I’d like some old fashioned mudguards that actually do the job of stopping the bike getting splattered. Oh and it being 100kg lighter
  14. Joint account with separate accounts for pocket money. An arrangement I highly recommend because it totally removes the need/desire to justify spending on something the other one doesn’t appreciate. Pocket money is yours to waste or save no questions asked. This set up leads to guilt free spending (or not it’s up to you alone what you do with it) so for example today new training gear turned up for my husband, he’s happy and says “What do you think of my new gear?” I say “very nice, it suits you” this enhances his enjoyment and he’s even smilier. But if it wasnt his pocket money and it was coming out of the joint account I’d be saying “how much was it? why do you need more training gear, you have loads” Id be thinking about wasting money we could be saving. With pocket money all’s good, it’s a win win.
  15. That’ll be the thing that needs looking at.
  16. No Im having a conversation about spoons that are good for eating noodles but have never eaten them before I buy plain noodles- on there own, there’s nothing else in the packet, I flavour them myself and mistakenly assumed you did the same so wondered what the sachets were. Didn’t know grown ups ate the other sort, always assumed they were meant for children and students
  17. It was past it’s use by date then?
  18. Looking good. That tinfoils done a great job. I reluctantly tried it on the Himalayan exhaust (literally held my breath cos I thought it was such a daft idea) and the results were amazing, wish I’d taken a before and after picture.
  19. @fastbob looks great apart from the hideous plastic fork Im curious what these semi poisonous sachets are?
  20. It hurts because it’s utterly wrong. I look forward to a day when no-one gives a fig. I might be wrong but it’s feels like we’re on our way somewhere better.
  21. If you try to reverse something and its not ok then there’s something there that needs looking at and in this scenario I can’t imagine ‘vagina woman’ the woman who can’t control her vagina
  22. Was it trooper?
  23. Sounds odd doesn’t it and I don’t know the answer so not a lot of help
  24. Yep I always thought the Danish more liberated in body matters but I just can’t see this one at all. It’s just weird.
