  1. I struggled to nail the MOD1 stuff. Actually the thing that got me was the long turn on the run-up it seamed stupid fast. . All I can recommend is to find an industrial site when its quiet and practice on the 125. Its just repetition. I used split tennis balls for the markers. good luck.
  2. If you think this is bad, wait until Brexit either happenes or doesn't. Either way, the natives will be revolting.
  3. Whatever happens:- There are more bikes than money. Its a commodity and salesmen WILL be prepared to haggle even if it looks like that they won't Be prepared to walk away from a deal. In fact, start by looking at the worst deals, furthest away first just for practice at "walking away". Leave you number. You might get a phone call - Then YOU are in the driving seat.
  4. You're right. No focusing at all. That's why I'm asking the question. Is 75% ok? Or is that considered soggy? Preload/spring rate / wrong oil , but only if matters. I'm not looking for performance or I wouldn't be on a CBR500. I AM looking to stay shiny side up, and suspension is probable the second most important element of a bike. Mr Honda knows more than me but perhaps he didn't anticipate a 93kg bloke expanding his skill level!
  5. 0/ http:// 2/ from static to bottoming out is a length. I'm using 3/4 of that length. Should I change that or leave it? HOW should I change it? OIL, proload, or stiffer spring? 3/ I can do that. 4/ at the front? I've never done that I'll do this In the morning.
  6. 1/ Cable tie on the front shock tells me that I'm using 75% of the travel. Should I think about adjusting? The 2015 CBR500R doesn't have preload adjuster and its the stock spring, so a change would mean some kind of aftermarket part. 2/ He adjusts the handlebar angle to line up with the rider's knuckles. My handlebars have a pin that stops me doing that. Is that the same for most bikes?
  7. I just renewed my insurance with MCE. Here's the thing. They provide Track day cover And obviously road cover but if I do a training course that's isn't actually on a track they don't cover it. Seriously. I labored the point and asked it every way I could. Its AT a circuit but not ON the circuit. So, since the devil is in the detail, if I did a track day, would I be a covered driving from the road to the paddock? Am I covered at Tesco's?
  8. I just checked the wife's Keyway Light. The pipes are on the other side. Thanks for the heads up though.
  9. You probably meant to write "steel" and yes it would. I used to have my own mig set. It will do it but I was hoping for more eligant. I just finished working for a company which pretty much spent all its time TIG welding stainless. Almost seamless.
  10. What WILL do some good is educating members of this forum about Cardo. I bought mine partly because of the Ryan F9 video expressing praise for Cardo's waranttee policy. Update: *I contacted the Italian vendor who sent my details to the Italian support in Milan. *They sent me a returns form, which I filled in and returned. *The say they are waiting for courier details (GLS don't ship to the UK except via Parcel force. God knows how they pickup!) *The send me a tracking number. I wait. No one contacts me and the contract is cancelled ( my CCTV guarantees that no one called). So a week on and no further. So, yeah. I will wail about it if you don't mind. Its £200 and it broke. I didn't rough handle it. The USB ripped clean out after 3 months use. People need to know that. People need to know that unlike Garmin's policy of "send it you the nearest base", Cardo's support only extends to its own country's units. So don't buy outside your own country and don't move. To be fair, Pama have offered to get in touch with Cardo, but that's because Cardo don't release their email or phone number. Why are they hiding? Sena support took a google search to find and includes a telephone number https://www.sena.com/company/contact-us Garmin's is more virtual but track-able and there are humans involved https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/
  11. Not bike related but this is where the artisans live:- My other interest is Samba drumming. Simple stuff; an aluminum shell, a skin mounted to a wooden hoop at each end, compressed by steel rims with long rods between them. My problem is that the metal rings have stretched over time and they slip off the hoops. What I need to do is cut and shut the rings a bit tighter. I can do all of the weld prep and I've done it before, but I don't have access to welding kit any more. TIG would be favorite since its only 12 x 3mm thick.
  12. Yeah but I want to know what happened. It looks like Robbrown left the forum though. I guess he must be 26 years old by now.
  13. Yeah, but cars are designed with a radiator size appropriate for their amount of grill.
  14. obviously it does but has anyone anyone had any experience of it causing a problem? In the UK we rairly see above 34°C , but my Honda CBR500 doesn't have a gauge (my CBR125 did ) so I can't see if I'm pushing a limit.
  15. Gopro hero3 on a chin mount stuck on with sugru. DONE! I use it every day. I needed to buy some other bits on ebay to get the angle right. Like this guy.
  16. Is there a standard for the zip that fixes jackets to trousers? I see full zip and half zip but is that manufacturer specific? Could I buy an Oxford jacket and Richa trousers?
  17. update: The direct number of the returns department is 0161 494 4330. The email is [email protected] They need serial number a probably proof of purchase. I will have to wail until Monday.
  18. at least its not a potential black hole. You never know with the interweb. I like ....people
  19. Does anyone have a UK telephone number for Cardo systems in the UK? The MiniUSB socket of my pactalk slim broke out. There is an "ask us a question" box in the help section but I don't have faith in those.
  20. how did you start? where do/can you ride? I don't want to take it up as a serious hobby but I'd like to dabble on a low powered bike to improve my poor conditions handling skills. Yes, I could book a course but then I'd never practice.
  21. Technically, your contract is always with the seller (whatever a seller might tell you) so its always them that you should complain to. I'll give them vote #20. They are the Wiggle of the Moto world. The only thing is the Wiggle always over deliver by including a bag of Harribo (nice gesture). SBS should follow this ...... or possibly biscuits.
  22. Anyone know a place that actually stocks the book or do I need to be patient and buy from Ama-zen ?
  23. Like learning from what happened or maybe campaigning to improve whatever caused it.
  24. Keith Code. I should go back to this. Gentle throttle control is not an issue. My worry was that as a car driver for maaaany years. I naturally apply a little power on corners because it adds grip and stability in a car. My worry was that the opposite might be true on a bike. I'm doing a CSS/Bennets "cornering confidence" course in August. Maybe it will all become clear then.
  25. Yesterday afternoon 4 July 19. Anyone know what happened?
