  1. The last marina we kept our boat in Bangor NI didn't really like liveaboards although at one point maybe 20% of the bigger boats were. However a new marina opened up in Belfast city which was cheaper and welcoming to liveaboards so most shifted there. A lot of the folks were working in Belfast as well so it made sense in so many ways. I still regret selling the boat but I can charter one for 2 weeks for less than it was costing me to run. Plus the maintenance of course.
  2. Who was that? I've had a set delivered last month from Ultimate Ear and I've used them before as they made the earplugs that worked best for me.
  3. Change of plan. All training cancelled so a day's prepping wasted. Mooring to Odudu Single Buoy Mooring instead for second half of cargo. All good as the quicker we finish here the quicker we get on to the next voyage.
  4. Swinger? You may want to rephrase that unless you know something different?
  5. We kept ours in Bangor Northern Ireland. Looked at one of the Clyde marinas but even then they were about £1500 more than we were paying. Used to sail the Clyde quite a lot especially in from October through to April. In the summer months tended to go up the West Coast and the Isles. Great fun.
  6. Given I was spending over 3 grand a year for marina fees 9 years ago a one off £1600 sounds like a winner. One of the reasons I sold mine and it wasn't huge - 10.5 m.
  7. No we have to conduct various drills to rehearse disasters and mayhem. You wouldn't believe the crap I had to jump through after the recent shunt in the North Sea! There's a degree of logic to it though and it's largely me conducting the training in this case.
  8. Saturday is training day so have to plan for that and Sunday we are scheduled to load the second part of this cargo. Not the best weekend ever.
  9. On the subject of Aussie bands i used to quite like Cold Chisel back in the day.
  10. Congratulations, now time to enjoy biking and the summer coming up too. Winner.
  11. My last bike is untaxed and has no MOT. It is still listed with the dealer I part exchanged with for virtually the same amount they gave me. I'm surprised they haven't shifted it on as it was a decent bike in good nick. Almost tempted to buy it back as an extra. If I had storage space I would, maybe.
  12. Saw that tractor crash in the online news. Looks like it demolished 2 houses and hit a car. Like to see how it supposedly happened. Having seen some of the local tractors hurtling along at silly speeds scattering crap everywhere could be interesting.
  13. Dead on arrival.
  14. I'm 67 with an inside leg of 31 inches. I did find that occasionally was a handicap on the Multistrada but the Guzzi which is 5kg heavier is a doddle. I'm not planning on giving up bike until I'm DOA.
  15. My day was crap. Got cleared into Nigeria by the usual bunch of bandits masquerading as officials. Cost me $1500 in "fines" aka bribes so the bast*rds do what they are supposed to. At least they do it with a smile. Although when one said i was like a father to him I was able to reply that I was certainly never married to his mother. I think that was a bit over his head.
  16. Quiet day at the embassy is it?
  17. That's as maybe and I wish you well with your new bike regardless of where it's made and what badge it wears on the tank. If you get as much pleasure from yours as I do from mine you'll be doing alright. However for various personal reasons I will not buy a bike made by a Chinese owned company nor anything else if I can avoid it.
  18. Actually I don't trust China to make a damned thing and whenever possible try not to buy something from there even if it costs more.
  19. Never owned one but it was THE bike i lusted after when I was 17.
  20. That has to be a winner. If it's the bike you genuinely fancy what's not to like?
  21. Bikes are like most things - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  22. Bought a new exhaust system for my bike. As its made to order it shoul be ready before I get home in May.
