  1. Today has been a shite day literally. Got some horrible bug that has me shackled to the toilet for over 24 hours now. Eaten nothing but still producing. Obviously full of sh... but no surprise there! Feeling very sorry for myself.
  2. So have I ridden in a lot of rain and if it's heavy rain i wear both. The overjacket is breathable too so it's not defeating the purpose of the goretex. If it was the plastic bag type it would and I wouldn't.
  3. Never worn a sou'wester in my life. Bloody fishermen do.
  4. That's worth bearing in mind as if you claim to have something but for whatever reason aren't using it then you make it easier for the insurers to screw you over even more.
  5. If the rain is likely to be heavy or persistent and I've got a longish ride ahead then the waterproofs go on over the laminated kit. It does keep the water off and as Capt Sisko said keeps you warmer.
  6. I never had that problem. I guess it depends on the original set up. Looking at changing horn on my current bike as its somewhat pathetic. A feeble peep. Unfortunately it's not so easy to do as it was on the Multistrada where it was literally plug and play.
  7. I had a sound bomb on last bike and it was simply a matter of removing oem horn and fitting new one. I'm assuming your bike does have an existing hrn?
  8. Could be something lost in translation but I don't seehow air bubbles can be mistaken for metal filings. Surely you touched it and rubbed it between your fingers. Any metal would be immediately obvious as would bubbles. Confused I am.
  9. My most recent one was on the doormat about 5 days after I got done but that was a bike cop with a mobile camera not a fixed one. I was in car though and as he was only using a front view camera if I'd been on bike I'd have been clear.
  10. I'm not looking at the tethered one but the remote sensor version hence my query about potholes. Can't be doing with tethers as I have enough issues with plug in heated gear.
  11. I like Metzlers, had them on the Ducati but I found they error prone to suddenly wearing at the end of their life. They'd look decent but 700 miles later They'd be squared off and the tread would seemingly evaporate. Currently got Continentals but haven't made up mind about them yet.
  12. Yep if i get one that's the one I was thinking about. Does the fork stem adapter get bothered by potholes? I've visions of hitting a pothole and finding myself becoming an instant michelin man.
  13. There's a section of M5 south of the Gordano Services junction where 4 lanes merge into 3 just at the brow of a long uphill straight. Virtually every month there's a shunt there, often at high speed when someone goes hooning up the hill, ignores all the signs warning that the outer lane has to merge and finds themselves straight into the back end of slower moving traffic with nowhere to go.
  14. I'm a bit ambivalent about an air vest. I can see the pros but for me a downside is I often wear a backpack and I'm pretty sure they aren't compatible. If I did buy one I would go for the tethered option for all the reasons stated above.
  15. I use laminated gear (not always Goretex) and ridden from Morpeth to Stroud in monsoon rain all the way. Not pleasant but I was dry except for a damp collar as there's no way to stop water seeping down. In summer months when my gear isn't laminated I use a Scott 2 piece which works well, especially the jacket. Summer gloves? I'm in the market for an allegedly waterproof pair.
  16. If we're going to be picky we prefer merchant seaman. Sailors are WAF idiots.
  17. Just a bit unless you're a passenger ship man. Which i am emphatically not.
  18. I was going to write steam off another bodily waste product but thought that was a bit uncouth being posh and all.
  19. Just can't get my head round this. I want a decent bike so I'll mooch off some other poor saps? I wouldn't give them a bent brass washer.
  20. And the dead badgers / foxes.
  21. Sounds like Gloucester.
  22. Probably but I'd rather not commit a crime where my ear could be used in evidence against me!
  23. From what I gather you can rob folks blind and get away with it but if you say hurty words about someone on social media they are all over you like a bad rash.
  24. Okay. I've used Ultimate Ear before and they've now got a digital record of my ears so I dont need to faff around with molds in future. I'd have been sad if they'd gone belly up.
  25. I know what the other F is too and don't entirely agree with the sentiment. Totally agree with what floats but no experience of something that flies.
