  1. I've fitted a carbon fibre extender to the front mudguard and a fibreglass hugger to the rear to at least reduce the crap that gets thrown over the rad and rear shock
  2. It's got to be @fastbob, for putting up with the 6v to 12v mod poster that thankfully is now silent
  3. time for some thinking outside the box. the brackets that hold the coil pack to the frame should have spacers behind them so a distance is maintained between frame and HT coil. it may be possible, if you do not have the spacers, that the coil is arcing to the frame rather than at the plug, as current will take the path of least resistance
  4. not just today, but part of it, while off before xmas I started to respray the replacement front cowl for the 600, only to discover the base coat paint I thought I had bought turned out to be a top coat (colour is pearl sienna red), and base coat is actually a silvery colour, with a red topcoat to get the right tone for matching. So, having now got all the correct paints from one Uk supplier instead of from Germany where I got the other, on friday I went to my garage to bring the panels back here and strip back to the beginning, ready for redoing. I put both panels in a drawstring bag that I wore across my back and over my shoulder. my trip home involves town roads so at 30-40mph, and a good stretch of dual carriageway so get going at a good lick. got home only to find I no longer have the panels?????? have been back over my route twice but there is no sign of them.
  5. What did you fit? Any video yet? Its called motorcycle recorder don't have any other details than that, but it's a dual front a rear camera set up, got it off Ebay for around 30 quid. I will be getting out on the bike on Monday so I'll get some footage then if you have bought the same one as I did it says data is corrupted when recorded on 1080p. I bought two so I could have one on each bike without having to swap stuff around and both are the same so I leave it in 720p mode full time
  6. there should be a earth wire between the top engine bracket and the wiring loom
  7. Tbh anything much above 125-140 gets uncomfortable pretty quickly I much prefer being at around 90-110 if I'm on motorway I've not done more than about 120 on either of mine. on a naked with just a fly screen the air rushing pass nearly takes your head off, and you need massive neck muscles to compensate. I'm not sure the 600 is much faster but have not had the opportunity to find out (its got a bit busy on the way to Peterborough). Either that or Foss Way/A5
  8. Sounds like a partial seizure to the bottom end, due to lack of oil to big end bearings. drain your oil into a container and run a magnet through it and look for metal particles.
  9. To add to the drama, and to try and keep us interested in the outcome. I stopped watching this type of show, especially any of the customs/border control ones because they keep switching from one thing to another, so you have to watch until the end to see the result. in the end its all cheap tv and they churn out the same old stuff over and over but just change the name or the presenter. Case in point, over here we have Chris Tarrant incredible railway journeys, Michael portillo, great railway journeys, and now Baldrick (Tony Robinson) great railway journeys, then there is Joanna Lumley in China, and now another female presenter ( cant remember Her name) doing China. None of us would watch if we knew they were not going to miss connections or worry about delays, it would be too boring
  10. What year is your 600? mine is a 2008 model with FI
  11. Believe it or not, but the beam pattern is the same shape as the standard bulb, (my bike has twin lights, two single filament bulbs), but is way brighter, and I have set it to marks I placed on my garage wall for setting lights to when I have stripped the front end from my bikes, and have never had an issue with them at MOT time
  12. What did you fit and how is the beam pattern? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HID-H7-Headlamp-Conversion-Honda-CBF1000-A-06-CBF600SA/170579454237?hash=item27b753e91d:g:vKIAAOSwjk9ZQl5F one of these, and beam pattern is brilliant. I can actually see the road for quite a distance in front without having to use high beam and dazzle oncoming traffic
  13. it was actually yesterday, but fitted a HID light to the CBF600. Wow, what a difference it makes. I should now be able to see the rural roads I commute on now.
  14. I use solder sleeves
  15. AH, is that a biscuit though?
  16. That's nothing. you should see mine after a week of commuting between Kettering and Narborough on mostly rural stuff. I ended up buying a worx hydroshot battery powered pressure washer. does the job in less than half the time it took by hand Pics or it didn't happen will try and remember to get some next Friday before I wash it

  18. quick, where's the biscuits?
  19. I had an extra set of waterproofs on over the top of my textiles, as they are easier to dry out, yet still got soaked Thursday morning. my commute involves some rural stuff through to Leicester, and the road was flooded in a couple of places. I am fine riding through deep water, but ended up coming off due to idiot cagers going too fast in the opposite direction and swamping the bike and me. bike and me ended up in deep mud and crap at the side of the road so I got wet from the rain and from landing in the water flooding the road. working in wet socks is not very pleasant, and drying them out in a microwave even worse
  20. surely no-one wants to have a massdebation session over Jo Swinton
  21. when I was 17 I had a Honda 125s and I had it modified with different profiled pistons, skimmed some off the cylinder head, inlet and outlet manifolds polished and gas-flowed and ultimately gained an extra 12hp. I took the bike onto a well known, (to me), road just to see what it was capable of, and ended up shutting down and riding home at a more sedate pace. the original top speed was a indicated 88-90mph but after the mods it reached that speed at about 1/2 throttle and by the time I passed maximum indicated speed on the speedo I was hitting a ton plus and then steering wobble hit me. the tyres were Avon road runners, but were they were only rated to 90mph, nobody made tyres in the size I needed to reach max speed. In the end I managed to crash the bike at a later date by coming off on black ice, and never found out the true potential of it
  22. is that your back- up transport, Bob , with a moggy basket on the front for fastbob?
  23. if your looking for a new bike it's a good place to try out the different models under one roof, and it's also good for bargains from end of season stuff. I go most years and replace my old gear
  24. I have recently moved into a new build flat, with off street parking and I have two bikes chained together on my parking space. There was only one, but I suddenly started having problems with it, like struggling to start, and as my sole means of getting to work near Leicester I need it to be reliable so I fetched my 500 from my lock-up in Northampton to use that in case of problems with 600. 500 was outside for two days and then I had starting issues with that, which is strange as neither bike has had these issues before. had to call out the RAC, which comes with my insurance, to get me and 500 home from work. they paid for taxi home and back to work next morning, with mechanic coming to look at bike at work. mechanic and me managed to get bike running again, and it has been fine since, though we had ended up stripping bike down to get airbox and carbs off and used a lot of easystart. Rode bike home that evening, and decided to give it a once over and a bit of a clean from the days shenanigans, only to find the tube from the scottoiler reservoir to the rear sprocket outlet was disconnected, yet this tube is a tight fit on the nozzle so did not come off by itself, which leads me to believe my bikes are now getting messed with. I have installed my CCTV system but the bikes are at the limit of the infra red range so it will not be easy to see anything
  25. HA HA, I've still got a tin of that stuff, and it is getting harder to buy due to some regulations, depending on who you ask, and it used to stink my kitchen out something rotten. It's no good on O ring chains though so I just stick to using my scotoiler
