Bike Breakdown

Yes, but it works, mostly. Absolutely......it's a very different outlook on life here than in Britain. People can be happy in their lives without much in the way of material possessions. There's not the jealousy and envy that you tend to find in Britain. If you've got something nice.....they're pleased for you. They're not thinking "How can he afford that"......or "Who did he rip off to get the money for that". Over here they would be thinking, when his back is turned i'm having that
3. I have brakes! in a temporary fashion, i had an idea last night and put it into practice this morning and it works, just need some new cables and refine the fixings with some suitably sized bolts and washers but otherwise we are good
4. Maybe it's time they did a current version, it has probably been their best seller next to the C50-90 range
5. Whether you sorn it or not, it is not worth letting the insurance lapse, too many things can happen and if you aren't covered could be expensive
6. The powers that be really messed things up when they classed certain types of bike as mopeds, in the historic sense a moped was originally one of these
7. Rear wheel done and back on, put the chain on but will order a new one as a couple of the links are very stiff, i did clean it and looks ok apart from these two links, will also need to try and source some brake cables and the little bolts you use to tighten the cable, the front one snapped whilst i was tightening it up, so no test riding till the brakes are sorted, no pics this time as i was covered in grime and the bike is locked up and just got myself cleaned up
8. I might try an experiment later with a premix of methylated spirits and 2T oil and see if Florence will run on it, if she will i will become a moonshiner Go the whole hog and try whisky or vodka ! Meths is a distinctive smell and I predict you would get laughed at or nicked lol. Cheers Ian Not a high enough proof, will need at least 120% proof and alcohol of atleast 95% pure, most denatured alcohol is above 99% pure

10. Nuclear power that's the way forward, miniature nuclear generators on the bike job sorted, and you wouldn't even need lights as you would probably glow in the dark
11. Electric scooters will take them out pretty quickly I guess we will soon find out Death Race 2020 anyone https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53219331

Hello all

I'll have to have a ride out that way sometime just for the shits and giggles
13. I think the main issue with electric bikes is that they are vitually silent and very little vibration, and many will have concerns being around the stupid public who are in their own little worlds and not paying attention
14. Hello and welcome
15. Thanks Bender i will give it light spray with the air filter oil i have then
16. Front wheel finished apart from some more cleaning on the inside of the rim and the spokes, all the rubber has been fitted, bearings greased and is now happily back on Florence, the back whel is off now and undergoing the same treatment Wheel before refitting. sorry for it being out of focus
17. Not the weekend but on Monday our club nights are starting up again and some rideouts have been planned for the following week
18. Why not ? a 125 is just as capable as any other bike
19. The new air filter came today, it is a metal gauze type and does anyone know if these need to be oiled like the foam type filters
20. Good job i have shortbread fingers to dunk in my coffee then
21. I have an interest in model railways and Hornby outsourced their production to China quite a while ago, and in the early years they did have QC issues, but now within the last 8/9 years the quality is phenominal and are producing some great highly detailed models, anyway nowt wrong with a good debate
22. I don't have an issue with people slagging down a particular brand, but tarring all with the same brush is not very sporting, it's like saying all german car drivers are w**kers because you had a smidsy with an Audi driver, my bike is chinese and have had no issues whatsover in the 17 months i have had it, yes i may have been lucky but many UM owners have had no issues either That's cos you're a sensitive soul who treats your Xena politely whereas most of us thrash the tits off our bikes. Maybe living in a throwaway society hasn't helped with regard to looking after things like bikes, " oh it's okay it was only cheap i'll buy a new one" it's this attitude that has been the downfall of good quality products, and again it is Joe public that is mainly to blame, they don't want to spend and then take care of things to make them last, then when it breaks they blame others for their carelessness, it's about time people stopped bitching and get their fingers out and learn how to fix and repair things, so you have a bike with a rusty frame, well repaint the thing, it has dodgy electrics, learn how to use a multimeter, the more i think about it the more i get dismayed at the lack of actual ability of a large proportion of the human race who can't do jack except whinge i'm off now to play with some wheels and tighten some spokes up ready for the new rubber for Florence

You can't.....because none exist! And they've had long enough to get their shit together! Consequently tarring them with the same brush isn't "not very sporting"........it's reality! It's based on fact! I never mentioned about comparing to japanese i don't dispute that, there are however varying degrees of quality and often in the same factory where these machines are built to a budget, if you really want to have a go at someone then blame it on the importers and distributors they are the ones that set the standard, these are the ones that set the budget and the factories build to that budget, increase the budget and you get better quality, and biggest to blame are joe public they want everything for nothing, so at the end of the day dig deep spend more and get the quality and reliability you are wanting it's that simple
