  1. Hi @julieann get your cbt done but try out a standard geared bike while you are there you may surprise yourself, good luck
  2. She will be limited to a 125 on a provisional as she has no full driving licence
  3. Going on a club ride out to the Bardney Bubble Car Museum
  4. New bracket is on now for the rear caliper, hardest bit was trying to lift the back wheel balanced on a piece of wood while jiggling it about to get the spindle back in, all set now for a club ride out on Saturday to the Bubble car museum at Bardney
  5. Think of it like a clock and the handle is the hand, so 6 o'clock is the main, 12 o'clock is the reserve and either 9 or 3 is off, this is usually right but sometimes 6 and 12 can be reversed depending on who made the tap Regarding the choke, same again usually down is off and up is choke on with halfway being half choke
  6. As above but before you set off do your checks, tyres for damage and pressure, oil and water if needed, and take some if you have any apparent leaks, clean and lube your chain, check all your lights and horn work, then just go for it and enjoy the ride
  7. A new caliper set has been ordered just have to wait for it to arrive now. To fit the caliper you have to virtually remove the wheel so you can get it on the locking stud on the swingarm, but when the lock pushed it, it moved it over 90 deg to the bottom of the wheel, so if the bracket was in the correct place the locking stud would have stopped it rotating, but anyway it as I only use the back brake as you do it has been fine and have done around 60 miles today, so I feel confident in the temp fix and the cable tie was used like a second pair of hands to hold the bracket in place while I put it all back together, I just left it on as it's not in the way of anything
  8. Just to save any confusion it is the rear caliper not the caliper itself just the part of the mounting bracket, the whole assembly though is attached through the spindle, there is a locking stud on the swingarm which stops it rotating with the wheel. This is the interesting bit though I vaguely remember the caliper didn't look right, and thinking back and to how the lock caused so much movement on the bracket, the whole assembly was never fitted correctly in the first place. Now that it is correctly fitted what happened couldn't have happened so for over 2 years I have been riding with an incorrectly fitted part, and the cable tie has no structural bearing on any part of the caliper.
  9. Welding hasn't worked with it being cast luckily I can get a complete replacement for £75 will have to wait till the weekend though to get one. So as a temp fix I have managed to secure it with a heavy duty cable tie whether or not it will hold is another matter, just have to try and avoid braking too hard
  10. See nob of the day thread.
  11. ME!!! Went to Wickes to see what they had in the way of plywood and cls timber bloody expensive now, anyway coming out put some stuff I bought into the panniers and then my thought process went on to my tea and thinking call in for a kebab on the way home, set off with a crunch and a grinding halt I forgot about the disc lock, that was totally destroyed as well as my brake caliper completely fooked, took it if to try and weld it where it had sheared off but no sooner started ran out of welding wire
  12. You won't know till you do it, and small bikes are easy to missed by other road users you need to make yourself noticed so wear bright colours, another thing you can do is keep changing your lane position don't stay on the same line, move around within your lane and I don't mean weaving around like a slalom but just occasionally every few hundred yards or so
  13. I think so! It's the Ferryboat Fisheries at Old Denaby https://www.facebook.com/events/225771142595052/?acontext={"source"%3A"29"%2C"ref_notif_type"%3A"event_aggregate"%2C"action_history"%3A"null"}&notif_id=1626067034430172&notif_t=event_aggregate&ref=notif Looks like you need to log in to FB to view the page.
