  1. @Trooper74 Hope you have a good one
  2. Doing some googling and apparently they can take a good few miles to bed in, so going to take her out for a run tomorrow and see how she is. Just recycling some more coolant so I can take it with me just in case
  3. Fitted it all back together refilled with coolant, still a drip but not as much as before, the ceramic washers are definitely not flat checked with a new stanley blade across it, there are some really tiny gaps, I did however turn the bike over ( removed plug lead ) a couple of times before filling with coolant just to see if that will help to bed in. There is nothing else I can think of so I guess i will just have to keep an eye on it and make sure I have some coolant with me when I am out to top it up if needed
  4. Just reseated the ceramic washer that fits on the impeller but looking at it, it looks slightly uneven do these need to bed in at all to be totally sealed, which would account for the slight drip rather than the continuous stream
  5. Just taken the impeller off again as it's still dripping, everything looks fine, the only other thing I can think of is coolant getting behind the seal on the impeller itself, so after dinner will take that off and apply a smear of silicone a reseat it
  6. Check your bank account as some provide breakdown cover also credit cards they too some times have certain benefits attached to them
  7. @Neil M Hope you feel better soon, need to get some fishin' in mate
  8. Just as I suspected the sealant had run down but it also caused the seal not to compress properly and was on a skew to the mating washer, anyway stripped and cleaned it all again, used silicone sealant this time and made sure the spring compressed evenly, will leave it for a couple of hours before refilling with coolant. Got plenty of coolant now as I have recycled it and filtered it with a paper coffee filter, too expensive to waste every time I drained the pump
  9. Simple enough to make one yourself
  10. Still got a slight leak of coolant, I have an idea of where from so not a major issue just need to strip it all down again. I used the rtv gasket maker stuff but as it is quite runny it tends to run down as the seal is on a vertical plain not horizontal, it also starts to cure very quickly so some of it could have hardened before I got it seated properly, I should have used the other silicone I have but thought no I would use the gasket maker, oh well live and learn
  11. I am hoping Xena is now fixed, the new part arrived this morning. I cut part of the housing off with a dremel to get better access to the seal, separated the bellows from the rest of the housing without any damage, cleaned everything up and applied some silicone gasket maker and put it all back together, left it to cure for about an hour while I had some dinner. Refitted the cover and filled with coolant and went for a ride, there seemed to be some fluid coming out but it was not running out like it did, I think it could be some residual coolant from before as it just seemed to bubble as if it was purging itself, will see how it is in a while and will take her out again later and see if all is well
  12. Depending on the weather tidying the front garden up a bit failing that probably binge on something
  13. Been like it all day and I had to go out too, good job for waterproofs
  14. Good morning heavy rain at the moment not sure if it will brighten up later
  15. I would guess as that is the main idea behind the mechanical seal, you have two mating surfaces one is static and the other has to rotate, so using ceramic reduces friction and is more suitable in extreme temperatures where a lubricant cannot be used effectively
  16. I was nearly there with fixing Xena, still waiting on parts to arrive but did another temporary fix and managed to go out for a run, did a few errands and gave her a good blast just for the heck of it and after an hour or so came back home, and just after I parked up she started dripping again, so another strip down and the last of my ceramic washers had cracked, so a cycle ride to get some more ceramic washers today and have another go
