Have you adjusted it at all? Chains stretch over time so become slack and need tightening up. Simple thing to check is if you find the centre point between the front and rear sprocket and move the chain up and down it should move about an inch (2.5cm) in total if you need to put a ruler behind it and measure the movement. If it's slack it usually means you'll notice a delay in power, clunky gear changes and it tends to be noisier. Look up a tutorial on YouTube on how to do it its a simple and essential piece of maintenance you'll need to learn. I would recommend getting someone that knows what they're doing to show you in person just so they can double check its all correct. If you don't know anyone try a local independent bike garage rather than a dealer as they're more likely to spare 5 minutes of their time to help a fellow rider out. Worst case scenario is you need a new chain a sprocket set which for a good quality one will set you back around £50, again it's easy enough to change yourself with some guidance.

Won't the bike belong to the insurance company now though? The reason I say that is because they've used the excess as an excuse not to pay out, so they've paid for the bike using the excess, if that makes any sense?

MCE always charge excessively, that's why they're the cheapest. My first year was £560 third party could've gone tpft £1050 excess not worth it, second year £280 third party because the excess is still the same! It is quite clear on the comparison sites what the excess is and if he rang up they're would've told him as well, and I'm sure the paper work/email would've stated it as well. Hard lesson to learn at such a young age but this is life sometimes, best bet is to try and find the bike, check the rough estates etc and circulate it on Facebook to biker groups in sure they'll be happy to try and help.

Basically right now you can do an A2 licence which means doing your theory test and mod 1&2 then you can ride a bike which must be restricted to 47bhp and be no more than double that (94bhp) out the factory so that dramatically reduces the choice of bikes you'll have. Plus to rub salt in the wound once you turn 24 you can upgrade to a full A licence BUT you have to do your mod 1&2 again on a bigger bike. So to sum it up, by doing your A2 you're restricted as to what bike you can ride and you have to retake your mod 1&2. If you wait until you're 24 you can do your direct access (DAS) and ride whatever you can afford to insure!

Is it as easy as it is to remove a bike battery? Just remove the clamps on the battery and take it out?

No it's not being used as she hasn't passed her test yet, failed her first attempt and has to wait until January the 16th for the next one!! I bought it for her as her 21st birthday present which fell a few days after her test, but it's been started every few days which has drained the battery

Yeah my bike isn't invovled in this one.. Just a charger and a car battery as stu said. I managed to fit it all in the engine bay and left it on charge for a few hours (4) but I couldn't close the lounge window and it got cold so I took it off charge going back on tomorrow if it doesn't rain again like today.

Well after looking I can't find the attachment for the cigarette lighter anyway.. Must've put it somewhere safe! That's a brilliant idea stu I'll see if I can fit it all in there.

I can do Bob but the car is outside and I'll have to run an extension cable out the window to it so I need to keep it dry which is why I wondered about doing it that way maybe the lead will be long enough to go from the battery into the car so I can put the extension lead in there to keep it away from this lovely weather!! My other halfs battery is flat and needs charging I was just wondering if I can charge it via the cigarette lighter. I know you can with a trickle charge not sure about a normal one. Any ideas?

What's the point of having a half cover? Just get a normal one and cover the entire bike, that'll stop the rain getting to all of it.

Battery is knackered, the bike is keeping itself going using the reg/rec but there's not enough power to keep it running at idle. Get the bike back to the dealer and tell them to sort it out or you want your money back.

Maybe if you hadn't have pulled that move and scared yourself you might've done it another time and not been so lucky. Anyway NOTD for me was the woman who stepped out in front of the car I was behind in Asda carpark coming from a blind corner which is uphill causing both me and the car to slam out brakes on and I imagine the rest of the traffic behind us as well... Knobblies + rain + hard braking don't mix too great.

No you can't it has to be that small for the back pressure, all 2 strokes have small exhausts it's part of how they work. Once you're riding it you won't care about it because you'll be faster than all you're mates

You'll be waiting for a long time they don't come up very often, how would I know? I watched NSR parts on eBay for a good few years whilst I owned one. As Alex said do it yourself don't waste a stupid amount of money for something that will take you 20 minutes maximum it's litterally a few nuts at the header and you need to take the exhaust hanger off that's it, then you just do the opposite to fit the new one.

Sounds like fuel starvation to me, check the petrol cap breather isn't blocked. A simple way to check this is to ride the bike until it cuts out then open the fuel cap and listen for a sharp hissing noise, if it's not that then it's probably the carbs.
