  1. They get really good reviews online Stu, I can spend more if it means better quality. I currently have 225/45/r17 wasn't sure if the width would make much difference hence asking on here. Can you send me a link to those please stu I'm lazy If push comes to shove I can just get the tyres to fit my current rims I was thinking it would be easier having 2 sets of wheels.
  2. Another boring car question, I'm looking for a set of steel wheels with winter tyres. This is for obvious reasons as I do a lot of mileage and my car is the difference between making money and not, also I'm working up in Scotland this month and January so I'd rather be prepared for the worst. Anyway I found a set of wheels with tyres on eBay but I'm not 100% sure if they fit so I'd like some advice if possible, I'll add a link to the eBay ad and the fitment specs for my car. My car fitment :- http://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Opel/Ast ... 20-%202009).html eBay ad:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/121810157795 Thanks!
  3. Try and sell it as preparing the garden for Christmas when everyone comes round, no one wants a messy garden when the family is there! You could also offer things like fencing and shed repairs.
  4. Baffles are usually only fixed at one end so if you drill out the welds you should be able to remove them. If you google baffles you'll see what I mean.
  5. In all the years I've been on this forum this is the second time we've lost a member and it doesn't get any easier, you'll be missed by us all. Enjoy the endless twisty roads in the clouds and keep an eye out for the rest of us. Ride in paradise.
  6. I thought that's what people would do, it's no different to applying the handbrake in my eyes but as I said I don't drive an auto.
  7. That's anyone with an auto gearbox. Get used to it because more and more cars are being sold with auto boxes. Or just put it in park? Don't drive an auto but that's what I'd do.
  8. I have to agree I find it tends to be newer cars coming towards you that are blinding to a point you can barely see anything. I had a Mercedes behind me on the dual carriage way the other night that was blinding me from behind in all three mirrors so I put my foot down and lost them eventually but I couldn't see f**k all behind me!
  9. I've spent most of this year in premier inn hotels for work and can't fault them, okay some have been refurbished but the ones that haven't are still good quality. Travelodge can be hit and miss, new ones are good but old ones can be shocking and they only have 13 channels on the tv even in this day and age! I didn't know wetherspoons did hotels either so it's good to know for the future.
  10. my nomination goes to the driver of a Range Rover. Sat at lights which you can go left or right, we were both turning right and the lights went green so I started to move off but stopped because I could hear sirens at this point he held his hand on his horn and started revving his v8 engine like a bellend. Lucky I did stop because a doctors car came flying past on the wrong side of the road (mine). Nob
  11. I don't know what it looks like but can't you drill it? Start small 3mm and work your way up until it comes lose.
  12. I just park at the back where I can actually open my doors wider than Victoria Beckhams stomach. Annoyingly someone always parks next to you though, guaranteed!
  13. Well it was the battery as suspected it decided not to start after work so I called the rac and they replaced it for free, turns out it was the original battery so going on for 10 years old so it didn't do too bad!
  14. No not time and date stu but it all switches off and then all lights come on which I assume is the ecu doing its checks? I'll get a multimeter on the battery and start it, any way of testing the starter motor?
  15. I know shock horror I've mentioned a car on a motorbike forum Anyhow I've noticed an intermittent problem with my car (2005 Ford Fiesta 1.25) when I start it sometimes the starter motor turns then stops and starts again which will start the engine but every time this happens the dash goes off and resets. Is this battery related or starter motor? Before anyone asks I haven't checked the battery I'll get one of my electricians to do that tomorrow. Thanks!

    Vulcan bomber

I was just leaving a factory I'm working at in Preston when I heard a really loud noise and it flew right over my car
  17. I have you on Facebook and thought I recognised that face then I remembered this thread!! Weird haha
  18. To be honest I'd try and get it done for free considering it's such a common problem, why should you have to pay for their problem. Alternatively you could get one online and fit it yourself.
  19. B&Q 2 weeks full pay when I was there.
  20. I'm pretty sure they're known to have a fuel pump/injector problem don't quote me on that though it's just what I recall seeing on here.

    Lack of power

You need to change down a gear or two so you have more torque to pull you up the hill. Just imagine you're on a push bike you wouldn't want to go up a hill in the highest gear cause it would be difficult so you go down a few.
  22. A new chain will stretch from the stress put on it, to begin with it will stretch more than usual so you need to keep an eye on it. It's a simple job to do, YouTube is your best bet all bikes are pretty much the same so you don't need to look for a specific one to your bike. Just make sure once you've adjusted it that you sit on the bike and check it again (or get someone to help) as you'll add extra tension onto the chain with your weight. You should be checking your chain before every ride, I used to just lift it with my boot as I knew roughy how much it should move from experience, again a visual inspection for lube should be done as well if it looks dry get some spray on it and keep it topped up. Good luck

    Dead battery???

It should be okay as long as you don't have anything to drain the battery like an aftermarket alarm. However if the battery is dead put the bike in second gear and get your mate to push you down the road, make sure the key is in and ignition is switched to on then when you have some speed release the clutch and it should start the engine Then just go for a long ride 30miles should do it.
