1. I've bottled out :(

    Fortunatly the guy seems understanding.

I wasn't totally happy buying unseen and I suspect it will need a fair bit spending on it. Spent half an hour worrying and bottled.

I won't say there is anything wrong with that, end of the day, I think you did the right call. I'm sure everyone here will agree that before you buy your bike, it is best to at least see, hear and sit on it in person. :thumb:

  2. I would suggest the safest bet would be for you to go and inspect the bike before you purchase it. When I brought mine from a private seller, I went with my brother who inspected/tested the bike and then checked all the documents before I parted with my cash.

Personally I won't want to have the bike delivered without first seeing it yourself. In an ideal world, bringing your mechanic along to thoroughly test the bike before purchase would give you the best odds that the bike is good to go but then unless you know your mechanic well or they're your mate, it's going to be rare for that!

  3. Yer I knew I probably could have got better had I have shopped a bit more, it does cover me for commuting as well which is a bonus, who do you insure with?

    Bennetts

Mmmm maybe its my occupation or the fact I use it for commuting, I've heard that working shifts pushes the premiums up?

Yup. I believe that to be true as Insurance companies calculate the risk based on the overall mileage you would advise them you plan to do per year, as the more miles you do the higher the chance of you being in a crash.

  4. Bought this last week. Waiting on the intake fairings being fitted. I'm itching to get out on her!

This is my first big bike after passing my test end of may. Been riding a Yamaha YBR for the last two years so I'm very confident riding, but this is a whole other beastie! 😁

Nice bike! Love the colour! 8-)

  5. I'm living proof you can survive a head on crash, all be it I broke both my arms and was close to death I'm still here to tell the tale, in mine I was travelling down a narrow rural road as I did on a daily basis to work but my problem was I was 17 with zero hazard perception and thought I was Marc Marquez on my little Honda cg125 and I used to ride the road flat out which was around 65-70 mph there is a nice long straight after which is followed by a blind right hand bend but knowing the road and the bike I would roll off slightly to around 60 and turn in to the right bend and I knew if my front tyre was on a black patch that was just on my side of the centre of the road I would make the corner no problem so I put the front tyre there this day and there ended up being a car coming the opposite direction at the same time and the rest is history as they say, I have also been told it was the speed that saved me if I'd been 5mph slower my head would have entered the windscreen

I'm pretty sure we could read that and the result could have been very different. I'm glad you're alive now but IMO that was a silly move to go that fast into a corner on a open road.

Oh, how are your arms now?

Yea it was a silly move but I was 17 and stupid, my arms are ok, I cant straighten my left elbow fully and my left hand now looks like that of wolverine's and I broke my right wrist and compressed my left knee cap but I can still play rugby and ride bikes so I'm happy

What a legend, can't believe you still play rugby after all that. #Respect!

  6. 30 mph + 30 mph in opposite directions is not 60 mph

    Search Mythbusters

You know what, you hit an oncoming vehicle in that scenario and the maths is the least of your problems. You're still dead.

  7. Well??

what did you think to it? :)

@BabyD said it was this week but never said what day. Unless you know it was today!?? 8-)

He has posted pics on the challenge thread

Ah! I stand corrected. And I was a chump thinking he was going to post the photos here. :thumb:

  8. Hate to shave, and I don’t if I don’t have to. After every shave my skin get painful and I get lot of cuts.

When on board have to shave, company policy so I use electric shaver, much better than razors.

If I have to shave with the razor, I will go just one direction up- down, no way contrary. :thumb:

You never actually answered the question??

I was shown by brother who is a few years old than me.

  9. Hey, I'm looking to buy my first bike, I'm set on what i want and I've got a used bike in my sight but the seller doesn't have full service history. I need help deciding if i can trust this or not. Here's the description

    "Hyosung gt125r

    10month mot

    New chain and sprockets

    New lock set all round

    New clip ons

    New rear brake

    Recent full service

    Ready to ride away

Any questions feel free to inbox"

The bike looks great but i live far away and will need to be taken to pick up and see the bike so its important i know i want to purchase it as i see it.

I asked the history of the bike and here's what he said

"13k miles faultless starts rides slight oil leak on rocker cover have new gasket had new everything service wise chain sprockets the lot"

Does this mean the leak is still there or its been repaired?

When i asked if it had full service history, he replied:

"Dont have a full service history with it but its had a full service less than a month ago before all work has been done to it you'll be picking up fron a bike garage anyway where I work so there no doubt it's a solid bike hence why it's not 500quid lol"

Its a lot of info but I'm on a tight budget, help is greatly appreciated

You mentioned above that the seller doesn't have the full service history, if it was me, I would let this one go as you have no idea what problems this bike has had. What's the asking price? Do you know the bik reg? If so, have you at least checked the MOT history?

  10. No need , just make a mental note of everything that happens and then sit and remember it afterwards when you're bored at work .

Bob, you forgot the all important Dictaphone to use to record his thoughts as he recall everything that just happened, it's evidence in court 8-)

Or its a fun tool to watch your trips back when you go to nice places or even a educational tool to watch your ridea back on and see how you can become better and safer 🤫

All jokes aside, I do agree with you on that, I use mine that way. I originally had mine on the right of my helmet so that the view captures most of the traffic on the road, (since we drive on the left). But after a while and as highlighted by TimR, you will realise that the extra weight (even though small) that is on your helmet will cause some neck pain after long duration. Best thing to do is mount it on your bike, if you are only using it for educational tool, it will be better there! :thumb:

  11. The theory test is easy, it was the Hazard perception that I struggled with. I still passed it, but when I did the online tests I was getting over 90%, but on the day at the test centre got a lot less. The real test is a lot different to the online practice tests.

I found that the ones they have now in the Theory Test is a lot more "computised" so the hazards are slightly easier to spot that the "live action" ones that they used to do in the past. I didn't purchase any study material this time round as I just used the ones the DVSA had on their website so went in hoping for the best! (I passed! :))

  12. I filter if I am filtering so fast I cannot wave or nod or wave boot to say thanks I am filtering to fast!

Is filtering not meant to be done at slow speeds? Like, 10-15mph?? Anything over that is aggressive overtaking is it not? All it takes is one person accidentally opening up a car door as you are passing through?? :?

  13. Just been out on the bike and that gear thing happened 3 times! If I've found a false neutral, how do I stop finding it? It's hard enough learning my gears!

    Cheers

I've certainly not heard about this? What year is your CB125F? Have you got any local repairers nearby that's had a look at it, even just to take it in and ask them to see if they can see anything.

  14. Their customer service is great when it comes to sending the shit back that they send to you. But why send me shit in the first place? Where is the quality control? I will not use them ever again, I do not have a printer at my home so I need to go to the damn library then ride 18 miles to the nearest post office to send the shite back that they sent me its not on - and its very frustrating especially when free time is limited in my life.

Dude, they send you the labels to send stuff back, they don't even charge us for any of that, I've had to send a jacket back once when I'd ordered it on the wrong size but when my replacement came, it had a button that was loose, however SBS did not question when I had to send it back again for a replacement. I would not hesitate to use them again for anything as I have had loads of stuff from them and they have been amazing, it's the first place I go to check reviews before I search elsewhere.

Drop off point for labels is further than the nearest post office, much further, and I never said they charge?

I meant it more on that fact that most of the time folk complain when they have to physically spend money to send things back, my understanding is that SBS uses the courier service UPS to collect return items. There is literally loads of UPS Collection points throughout that you can go to. Where do you stay that you need to go 18miles out??

  15.

Too right , this thread should have been " Biscuited " ages ago . Which reminds me that I got ripped off to the tune of £4.60 for a small coffee and a miniscule sliver of shortbread at the Green Welly tourist trap in Tyndrum Scotland last week .

The best thing I had from the green welly cafe was a home made pie, it camecomplete with something very chewy, a full fingernail, I complained and said who was missing a fingernail ora finger, they said they didn't know as although it said home made on the menu they weren't actually made on site :o

There are a lot of gangsters in Glasgow , well there's probably one less now . A case for Taggart I think even though he's dead as well .

Wait, how did the chat end off dissing my turf? What did we gangsters I am weegie do to you!?

Just for the record, I'm no gangster.

  17. Yup, the Drift Ghost X does come with the mic adaptor but like you said, you will need to buy the mic cable separate. I've brought one but never used it as I have the X in the waterproof case at all time in case of (heavy) rain and accidentally dropping it when taking it off mount/helmet. (which as only happens a couple of times!)

Thanks, just got mine today and it wont turn on? Do I have to leave it charging for hours before turning it on or what? :(

When I got mine, it was half charged so was able to start using it from the get go, I believe I used it till it went flat and then charged it to full (uninterrupted) and then used it till it went flat again to get it fully discharged. Kind of like what you do with laptop batteries (that's how I treated it anyway)

  18. Though you don't really need the clutch to change up gears apart from 1st to 2nd but always use it to change down the box

Rich, you talking about that technique where you rest your foot under the gear shifter and as you slowly roll off the throttle you flick the gear shifter up to go up a gear? I've never managed to get it to work, must be my technique!

  19. When I first start the bike it idles fine then after it gets warm or I’m stopping at light it cuts out. It won’t then idle just cuts out it revs fine and ok when changing gear up or down. I’ve charged and swapped the battery no difference

Hi Pat, welcome to the forum, could you give us more information? Such as when it cuts out, is there still power going to it even though the engine is off? When you mean warm, do you mean the radiator gauge is getting higher?
