1. A few of my colleagues have places in Spain, partly because of tax reasons but mainly because they are addicted to warm weather! It would be a bloody boring old world if we were all the same!

I'll put my hand up to the warm weather addiction. :D I've spent a fair bit of time in Hong Kong, and just love the heat there...and the people...and the food..and the chilled Tsingtao beer 8-)

Did you still get to ride about on your bike? The traffic over there is pretty insane is it not?

  2. My backpack finally turned up today. I went with the Kreiga R35. I haven’t used it yet and won’t be for at least two weeks but the build quality seems amazing!! It’s a lot of money for a backpack but if it works, I think it’s an investment well made. I’ll keep you updated with it’s had some use for anyone that’s interested. Cheers to the guys that recommended it :thumb:

It really is worth the investment. :)

  3. The fact there is no license plates, and the lack of protective clothing on those two; there is a high chance those two have stolen that bike. What idiots, it's only time before they get themselves killed or seriously injured.

  4. I'd definitely say a kangoo is too small so I'd go for a tranny as the price difference isn't great on rental and as said 3 ratchet straps minimum 6 would be better and if you have access to one a front wheel chock

I agree with Rich on this one, I have a CBR125R and my brother has a Kangoo and the bike did not fit even with the mirrors removed.

  5. Insurance is a lottery for sure. My CBR costs me 230 quid to insure fully comp with one years NCB and I only passed my test last month. That's kept in a garage with an Oxford HD Chain.

Sure they just make prices up.

    Dave

Insurance costs does hugely depend on the area you live in, if the area you live in has more accidents then the premiums would reflect that, even with you being the safest rider in the UK, it's the idiots around you that is driving the costs up.

  6. Sidewinder with a "pillion" 🤔 Bike Magazine test fitted to a Gsxr1100!!!IMG_20190808_091248655.jpg.

Just wondered what happened on left handers 😕.

 I would like it if they had a video of that combination doing a figure 8. Why was YouTube not available then!

Looking at the 2nd photo, it does look like the pillion is holding onto the left foot peg to stop himself from falling off..

  7. Slightly off topic, I bought the Flymo 1200r. It’s bloody fantastic. Set it to go out cutting 3 times a week from 12am to 6am.

12am-6am, I take it it's a very quiet mower then? Would imagine waking up your neighbours if they live right next to you. However having looked up the video on YouTube, the mower looks great, I was going to ask how it was going to detect the edge/obstacles but the video explained it. :)

  8. BTW @fastbob, how did you get a photo of this? Did you follow this driver all the way back to their home?

No , I just took a good look at it and then Googled it later on this evening .

Ah! The joys of the internet :thumb:

  9. My m8 had one these on his bike and its didnt even touch the floor/road as he had a bungee cord holding it off the road as its says it's to be fitted but nothing to say it had to touch the road .. .. dont know if it's still the same ... .

I can't see why he would have done that . The Sidewinder allowed the bike to lean in either direction . Having it up in the air would have seriously affected the handling . Here's the other half of the advert .

I take it a pillion can't sit on the sidewinder

  10. I've got 6, with 5 of them on the road.

Fortunately 2 of them, 380 and Honda SS50 are tax and mot exempt and only the price of insurance which isn't a bad thing to have theft cover.

They all do get a run every few months so hopefully no carb gumming can develop.

Flat batteries are the main headache, but a quick charge up normally sorts it out.

Most frequently used is the scooter followed by the R1

I can't believe you have 5 bikes on the road. #Respect

  11. Anyway this is a thread revival from 2015 so the Lexmoto has probably biodegraded back into the earth by now . A bit like horse shit .

 that made me laugh, I'm pretty sure OP would have changed to a bigger bike by now too. Hope everything goes fine for biglesbo though!

  12. That’s a fair point smee - nothing to object to if one does signal.

Spot on about the nerves. I had a 15 minute ride and manoeuvre practice before my Mod 1, and made a pig’s ear of all the low speed stuff. 20 mins later I passed it with no faults - go figure!

    Well done Joe.

Yeah, I agree with Smee, signalling before you pull out is better than not signalling as leave as it warns others of your intentions. The examiner would not mark you down for that.

  13. Hi Joe,

As you have already pointed out on your post, the oncoming vehicle has the right of way so the best approach would be to pull in when it is safe to do so and wait for the vehicle to pass before you move back out. I believe the examiner would take that into consideration during your test as no doubt they would be in a bike too, it's all about being safe as long as you demonstrate that, you would get marked down for hesitation.

Also I would like to add whenever I'm out, a lot of the oncoming vehicles will see you a distance away and make their adjustments accordingly to either give you more room pass or drive past you slowly.
