IMHO fridging chocolate is like fridging red wine. The cold kills off the subtle flavours and renders it just a hard lump of sweetness or if dark chocolate just a vaguely chocolate flavoured lump. Not a fan!

If it is soft I can only taste the sweetness

  2. I have all the ‘listening’ functions on my phone off usually. Recently I have had Siri on on my phone but may turn off again. It all feels like 1984 to me only it’s not the state but private enterprise listening in to our every move and everyone is paying for the privilege.

  3. It is cooked, mushed and then dehydrated fruit. Kids like things called Bear YoYos to eat, if you have come across those they are fruit leather. It is a preserving technique. A bit like fruit jerky.

I quietly lean towards the British equivalent of the American phenomena of ‘preppers’. (Not anywhere near as full on bonkers as them). As such I have spent the past couple of years getting an allotment and learning to grow food (still crap at it) and am

moving into how to preserve it for other  use. Going to try jarring some soup later I think.

I like the idea of have some self sufficiency and if the shops run out my family will be fine.

  4. I remember when I was commuting to rugby from Brum the M42 and the a46 being nose to nose the whole way. I saved an hour and a half on a colleague :-) just filtered.

I do not filter on traffic over 30 miles an hour. Not as a rule but I notice it stops feeling safe around then.

  5. At one time we did not have totally joint finances and paid into an account to cover shared costs. The one of us earning the more money paid more in and the one paid the less paid less in. That worked too.

3632 nautical miles at about 3 knots so about 50.4 days however the gulf stream will be against you. So you might be better to walk to Spain and swim to the Caribbean as the weather and currents are with you and it would be warmer...

There is no way people average 3 knots in the water.
