Long-shot: does anyone have a copy of the Minter report?
Ian Frog replied to a topic in Motorbike Chat
Good luck. In my experience journos are quite helpful and love showing us how well informed they are. Also worth bearing in mind the larger owners groups like VJMC and other organisations. Dare I say MAG lol. Cheers Ian -

Have you tried asking the guys at Bike magazine? I have found them helpful in the past and I am sure they would have been on the distribution list. Cheers Ian -

His workshop is just down the road from me and he is lucky to work in such a great place. Well worth a visit if you are out this way. The nature reserve opposite have a good cafe too. Cheers Ian -
I have found in the past a 50.50 mix of Coca Cola and diesel is good at breaking down the resin caused by old fuel in carbs. Please bear in mind the soaking period is not short I did some pretty gummed up GT750 Kawasaki carbs and they soaked for a week but I managed to get them working and this was before I had access to a sonic bath. Cheers Ian

We call him Ragerover on the Uk Busas forum and that little Triumph is for sale. He certainly knows what he is doing as well. I think the turbo bike is something to do with the UK Wheelie records and might belong to a guy called Dodge. Cheers Ian

As long as it is ok for the paramedics and hospital staff to choose whether or not they choose to treat you ! As someone who has covered a lot of miles without a lid I will happily confess I wouldn`t entertain it now even in country`s or climates that might not favour there use. I have read the medical reports from the states that highlight additional injuries caused by the weight of a helmet and rotation/friction impacts on neck muscles and bones but given that evidence I am sorry but much as I hate compulsion I am wearing one. I will support your right to protest but I think you are wrong. Cheers Ian

I was struggling to think of anything MCN has done well ! Thank you for that. Cheers Ian

Having been a semi active member back in the early 80`s as I was chatting with @fastbob on another thread about, I have to say at most local levels that I saw they became very political and seemed to enjoy spending evenings arguing with each other and general willy waving (mind you we were a right bunch of scruffy greebos back in the day lol). All that said the list of achievements and their lobbying power are quite impressive so good luck to them. I believe Lembit Opik of Cheeky Girls fame is part of their lobbying committee. Cheers Ian

Hi @Stu you can buy felt for wrapping pipes. I am sure there will be someone on here working on a site that can get you some. I would volunteer but not currently working Cheers Ian

I remember that occasion in Trafalgar Sq and have a suspicion it was Fred`s last one. I asked because something about your bike is familiar. Good old days lol. Pic below about the same time and that was the particular pub I had in mind, my Ducati 2nd from right with my mates V50. Cheers Ian

What year was that taken? Did you ever visit any of the biker pubs in London back in the day (Think circa Fred Hill MAG protest days). Cheers Ian

You seem very well informed on all this M.A.M.I.L stuff. Don`t worry about the orange juice I am sure he can pick up some beside any major trunk route as lorry drivers seem to leave bottles out for each other all the time in case of breakdowns (how public spirited). Cheers Ian

Don`t be daft that would almost be the same as saying I agree with the owner who decided to sell knowing there was still work to do ! After all Bob has already said he has other reasons to go along with this I am pretty certain he wont want to be associated with it when it goes "home". I think keeping ones head down is the safer policy on this. Cheers Ian

Fook me is that a "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang horn on that M.A.M.I.L machine ? Steam punk meets modern trendy ? Cheers Ian

Hee Hee and the knowledge to use a percussive implement and not just "Twat it in !" Lol You may get to see this little puppy again if a sympathetic owner appears to rescue it. Cheers Ian
-
Oh how very true! I occasionally get called on to look after a friends Bonneville and the quality of the fastenings and the general metal/ machining is quite refreshing. Mind you when you find some previous twat has bodged something it is quite often harder to repair I find. Good luck with it as it looks sweet. Cheers Ian

Very nice indeed!!!! I would like slightly lower bars and if carrying a passenger have a good look at the exhaust/ footrest interface. But overall what a lovely little thing. Shame he wont let you loose with less budget restraint. Any chance he might reconsider once he sees these pics? Cheers Ian

Bike cover, armadillo or other?
Ian Frog replied to James in Brum's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I have used a similar design of fishing shelter for over 20 years now and once well pegged down this is a great and stable shelter. I have been out in some horrendous storms up to Gale force 8 and been fine. If the materials in this shelter are as good as my Aqua bivvy you should be fine. Obviously seek a sheltered spot if poss and anchor well. Good luck with your forth coming garage build lol there is no real substitute. Cheers Ian -
If you are interested I know good bike hire firm in Lanzarotte nice guy I tried the Enfield interceptor and a Honda trial thing lol. I want to go back some time this year. Cheers Ian

Those who ride in London, In or out of the city. What's it like daily?
Ian Frog replied to YamahaR6's topic in Motorbike Chat
Make sure that you are totally comfortable with the mating frog type position as you will find that at slow speeds a lot of weight is going to be transferred on to your wrists. Sports type bikes in London are quite often seen with flat bar type conversions good ones of which are not cheap. It might be worth considering something a little bit more upright such as a Fazer for example similar engine and characteristics and you wont notice any performance difference if you are riding in London. I used to commute a lot and have been a despatch rider for a few years back in the day and I guarantee you tht sports type bikes are not much fun in town. Cheers Ian
