  1. If you want a good finish sand the exhaust down to the bare metal with a power drill then heat it up to 30 degrees c and apply the paint wait a few hours and put it back on the bike and let it run to warm up. The paint will flake off due to poor preperation
  2. Sounds to me like the piston rings have failed if its burning oil Anyhow its an engine out jobby and if its done at the garage it will easilly cost more than the bikes worth. my advice would be sell it as spares or repairs or try and pickup a salaved engine.

    cbr 125 cut out

check near the side stand there should be a small button that activates when the stands down, make sure its not sticking.
  4. guessing the clutch is a wet sump, when did u last change the oil.
  5. Could be a number of reasons, mainly due to heat/wear. Surely you can pick up a decent second hand one off ebay?
  6. Mole Grips = why run the risk of rounding off nuts thus spending more money on drilling them out! Setting your chain tention is one of the most easiest jobs to do... i always keep 1 inch of play with mine.
  7. This was my first 'big bike' from a Yamaha YBR Good points? One massive good point for me (this being my first bike aged 21) is for the power you get (93BHP) the insurance is considerabley cheap for a 750. The de-tuned GSXR engine is boring from 1,000 to 6,000 (I used this for fuel saving when commuting) however once you wind it up after 6,000 RPM the super smooth paralel 4 comes into its own, first gear your hitting 60mph second your in the 80s. The bike is very comfortable for long journeys depsite being mae to a budget at 6'1ft i was leaning forward slightly. The gear box is silky smooth apart from first gear to second where most bikes slam into anyway. Desite its weight with decent tyres on the GSXF is fairly decent into corners but its no sports 600. Commuting to and from work i generally averaged 45-50 MPG which is very good for a 750 stick a aftermarket exhaust on and it sounds beautiful. You can pick low milage examples of this bike for £900-£1500 Bad points? Weight - at 200+KG dry weight this is one heavy beast so it demands respect when cornering. Looks - Known as the 'Teapot' love it or hate it, its all down to your taste. Brakes and Suspension - Build to a budget, suspension can be harsh and takes lots of tinkering to find the correct setup. Brakes need stripping down every year. Low down Torque - Pillioned a few times and it seriously lacks low down torque find i had to really wind it up to pass cars. Often i found this bike to handle awful in the rain due to its weight and i often felt the back end twitching. http://i53.tinypic.com/97la37.jpg http://i55.tinypic.com/23k6osm.jpg Would you get another? Definitely yes. For the price you pay for this bike theres nothing to complain about.
  8. its probably slightly different to what you were used to, just loosen the 4 bolts on the yoke and move them about to what you were used to if its bothering you
  9. I did CBT messed around for a year on a 125 then i completed the DAS. MOD 1 i'd say the riding experience wasnt really needed but for MOD 2 it did wonders for me, hence why i passed with 0 minors
  10. My training was an abosolute nightmare, the training providers communication gear wasnt up to scratch i could hardly hear him and was making wrong turns all over the place and making silly mistake, my confidence was knocked to bare minimum to say the least. Test day, was very nervous and couldnt sleep, when i arrived at the test centre the bike i had learnt on and completed my Mod 1 was taken by someone else (Bike was a bandit 600) so i was given a GPZ 500 which was quite small for me being 6'2. Got called up by the DSA assesor very nice guy, on the test route everything went perfect, i could hear the assessor perfectly, also on the second roundabout a car pulled out on me, i corrected and avoided the car with headchecks 'Well Handled Jake' he pulled me over a few times for hillstarts/starts behind parked cars, remembered all my headchecks! i lost the assessor 3 times also at traffic lights, pulled in at a suitable place then pulled out infront of him when he caught up. Anyway got back to the test centre he said, Jake i'm very sorry (my heart sunk at this point) i'm going to have to hand you a clean sheet well done! So i passed with 0 minors and was well chuffed. I now own a GSX750F (a week after passing )
  11. The prices quoted are cheap, the instructer cant do anything about your cash intake. Learning yourself on a 125 will be difficult and you mean spend more cash on retests. I thought i was a decent driver (clocked my 125 to 15k miles) how wrong was i when i started training! picked up loads of bad habits. But Yeah... will cost you 400-700 quid to pass your test.
  12. Of course a right head checks an instant fail whether you were moving 3 feet or what. What you say you checked your mirrors but what if a bike was sitting in your blind spot 3ft to the right.
  13. Thanks dan which is the... easiest one? lol Thats incorrect information Dan. You need a Motorcycle theory, a car theory doesnt qualify. Mod 1 has been made easier basically see info on DSA site. Commenting on october - You do your Mod 1 and Mod2 in 1 day, mod1 on morning mod2 on afternoon, you pay the same test fees but if you fail mod1 you dont go out for mod2 so basically thats £100+ down the drain. so get it booked before october!
  14. Over the moon, assesor said i was riding great and he was impressed as during the test i had to avoid a car that pulled out on me time for a big bike and sell the trusty ybr
  15. when i break hard my 59 YBR forks click, always has done.
  16. I can't seem to find anywhere what PLUG CAP my 59 yamaha ybr takes. I've looked everywhere and found nothing. i've taken the old Plug Cap and the only thing it has on it is 4FP thanks
  17. managed to get it started! i think i need a new HT lead, sprayed some Wd40 on it and its fired up
  18. i did take care and the air filter was bought from Yamaha and it's fuel injected
  19. Recently changed the air filter, started first time then i went to give it some revs and i stalled and wouldn't start back up again. after many attempts the engine started again and any revs i gave it it stalled. Battery has now ran out and i'm wondering what to do...
  20. Its not as easy as 'replace both' there £250 each. The bikes only a young bike and it's been well looked after. i'll give it a go at changing the oil. and Tbh the mark around the fork is more of a muck mark not oil
  21. Yes there is an oil ring on the forks
  22. Ride seems to be very rough, bikes 09 plate and i've done 11,000 miles on it. Apart from buying new forks is there anything else i can do? i think i may need new ones
  23. Trust me these noises on a YBR are normal i've done around 8000 miles on mine and sometimes it makes all kinds of noises with the gear box. It's been serviced regulary by a Yamaha dealer and it's never had any problems. imo the clicking noise is nothing to worry about.
  24. Rear sprocket, I presume theres nothing wrong with the front as the chain is spinning.
  25. Use the oil you've always used IMO. Like for Like. Guess your using fully sync?
