  1. this clutch is driving me mad, pardon the pun.. Swapped bad plates and put couple new friction plates in, cleaned up the basket a little but it was smooth anyway.. Can see clutch plates moving when I pull lever in, but still no good.. I also put it on center stand, in gear and pull clutch in, its stiff to move the wheel at first then will move a bit.. what on earth is the deal.. And ball bearing is at the other side before smaller push rod end..

    New battery

thats a good tip, having had one in and out about 4 times this week.
  3. This was an interesting read, Ive heard stories about the smart motorways getting people multiple times in a journey etc. Had a few tickets over the years and on big bypass roads that you assume are faster but are 40. I actually missed the sign saying 40 as a horse was in the road futher up as I joined near sheffield. Still got the points though. Those saying Banned! I guess never ever went over the speed limit,, in a bikers forum! if not well done you.. I think James was upfront and accepted he was wrong without comments about what he deserved.. Glad the outcome was decent mate
  4. As a first big bike and not knowing your age etc, I can say that the cheapest insurance is Bandit 600 and 650, zzr600 with which you also get more power, fazer 600 are also cheap insurance and nippy. I ran loads of quotes when I first went looking, and CBR600F was 3 times that of the bandit and zzr600. These bikes will all be cheaper for the same year than a R6 etc. But if money isnt really any issue forget my advice lol Just be careful with a powerful bike after riding about on a 125, more so applying power coming out of bends etc.
  5. Oddly enough a video popped up on YouTube earlier and it was a fazer1000 and he was on mulholland road or drive, really leaning over and his back end went, but he saved it as he rides off road too. In the comments he mentions how he did add a little too much gas for the lean, also as it was coming up hill a little the road went off camber. Camber is something newbies don't always think to look for, but can catch you out.. In your case It sounds like a little too much oomph for the lean but as said busy roundabout usually have spots of slippy shit dotted about randomly. I thought my back end slipped once on a fairly new roundabout, not going to fast and road was clean. had me throw my foot down anyway and to this day Ive no idea what happened. But id put money on it being something I did.
  6. it seems to have a ball at the end only. https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/4181556/fzs600-fazer-5rt4-2003-070-a/clutch
  7. we come here to use our brains and talk bikes lol. Yeah this has gone deep but what else we gunna do haha
  8. anyway, she sounds better today.. nipped up exhaust and made sure oil was right etc.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jwy9c4o5cs2glxs/VID-20210330-WA0007.mp4?dl=0
  9. I can imagine, im not too bad to be honest but she struggles.
  10. Not ebc ones I dont think no. it does say heavy duty but 35.5mm where as the ones in are at 38mm max. but they compress easy.
  11. Yeah I guess so, from what Ive seen some have had issue with strong springs. Thing is this did work fine, and probably would, but now Ive seen plates etc I've got to change them
  12. my Mrs doesn't give it death, shes a very steady rider.. Id probably push it though
  13. apparently yes, and surely it will create the sticking issue more often,, seems daft
  14. agree. put it all back together for now, oiled it up out of curiosity, clutch still not working so will see how it is with new bits. (yes will soak plates over night )
  15. maybe, got new set with plates etc tomorrow..
  16. I stacked them and they all sit sweet. However, Im just waiting to see if I can go pick up some new plates. Most look great but first and last look bad so will replace those and the worn friction plates. @husoi Also may replace springs as spec says 34.9 and these are closer to 38, heavy duty maybe but possibly why they get hot
  17. the basket is machined a little strange too and there isnt anything it can rub on,, as i say it ran fine..
  18. so thought i might as well just go look as advised. Maybe good I did.. now the bike did run fine so this didnt effect its running. but a couple of plates look like heat as got to them.. friction plates all within spec. free length of springs is bigger than haynes suggests.. which is odd.
  19. the nut comes free, then the screw wont move at all. Im hoping they just need to warm up etc, if not il strip them out and clean etc
  20. the spring is on, the photo was just to show the first husoi its not electric clutch.
  21. No, but that adjustment part wont adjust. The screw is solid. the cable is as it was with the right amount of slack, also tried it tight.
  22. Ive not touched any of the clutch in the rebuild, only the sprocket cover to clean, but it was like this before and after I cleaned it. clutch lever feels ok but Im sure it was a little softer before when it worked.
  23. I did say this was cleaned at the start mate, and it moves fine. ive not touched anything on that hence why I asked here as experience can be quicker than the haynes, which usually suggests strip downs.. Checking here is another tenner ish that Ive not got so little tricks first. Past events? yeah made a mistake on the drill but the tool explode was hardly my fault. @Mississippi Bullfrog sorry yes the terms used are backwards, but meaning the clutch is stuck, the rod doesnt move any futher in at the minute, but the actuator does move. I thought the lever felt a little tighter.
  24. Great il try all this and worst case is get the cover off.. thanks all
  25. Sounds like a good plan mate thankyou..
