  1. thats my thinking so will have to go look.
  2. Bonus thanks
  3. yeah and its showing as nearly full. does sound like oil not getting to the top doesnt it. was tempted to check oil filter in sump, another gasket though. and no doubt nuts wont come off lol
  4. thes the thingy yes
  5. ah yeah i saw that. glad thats working out ok.. how dirty was the oil pump thing in the sump?
  6. Im going too now. But just looking costs about £40 for a gasket so tried to hold off.
  7. what are you doing to it?
  8. i use the laserlites but do forget alot lol
  9. glad it helps. if i end up stripping the engine il photo or video it, more so to remember where stuff goes lol but will share
  10. Show off
  11. I do agree. Haynes manual ordered. Ive held off as just looking here and there means new gaskets at 30-40 quid a go. But at this point I cant see much other options than getting bits off. I may get the head off too if its not obvious from getting rocker cover off. Oil must be getting pumped somewhere as its getting to the stud I drilled once running, but i know that doesn't mean its getting everywhere it needs to be. Going to be a bumpy ride this one. So you may get some interesting photos as I go, which I hope will help someone else one day. (like just take it to a garage and dont buy bikes that need exhaust off to change oil filter)
  12. the thing is, it made this sound last time and that stud didnt leak at that time as the seal held although wouldnt torque up. so helicoiled it and the seal hasnt held. maybe the coil lets oil seep around it. a few said the cam chain tensioner could have got stuck, but unless welding would cause it then i doubt it. the area i drilled into is where the head stud runs and its not even meant to have much or any oil flow. tough one this i guess
  13. joined the group cheers
  14. the stud backs onto the head bolt, so can only have gone into that chamber. But agree there is a relationship between the drill mistake and the noise.
  15. Im thinking its something like that, although when I first assembled i didnt lose oil there as sealed it but the nut wasnt holding torque so had to helicoil it.. is that the top looking down? if so i drilled far side.
  16. it seemed too but i dont have a trained ear
  17. yeah, sounded different on the left side as if sat on the bike. i also turned it over by hand as suggested and couldnt hear or feel anything binding or scraping
  18. well, finally new helicoils and seals etc, sat in the rain most of the day,,STILL making a noise. all bolts tight and getting torque on them all.. one i drilled too far leaking oil so that needs sorting anyway, gunna bet helicoil helping it to leak. totally baffled now as wasnt noisy before.. I must have either affected something in the engine when drilled too far but not really sure how unless a bit of metal got somewhere. Or cam chain some how loose again due to loose bit of metal.. which would be nuts really. so here is the great sound I hoped not to hear today https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ug6t0njfaelrev/20210304_160546.mp4?dl=0 really pissed off.
  19. sounds like something I would do haha
  20. I know of another place that would just be full of pointless replies. at least here we can say it how it is. ask for help and admit if we cock up. I know there are things I could have done better etc. And alot of things I've doubled checked here. weather has been amazing today loads of bikes about, doing shopping obviously.
  21. Oh and it wasn't as loud today, mrs wanted to hear it so started it for her, and it was a little better to me haha. she wasn't too happy like. But fingers crossed its better soon. got new gaskets from wemoto this time. in case ebay ones are rubbish. one gasket wasn't even compressed. a couple of others were looking ok one side and not the other, so a more even approach to the tighten needed or they were crap gaskets. Might just stick some gasket seal on the top of the new ones too. its been a long road this one.. not had a drink all week so its a cold beer for me soon.. And I really appreciate the help. Its what makes this place so good to be in..
  22. it really wasn't tight on 2 to be fair. so one helicoil is in. the tap that came with kit isnt amazing but its done it. the other i need more access to will do another day. cheers #studmuffin
  23. exhaust back off. one gasket barely squashed, one stud was loose and one a slight bend already.. so ordering new gaskets and different studs all together.
  24. Id not know where to start. i imagine taking off a casing etc, but does that mean oil drain and new gasket?
  25. i saw that video, and the sound is similiar but fades with revs, mine gets worse. my sound just seems very extreme for a leaky manifold. but its new to me
