  1. @husoi @Ian Frog I never stripped the clutch or gears. Only the top was stripped and rebuilt. The rod on these appears to be 1 piece. Im hoping when I start it tomorrow its just a case of getting it warm and it freeing itself off. There isnt really anything else that could cause it has not touched it.. the only thing that part will have lost for a while is oil, and I believe not alot goes near it when stood anyway.
  2. Its not that fancy to have electric, its a cable and this mucky manual actuator.. this spins and pushes the rod. the rod wont go in any further at min.. (this is now cleaned lol) I will try getting the engine nice and warm, pull clutch in and see if it does anything.. but if put into first it will stall.. and clutch wont let the wheel move when off too so its not side switch.
  3. New oil. its a wired clutch to actuator and push rod, after that im clueless mate
  4. Hey, following the success of the rebuild the bike still wont engage clutch, or drop into gear without stalling.. Im still assuming oil and heat haven't freed off the plates maybe, but when checking the push rod, it doesnt move in at all... which I assume is how it works. it pulls out as normal. To test it wasn't the side stand switch I put it in gear while off, tried to turn the rear wheel with clutch in, wont budge.. any ideas at all before I start a long winded journey of clutch issues.. it did work until oil drainage(then not after first test with oil in) so I hoping its that.. before I took the engine out it wouldn't work either. #neverrainsbutpours
  5. I recently added a blink camera, £99 on amazon or £75 on sale. I got mine used for £40 and its brilliant. works on wifi, has batteries that last 2 years, sends alarm to your phone and you can talk through it like ring but alot cheaper. If buying second had make sure the previous owner takes the camera off his account (app) or it wont work. But its brilliant and 2 little screws to mount or suction mount to a window facing out (sound no good then tho). sorry to hear your crappy news.
  6. thanks guys
  7. She runs.. Had a little issue with neutral sensor wire, unrelated to the install but replaced that anyway. Apart from a few tweeks she should be fine.. There is a little tick noise but its yet to run properly and I need to top oil up and nip up exhaust after its had a warm up etc. Cam chain tensioner seemed ok, chain was tight but could be a thing for the future if tick continues. But happy enough for now.. cheers for the support. (sounds more of a tick on phones than the mac) https://www.dropbox.com/s/0e1h4gzz89ouao6/20210328_154258.mp4?dl=0
  8. Will do thanks
  9. Got the engine in the bike, almost done connecting everything up.. start up tomorrow.
  10. Yes, as mine is at the back of my house out of site, i turn it on then lock the door etc, get it to the front of the house ready to go. I like to at least have it warm enough to turn choke fully off. But at times we have the bikes running for a few mins before we go.. Ive read all the above and glad to see some clarity, ive never heard of anyone get a fine for there car being on (or bike). You see it alot in car parks etc as these days alot use their cars to charge laptops, phones etc. Also in summer some have it on to power aircon.
  11. the bottom bolt was a nightmare, loosened then turned in to seal, did the rest then all it would do is spin the damping rod. hours late an impact did it in seconds. otherwise a simple job.. (unless fit wheel then notice mudguard on the table)
  12. @husoi the clamp would have helped. seen a few do it with success
  13. I tried that, but to be fair didnt have the clamp. didnt go well.. il be buying the tool next time lol
  14. @James in Brum I got mine from wemoto, fast delivery and are to spec. The one thing I remember being the hard part was the bolt at the bottom that goes into the damping rod.Depending how you drain the oil, I poured out of the top with the spring out. Some then put it back under tension to take the loosened damping bolt out. But the damping rod sometimes just spins unless you have the right tool to hold it.. My savior was an impact driver that spun fast and got it undone. I tried wood in there and most other tricks and none worked, impact took 2 seconds. 4 hours trying.. seal driver off amazon well worth the £20 too, red rubber grease for the seals. any pits can be smoothed with very very fine sand paper (2500 grit plus)
  15. Ive never known anyone to worry about washing their car in the street. Ive done it most places Ive lived and done car repairs too. Worst case scenario is someone from the council would say you can't. the police wont care unless covering other cars in soap or snowfoam. As said, leaving a mess never goes down well. But basic soapy wash should rinse away. Snow faom would stay for ages and draw attention. Is that your main worry before buying a bike? Most worry about insurance groups, style to buy etc. Good luck
  16. Protesting to protect freedom is one thing, the Bristol lark was utter bullshit and set up from what Ive seen. Protests happen due to laws coming in to take away our voice, the right to say no but in a peaceful way. Violent protest solve nothing and this isn't what the law is targeting. Whether they should be out or not, most people can see their rights being taken away slowly and want to fight for it. To suggest peaceful people fighting for our/your rights need shooting is pathetic. People smashing up our country, hurting people, burning everything in the name of peace, yeah let them have it. Despite all the above, I guess the gov will do what they want when they want, but some laws and legislation's have been changed by Peaceful protests, and/or people actually speaking up instead of burying their heads in the sand thinking it will all brush over.
  17. The engine is out of the bike mate
  18. @fastbob @Ian Frog I know some do seem to taper in, these don't seem to. I had a practice run with old pistons and old block, was fiddly. And that was in ideal conditions. I do have a brilliant head torch that I use all the time. Ive got some plastic ready and tie wraps to make a compressor, but apart from seeing how they were made and added, Ive not seen how he fitted them and got these off. So,, I may just take my time and do it by feel. Using some wooden blocks to hold the block in place as I do it. Waiting for the gaskets to arrive still so basically going over and over the process. The Haynes manual is actually little help as it says you don't really need compressor as the pistons will find their way as such.. ok for the experts.
  19. Yes. Read up on piston ring gap placements and position. cheers will do
  20. Any advice on putting the block back on over the pistons would be great, I have seen a few videos of plastic bottles being used etc and a guy just got the pistons to slide up with a wiggle. at this point I want to take care and not mess up the pistons or liners. cheers @fastbob@TimR
  21. I agree, I did buy 8mm studs and brass nuts incase I went up a size. But I wont get to use those. Il have bits I need to sell on or try and return lol. But yes, will get brass as recommended. cheers. @TimR easy mistake when viewing photos.
  22. Dropped on a mint block and also a head. loads of spare bits too.. very lucky.
  23. ah right fair enough.
