  1. can I salvage the new filter or will I have to get a new one do you think ?
  2. jeeze I took out the new air filter and fired it up and it runs perfect ! well I double checked the Haynes and it said to coat it in oil until no drip come off it then fit ! So oil on the filter as Hodgy said caused the bike to run like it was on 2 cylinders Fortunatly it is nothing more serious but it sure scares the hell out of you when your bike stops running right ! Thanks to all those who replied as it really helps to have a little moral support I tried 1243 and it was just as bad but made little difference but the haynes said 1234 but my confidence in Haynes is a little wary now To Techno, I would love to be able to afford to put it in for a proper service but this way I can at least try to keep the bike in as good order as possible despite making mistakes along the way
  3. Ah Haynes said oil it ! Im gonna go take it out and see what happens ..............
  4. Gonna go check all those things cheers I fitted the restrictor and no jets it ran great before i restricted it and great after so I dont think its that ? Also wondering if It may be caused by too much oil on the air filter ? may try removing it quickly to see also
  5. Me and Engines dont get on Ok so I thought I can do a service of my bike, how hard can it be Brake pads all new and bled no problem, took out the restrictors no problem changed the Air filter no problem changed the plugs (few problems with gravel in the recesses which I got out ) and flushed out the old coolant (just fresh water in waiting on engine to flush that again ) Ok so now I need to warm up the engine to change the oil so put it all back together and start the bike... starts on choke runs like a bag of spanners with lots of smoke Now it worked perfectly before restriction and perfectly well after but now it doesn't so I took the plugs out again and put the old ones in, same thing happens clouds of smoke and running rough needing lots of throttle to keep it running. Plugs were quiet wet when I took them out so I put the new ones back in. Only thing I can think of at the moment is Have I got the HT leads on wrong ? It says in the manual left to right 1,2,3,4 which is what They are Any ideas before I make things worse ?
  6. Hopefully None ! I blew compressed air before fully taking out the plugs then put greese on my finger and tried to "pick up" as much as possible. Plugs were really rusty too !!
  7. Started doing my service today so thought I would start of with the easy bit, A Spark plug change ! Got two out went to the other side and the far plug socket had a stone stuck in the recess where the plug goesm wedged solid so I couldn't get the blooming socket on it Took me 40 minutes to get the stone out then it came out easy I noticed in the Haynes manual it mentions using compressed air to blow out loose stones from the plug recess but I never imagined how much gravel there was in there !
  8. I realised what that looked like just after I posted it but it was too late
  9. If it works out I hope you give me an Invite @mealexme just had a look at some of your vids and found them highly entertaining ! Great camera you have and much better quality than some of my efforts . "No oil in the engine" was the best but at least I didnt have a camera when I ran out of petrol so nobody saw my shame
  10. Michelin are the only tyres I feel totaly happy on Went out for my first wet ride on my pilot 2's the other day and the Michelins were the same in the wet as they were in the dry so apart from having to wipe my visor every few minutes it was a happy ride
  11. Bit gutted I bought the Organinc EBC now (I thought Organic meant I was buying something healthy ! ) fortunatly I dont use my Brakes much I started Homebrew again because I found out "they" can not tax it as alcohol is usually taxed because it is not alcohol till you make it ? I got Youngs Bitter, larger and Stout for £5.40 each which will work out REALLY cheap per Pint Pity TMBF rally isnt coming to Cornwall as I will have 120 pints !
  12. Thanks for the replies I have gone to tesco and got their own brand semi 10w40 for £18.25 which seemed reasonable and I think ill go for the EBC brake pads and get a basic filter and plug kit off ebay for £39 The best thing about getting the oil from Tesco was I discovered all their homebrew stuff was half price so I now have a couple hundred pints to make and drink
  13. When did this bike last have a proper service >? Maby if you did one and the problem still remains you will have eliminated a lot of the possible causes >? TRY THIS : โปรดแก้ไขรถของฉันมันจะไม่เริ่มต้นดี A mechanic should be able to fix it in any language but Thai is not that hard
  14. I saw the Lorraine pads £48 on Ebay I suppose they are worth the extra money as they are twice the price of gold fren ? Unfortunatly we dont have Gerike here in the sticks (I think Plymouth is the nearest) Which oil brand is better or are they all much the same ? like i hear people use own brands from halfords and Asda ?>
  15. Belive it or not my 2 year restriction is nearly at an end, two more weeks to go so I thought I would combine removing the Restrictors and give the bike a proper Service all in one go ! This will be the bikes first main service since new 12000 miles (despite it being an 03 plate ! ) So My question is : What brands to buy for parts ? Best value for money and decent quality : 1 Brake pads 2 Engine oil 3 brake fluid 4 filters 5 Spark plugs ....I guess NGK but who knows Its a Standard Mk1 Fazer FZS 600 for thems that dont know I have seen a few kits on EBAY and apart from the oil (due to postage )this is the most likely place I will buy all me bits from.
  16. I had a lot of jap bikes that I thought were good till I tried MY Fazer so now I am enjoying it so much I reckon on keeping it a fair while. Think if I do get a new bike it will most likely be electric by then
  17. I just noticed we seem to be going through the same bike list ! So we both had a XJ and now fazer so what do you reckon we will have next >?
  18. If that is your space then I would put a bike shed on it with a level floor and put it in there (reversing in)
  19. I am not a traffic cop but as I understand it you should have a full licence for your motorcycle with cat b on the counterpart as prov entitlement, I have never seen a prov licence with a full entitlement on it Motorcycle licence should be pink with A on the card front and on the rear the date test passed counterpart should have the entitlement to drive cat b and others with learner status I will check tomorrow though as now I am starting to doubt something I do every day :roll Having asked several of my colleagues at work re a provisional licence with full bike entitlement, I could not find anyone who has come across this before The consensus of opinion is that if you passed your test on a motorcycle you should have been sent a pink full driving licence with category A only on it with provisional entitlement to drive a car I am a bit confused as to why they have started adding full entitlements of vehicles to a provisional licence as this will cause a lot of problems when you have to produce your licence as all entitlements on a provisional are “provisional” I reckon that DVLA have made an error and not recognized the full licence status of your Category A but hopefully you still have the pass certificate from when you took your test
  20. cos its a scooter and coz its shagged ?

    Hiding...

Perhaps its the FEDS or VOsa or DVLA !
  22. Most likely RSI as carpel has pins and needles with it. Or its natures way of waking you up to getting an FZ1
  23. My thoughts also... Yeah people make mistakes but I am pretty certain that cameroon would be on the news banging on about how we need to execute people who neglect their kids or people who go out on the piss and leave their kids behind need locking up. His first and most important responsibilty is his child and not to mention the green issue of husband and wife taking seperate cars 5 miles up the road ! If this was for security reasons then they failed by loosing the daughter (perhaps she will now get her own car also ? ) Non story maby, but as its our nanny state prime minister I think it all a bit odd.
