    Bike MOT

I am actually happy to pay for an inspection on my bike every year and would do so wether it was a requirement or not I think it is pretty good value if the tester knows what he is doing
  2. Yeah nearer the time PM me and you can pop round for cup of tea (or simalar)
  3. Seems a bit off season for the camp sites but there are a few reasonable ones near me My thoughts are camp on Hayle towans then use the bluff to get hammered
  4. 1. no claims wont count for a bike 2.take motorbike test or cbt and you can ride a moped with your new car licence
  5. What you should do is make unreasonable sexual demands on her and then its basicaly a win win . Getting rid of woman is easy its keeping them thats the tricky bit
  6. Yes you can. You don't need a car licence to do your bike But if you take your test in a car you can then validate with a CBT and get automaticly a full moped licence: "If you passed your car driving licence from 1 Feb 2001 onwards, then you do not need to apply for a provisional moped licence as your driving licence was issued with a full category P entitlement. However you must do your CBT to validate the moped entitlement on that licence. Once you've completed the CBT you have a full moped licence and can ride mopeds without the learner rider restrictions. The DL196 certificate that you receive from doing your CBT in this case only expires with your driving licence when you turn 70. " Then again who wants to ride a moped
  7. She was found by her bodyguard .... bet he won't be getting a Bonus A bodyguard was found dead by his singer on the same day witney passed away
  8. Hi Danny, thanks for the comments leave the primer to cure at least 24 hoiurs (depending on temps) You must spray the clear coats within about an hour of your final colour coat as if you dont they wont bind and the clear coat may lift, bubble or craze. Everything else you said seems spot on Any other problems you get feel free to PM me
  9. You sound a bit like me on my return to bikes and the only thing that will really make you happy on a bike is when you start to get confident in your steed and that will come the more you ride, so get the CBT done (even if it takes a few goes) then get a bike and ride until you are happy enough to take a test.
  10. looks like a good deal .... I was thinking about a smart car for when the weather is REALLY bad !
  11. Sorry I was not clear The changes they are making are pretty dumb and what I was suggesting is at the present I think things are also dumb and the changes do not make much diference to the problem they are trying to solve. What you suggest, one test and staged restriction (albeit i think 100 bhp a little high) is a much better and fairer way to make the changes. I would think 15 bhp for a year then 33bhp for a year then 100bhp for a further year (or two) Only problem is someone could pass the test and then sit on the licence for a few years and go out get an R1 having only rode a 125 (as is the case now) so they need some kind of measure that the rider has gained some experience (hence tests) but maby there is a more radical solution like instead of time based it is somehow measured in miles ! 15 bhp 500 miles 33 bhp 2000 miles ect Not sure how this would work but I am sure there is a way
  12. More tests = more training = more chance of survival A big cause of RTCs is a failure to accept that in a majority of cases there is usually something the rider could have done to have avoided the collision. Anyone that fails to recognise that should read Roadcraft - its the police training manual for good reason http://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-Roadcraft-Police-Handbook-Motorcycling/dp/011341143X Putting myself in the fireing line I kind of agree Bogoff Although I think ALL bikers should go through the ranks and work their way up regardless of age. Start on a 125 then qualify a 250 then 500 then 1000 Its not just the young (who have less sence of danger than us oldies...Fact) I worry about the Older ones who never rode a bike( and did the hard yards) then pass das and get a 1000cc superbike as well. So Staged licence for all bike riders.... and as for cars ..... its a totaly diferent ball game, any fool can drive a car,all you do is twiddle your wrists and press the pedals ! Bikes take Skill to ride, like Aircraft, and they never give student pilots euro fighters to learn on, they start with a cessna
  13. Looking forwards to seeing the progress ...... you don't need to rush Why no fairings ? if they are all in good condition it may be worth doing them in case you decide to dress her up again ? It certainly looks like a project worth doing ! I like this one
  14. Can anyone explain SOA in a nutshell? I watched a series and although loved the concept, did not really understand a thing that was going on ! Maby if you missed the early ones its imposible to follow or maby I am too dense Do the plots seem way to obscure or is it me ? Got a SOA tshirt for christmas and think the opening music is Ace but counted 4 seconds of bike action in the last episode I watched as most of the "gang" seem to ride around in a tranny most of the time
  15. Interesting read. I think I will be buying CAR oil for my bike from now on
  16. Attended an RTC today and the woman driver said "its cos its friday the 13th" I said thats funny cos there was a collision yesterday and the day before and neither of them were Friday the 13th
  17. As long as you use the right oil I would imagine cheaper and often would be better but interested to hear what others say
  18. sounds like idle jet blocked ? have you tried increasing the idle knob ? does it idle ok with a little choke? If its fuel injected ignor my stupidity
  19. What about cats, dear, pheasants and the like? Though agree, it depends entirely on whether their vehicle had an effect upon the accident, if their vehicle had no involvement then cannot claim on their insurance. Only the animals listed count, it is just one of those weird law things. So hit an elephant and you do not need to tell the police Pushing a bike over would be vandalism, in Scotland anyway. Comes down to wether the animal is cultivated or wild I belive cats are considered wild pushing a bike over in Cornwall is also crim dam but if there is injury then I would say assault over criminal damage This is too random this thread
  20. The awnser is in the good old Section 170 of the road Traffic act : The key is" owning to the presence of a motor vehicle on the road" regardless of what happens, was it owning to the presence ? Yes, so there insurance will come into play. As techno said, If it is deemed a deliberate act to cause damage or injury to you by a passenger of a vehicle with his elbow then either Criminal damage, assault or possibly dangerous driving by the person allowing the offence to be commited (but that would be interesting) 170.—(1) This section applies in a case where, owing to the presence of a motor vehicle on a road, an accident occurs by which— (a) personal injury is caused to a person other than the driver of that motor vehicle, or (b) damage is caused— (i) to a vehicle other than that motor vehicle or a trailer drawn by that motor vehicle, or (ii) to an animal other than an animal in or on that motor vehicle or a trailer drawn by that motor vehicle, or (iii) to any other property constructed on, fixed to, growing in or otherwise forming part of the land on which the road in question is situated or land adjacent to such land. (2) The driver of the motor vehicle must stop and, if required to do so by any person having reasonable grounds for so requiring, give his name and address and also the name and address of the owner and the identification marks of the vehicle. (3) If for any reason the driver of the motor vehicle does not give his name and address under subsection (2) above, he must report the accident. (4) A person who fails to comply with subsection (2) or (3) above is guilty of an offence. (5) If, in a case where this section applies by virtue of subsection (1)(a) above, the driver of the vehicle does not at the time of the accident produce such a certificate of insurance or security, or other evidence, as is mentioned in section 165(2)(a) of this Act— (a) to a constable, or (b) to some person who, having reasonable grounds for so doing, has required him to produce it, the driver must report the accident and produce such a certificate or other evidence. This subsection does not apply to the driver of an invalid carriage. (6) To comply with a duty under this section to report an accident or to produce such a certificate of insurance or security, or other evidence, as is mentioned in section 165(2)(a) of this Act, the driver— (a) must do so at a police station or to a constable, and (b) must do so as soon as is reasonably practicable and, in any case, within twenty-four hours of the occurrence of the accident. (7) A person who fails to comply with a duty under subsection (5) above is guilty of an offence, but he shall not be convicted by reason only of a failure to produce a certificate or other evidence if, within five days after the occurrence of the accident, the certificate or other evidence is produced at a police station that was specified by him at the time when the accident was reported. (8) In this section "animal" means horse, cattle, ass, mule, sheep, pig, goat or dog. Other duties to give information or documents
