they are totally different frames and the way the engines sit in the frame ive never done it buy when you look at the 2 bikes side by side i would say it will be a lot of work to make it fit
  2. thing is with doing it yourself you have got to work out what the clearances are then order the shims to get it right where as a good dealer should have them on the shelf
  3. agree with stu about turning tap off and then run it untill it cuts out and leave it like that as then the petrol cant go off and block the carbs up and when the time comes to start it up again just turn the fuel tap back on and it will start after a few turns
  4. worth fitting on your new bike alex
  5. for peace of mind while waiting for the manual to arrive in the post stick a picture up on here for us to confirm what it is for you
  6. cat c is normally noted on the v5 document at the bottom and as said before there is no way to have that removed off the v5
  7. no spark could be the pick ups down on the side of the engine failed or the cdi unit check all the wiring and plugs from engine pick ups as well make sure none of the connector plugs have corroded
  8. would depend if they had gone tighter or looser if the adjustment has loosened (increased) the gap there would be a slight tapping from the top end of the engine
  9. if you want it done properly and for it to last then you have got to strip it right down and fully degrease it otherwise the paint will look crap after a while with bits flaking everywhere
  10. takanta on the forum might be able to help you as he has got a fazer that is 33bhp that he bought the kit for
  11. will be double element type bulbs so front indicators stay on as running lights you will need to find which of the wires going to them will turn off the duller element and if you can fnd any it would help to change the complete indicator units on the front at some point so you can then use normally single element bulbs
  12. first off you need to work out your gearing to make sure you get rear axle that is ok then convert axle to chain drive and shorten it one side and decide if you are going to work the axle mounts off the original swinging arm or build complete new rear lower frame section
  13. sealed beam type headlight is a light unit that is sealed and you can not get the element out to change it so when it blows the whole glass unit needs to be replaced
  14. cant see the pipe very well in the pics but i would imagine it is the engine breather it would of had a pipe on it going into the airbox if thats what i think you mean
  15. where you can see the wire folow that up to where it plugs in,unplug it and then use a bit of wire in to the plug on the main loom side going from one terminal to the other and see what happens then if it rides ok then the side stand switch could need replacing but it is also worth checking out the clutch cut out switch on the left handlebar where the clutch lever is to check if it has come loose as that could cause same problem, that is just a push and turn fit like a light bulb so make sure it hasnt come loose
  16. if it is making a churing sound after siezing then i would say it could well of damaged the crankshaft have you run it low on oil at some point, but like the others say its going to take some looking at and then possibly replacement engine unless you find it is something simple
  17. if i can sort things out i will meet up at bh otherwise will meet at rutland
  18. also check the carbs vaccum rubbers in the tops of the carbs as they are well known for tearing and perishing and the bike will not run right if they have any damage also the spark amplifiers that are bolted to the side of the battery tray or the frame near the battery cradle as they can melt the back out of them and then stop working
  19. the two feed wires on the rear of the coil are positive and negative they have nothing to do with making each cylinder fire as the coil sparks on both cylinders at the same time.it sounds more like the ht lead breaking down
  20. i would never replace just a sprocket on its own because if they were all fitted at the same time then the chain has excessive wear in it,and if it has got tight spots then i would replace the full set of both sprockets and chain otherwise in a few months time you will be changing them all anyway
  21. read the post above alex it says 1981 kh125
  22. being a 6 volt system more often than not the indicators wont flash unless you have the engine revving and when using the lights as well its not uncommon for them to flash very slow if at all

    help...

yep its a 4 stroke mega so got to agree with you and all the others sounds like it could be a cylinder head off job.but to the op before you go stirpping the engine down do a compression test on it easiest way without a gauge is remove spark plug and place your thumb over the hole as you turn the engine over it should try and blow your thumb off the plug hole, if it doesnt then its going to be engine strip down ,try and let us know how it goes
  24. should be there this week as ive had no phone call will be on red white blue and black blade black lid black jacket bike is p reg
  25. as far as i know its not a fail for having them but like others have said it will be safer to replace them anyway more so because the bike has been laid up and could do with fluid being replaced anyway
