  1. check carb slide is moving up and down as you open the carb and not to much play in the cable
  2. nothing can turn rust back into metal what it can do is put an oxide coating on the metal turning the rust black normally and halting the spread if you're lucky
  3. if the bike has overcharged the battery then it sounds like the recifier/regulator is on its way out you need to check the voltage at the battery with engine running and with revs just around 3000 rpm and you shouldnt have any more than 15 volts maximum if you have then you will wreck the new battery unless u sort out the reg/rec
  4. any bike shop will be able to supply a d i d chain and sprocket set for your bike
  5. are the reed valves operating correctly if they have stuck it will give the same symptoms
  6. have you checked the water level in the engine as it sounds like its over heating seizing up then freeing off and starting up again, when the belt broke id didnt damage temp gauge switch or a water way on the engine did it?
  7. dont go putting neat fuel into cylinder it will cost you an engine (again) have you got fuel flowing out of the fuel tap?if so is it getting into the carb open drain screw at the bottom and see if any fuel runs out of it if not float height need to be checked and corrected,if u r getting fuel into the carb then you need to check the idle jet and needle height set up,mixture screw on the side of the carb should be set at 1 3/4 turns out for basic set up and run
  8. dont just tighten it as that can do more harm than good make sure you set it at the correct tension at the tightest spot of the chain as you rotate the wheel normally thre will be a part of the chain with a tight spot set adjustment on that bit also make sure chain is well lubed up and not running totally dry
  9. welcome to the forum pop into newbies and say hi if you are planning on sticking around as we are a friendly bunch and it sounds like you havent lined the clutch arm up correctly
  10. change the sprockets as well if the chain is worn out so are the sprockets
  11. no reason why they wont fit the rev counter has the same internals and the speedo is the same as well just in different casing you might need to modify mouning bracket unless you get the gn one as well
  12. can be that if its not allowing the rotor to spin properly when kicking the engine over it wont generate a good or proper spark as the h100 relies on the rotor to spin to operate the points
  13. have you dropped the plug at all as this can damage the ceramic part and cause the failure to spark
  14. check the basics first like chain tension, loose shield on exhaust, and anything slightly loose that could vibrate
  15. is that a brass carb jet under the float at the top of the pic and if so i would say its meant to be in the big hole and that will be the cause of it not revving as it will be just flooding
  16. where it bolts onto the engine i would clean the bolts up using wire brush or similar and then soak in wd40 or other penetration fluid overnight as this will lessen the chances of bolt shearing as you try to undo it
  17. first thing is ther are lots of different handlebars will fit the bike the rev counter glass being broken is a bit harder to solve unless you find a rev counter on ebay and use that and as for gears have you checked oil levels and clutch adjustment, might need oil change and clutxh adjusting also if its been sat arounda long time it wil be worth oiling the cables up as they will dry out and start to stick over time causing t he clutch to drag slightly and same with all the cables
  18. that was how i read it as well stu hence saying change plug and cap
  19. when you look around the rear engine mounting bolts can you see an earth wire going from mounting bolt to frame normally down on the right hand side to make sure the engine is giving a good earth for the engine, might be worth checking out and if not just drop a mounting bolt nut off and put an earth tag from bolt to frame and see what happens
  20. well if you are getting a spark by holding lead to earth but not once the cap is on and plug fitted i would take the plug and cap and replace them both and see what happens then also trim the ht lead back a fraction before fitting new cap
  21. might be wrong here i often am but surely with tread pattern right to the edge of the tyre it means it has got better water displacement in the rain/wet giving you more grip rather than less
  22. just get a 15amp glass fuse there is only the one needed wont make much difference if its fast blow or slow blow................if its gonna blow then theres no go after untill you change it again and if it keeps blowing then you got something wrong in the wiring
  23. is there oil or water present in the area the burning smell is coming from which could be due to gasket failure?
  24. check starter solinoid to make sure thats working ok as they are known to be trouble on some bikes and check wires and connections going to it as well
  25. whre the throttle cable comes out of the twist grip is there an adjuster on it there otherwise ther could be one where it is connected to throttle body or will be a screw on the side of the throttle body
