  1. make a wooden block to the shape you need it to be as a mold then clear perspex sheet warmed up and pressed over mold sorted
  2. have you got the swinging arm and drive shaft still in place as you will need t o line up the shaft drive with the bevel gearbox to allow the engine back far enough to locate correctly
  3. well adam on here will tell you his one was a nightmare to keep on the road so much so he got rid in the end the powervalve might be cable operated and just needs new cables or it could need stripping out of the exhaust to sort out cant tell untill you start looking
  4. power valve is not easy job to sort out starter motor is easy speedo cable is easy if thats the problem but look very carefully at it find out why starter motor stopped working or if it is turning engine over but not starting compare frame number on bike to the one on the v5 also engine number if they dont match bike to v5 walk away i see the fairing is damaged and offside mirror missing finding a fairing in good nick will be hard job as most of the bikes will be front end damaged
  5. well at a guess i would say the big red wire in live feed in check with voltmeter
  6. just g o into local motorbike shop and ask for plug cap for your bike they should hand ayou a box witih ngk written on it then follow what fro said to fit it
  7. i wouldnt touch it personally if you look at what good ones are going for thats far to cheap
  8. shouldnt need to touch starter clutch to change the plates as they are just inside the clutch casing and housed in their own cage seperate from starter clutch
  9. also is it a vacuum type fuel tap?as that might have hole in hose from engine to fuel tap
  10. i say old chap steady on what what.basic works can be helped by a manual so often many folk are hinted at to buy one it has nothing to do with not being bothered and to be a new member and telling older members they shouldnt be here will not get you a lot of help from others a pic of the relay and also part numbers might help but it if only had one led indicator before maybe the last owner wasnt to worried so you can always change all 4 for led and see how they flash and then fit relay if needed, you will also be able to tell if the unit you are looking at is the relay by unplugging it and see if the indictors still work
  11. never heard of a startermotor powerband the powerband is made by power produced by the engine and a valve in the exhaust and ths starter motor starts the engine and has othing to do with creating a 'powerband' ? i would go ask a few more questions of the seller to be honest
  12. looking at parts list for the xv535 the engine should mount up faily easy with plates at the top front of frame and then one long bolt at rear and then 2 top mounts off to tube of frame near the rear of the engine
  13. do you know when the air filter was last cleaned/replaced as that is the first thing to check
  14. never heard of them personally i would go with ebc or something similar
  15. friction plates about £10 each steel plates about £6 each roughly would be worth ringing about to ask prices
  16. dont forget you can only get 6 points in the first 2 years of having your full licence before you get a 6 month ban and have to retake any tests you have already passed so the question is ...............is a few cc and a few mph extra worth the risk in my opinion no its not but at the end of the day its your choice
  17. a big bore kit takes it over the legal cc size for a learner it would be fine if you had passed your test and declared the mod to insurers who would then rape you over price to insure it as a modified bike
  18. i would replace both sets of plates at same time as the steel ones might have slight warpage or curves to them
  19. the engine cc is clearly stamped on the barrel for everyone to see so any copper with any bike know how would spot it and thats your licence gone due to no insurance no licence for that size bike and in any accident insuance would be void as well so like others said might as well not have any
  20. well done both of you now get out there and enjoy the 2 wheel lifestyle
  21. hi and welcome to the forum please pop into newbies and introduce yourself and stick around joining in the general banter that happens on one of the best forums online you can et all the parts you need from here http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gsf400-1991 ... ml#results ,wemoto might do them as well and also robinsons foundry in kent
  22. did u take the carbs apart when you cleaned them and if you removed all the jets are you sure you tightened them all correctly when putting them back together i had similar problem on a big single cylinder 500 years ago was running fine then ticked over ran on low revs butsoon as it got to need main jet fueling it died pulled carb apart and main jet had rattled loose
  23. engine problems arise due to lack of care normally like running them out of oil or on very cheap 2 stroke oil and thrashing them from cold instead of allowing the engine to warm slightly
  24. this is happening in lincs if anyone interested http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/events/W ... -night.htm
  25. those units fitted to the bike already are led units hence why you cant find bulbs to fit,you will either have to replace all 4 with standard indicators using standard bulbs or go with more led ones and put a relay in for them
