  1. most garages will charge you about £40 for the labour to change the seals if you supply the parts as its only 1/2 hour per fork to change the seals
  2. use some stud lock on the threads that should help the problem
  3. if they are standard forks no real problems with them inverted are slightly diferent but still no big hassle to do only use genuine suzuki seals in my opinion as lots of pattern ones seem to leak
  4. condition of air filter might be good place to start sounds like it could be choking up
  5. some great pics of old race bikes there well done
  6. thing is the cruiser style of bike is meant to have far to much shiney stuff on it losing some wont hurt but i wouldnt lose it all unless u plan on never reselling the bike as all it does is make it harder to sell on due to it not having the said bling
  7. for getting the frame powder coated it will be a lot quicker and easier to get it bead blasted as that will remove all the old paint and the rust everywhereready to get coated straight away unless any frame repairs/welds are needed
  8. need cable adjusting then by the sound of that last statment
  9. just wait for rally pics to be put up on show bound to be some sillyness there as there normally is
  10. hiya and welcome to the forum did he only change the friction plates or the metal plates as well?is the clutch cable moving freely when not conected as they get gummed up inside and that can stop them moving and makes the clutch slip?
  11. keeping the choke on slightly will cause it to run hotter quicker as well altho water cooled bikes still rely on a certain amount of airflow/movement to keep cool and the fan only normally kicks in when natural airflow isnt there
  12. just go to post office with mot insurance and v5 fill out one form get your tax disc...............sorted
  13. check the earth tags around the back area of the bike as there might be a bit of corrosion got in over the winter
  14. check on the disc's it will have minimum thickness stamped into them see what it it is (normally 4mm) then measure yours it might be that you just need pads
  15. there is meant to be a plastic cap on/over it thats all nothing else so dont panic
  16. just had a look at part numbers part numbe you want is 45200415613 this is the same on most of the 250,s and 400,s of the day and the cx500 but is different to the goldwing
  17. you will want a caliper off of a 250 or 400 (left hand side as the 400 is twin disc) dream or super dream not sure if the 400/4 on is the same but that will be even rarer to get hold of must be some on ebay cheap enough surely, also check out the cb250 rs and the old 750/4,cx500 and the early 1000cc goldwing just check measurements between your bolt holes andask whoeveer you are getting it from to just measure to check they are same distance apart and size hole
  18. yep got to agree with alan on this now knowing how much slack you have got its time to replace them as a full set both sprockets and the chain not worth changing one without the other as it makes new bit wear twice as fast and could still be dangerous
  19. depends on how old the chain is but you need to tighten it at the tight spot for correct adjustment otherwise it will be fine most of the cycle then very tight round tight spot which could cause it to break
  20. i did reply to the pm you sent me about it
  21. fuel will come out of prime with and without the engine running but the on and reserve positions it should be closed off and no fuel coming out unless engine is running, anotherway to test it without running the engine is to put a hose onto the vacumm pipe of the fuel tap tuen the tap to the on position and suck on the vacuum pipe if no fuel comes out then the tap needs checking out
  22. they all go past my front door every saturday morning
  23. i would start with the fuel cap breather, run the bike untill it cuts out open the fuel cap as quick as you can and see if you get a hissing or whoosh type sound of a vacuum being unlocked once you have opened the cap close it again and see if bike will start
  24. the neta pipe is a direct swap for the original pipe and its made by motad they normally work fairly well are you sure the baffles havent collapsed inside causing a restriction of some kind?and the early gsxr might fit but will have to be off the old slabby models so could be very hard to find
  25. have you squirted some wd40 down the key hole as it might be trapping water in and not allowing the barrel to turn properly
