  1. Anyway guys Thank you for all your advice and support I will let you know the future plan when I have one.........
  2. Yes I understand that and as you say its important.... instructors dont seem to think I have a problem really and I have had 2 or if they did they arent saying ..and I am now reasonably confident and feel happy with my m/c driving so dont really Know what more to do............obviously not as good as someone with the freedom to practice at will over time but I think not awfull either ...but I am really bored of driving around and around Lincoln test routes with my head bobbing from side to side every two mins
  3. No I have been taking the tests in Lincoln. but following on from 4 attempts to get the mod 1 - I am getting rather test and lesson weary now as i have been doing it since feb. (strange thing is i have had a car licence 40 years of heavy mileage driving and not had an accident)
  4. Yes come to think of it your right as I havent even began to learn how to knit yet either
  5. Thank you for the optimism...I'm going to give it a few days and think it over also not sure if i should take it in a different area or request a different examiner... this one is beginning to bug me now
  6. Took my Mod 2 again today for the THIRD time....despite feeling good and prepared and that the ride went well I FAILED Ist attempt - failed for being to close to a lorry as I came off a roundabout on a dual carriageway 2nd attempt-(Decided to keep well back from lorries and tankers)Failed for failing to overtake tractor - towing a tanker on narrow country road so was a bit hard to see with the trees and overhanging branches etc 3rd attempt-today- failed for apparently pulling back in too early after overtaking a lorry on dual carrieageway So any advice- having done 5 day das course and loads more days/ hours for the retakes, spent a fortune and used up all my annual holiday...... should I a) save up and buy a 125 to practice on and go for restricted option b)save up and try again (no gurantee) c) give it up as a bad job and take up Knitting
  7. Thanks for that......... Yes I'm looking for a good trainer to add a bit of polish. I'd prefer to stay in my area but Im also interested in hearing of personal reccomended trainers that arent too far away
  8. Having failed my Mod 2 test twice now I've taken a months break from riding and I want to try again and to finaly nail it next time..can anyone reccomend a good trainer in the east midlands? Also what do people think of taking training out of known surroundings or another area...would you consider it a disadvantage during a test Any advice is welcome
  9. I think engine turns over when its hot but doesnt start, once cold again it starts and runs until its hot again then stops
  10. I saw this bike for sale on ebay as a possible cheap learner-Honda CG125.Apparently the bike has been stood for a few years. It has been cleaned up and is ready for an MOT but when the engine warms up it cuts out and will not start again untill it cools down. Anyone any suggestions what it could be? Could it be as simple as a sticking choke or does it sounds morre serious like a head gasket?
  11. I failed my mod 2 test so what do i know but in the interests of the discussion I would say on number 4 -manourver then slow down- I picked up a minor on my failed mod 2 test for not carrying/maintaining the adequate pace far enough. Re lifesavers - I now see it as ' look the side you are going to move into but doing an extra on the other side beforehand would not be wasted on the test.costs nothing to do and if you are actually looking as you do them it should reassure you that you know what is around you before you monourve and ease off the throttle good luck or should I say Good Look !
  12. I will be doing the full license as I am 30 years old, whats the point of doing the restricted one. From experience I know that unfortunately most companies want to sell you as many hours/days of training as possible. I feel very confident at riding my 125 now, I have no issues with anything imo, 10 years driving a car also helps. Over 1100 miles commuting in South London in the last 3 months. From what I read on the website (company I want to do the training with) 3 days training course is . 1st day - on the road on 125 (just like for mod2 but on 125) 2nd day - practice mod1, 3rd day - practice for mod2, As u understand it- This would give you the restricted licence but you would have to practice on a 500cc if you want the non restricted licence
  13. Hi, not particularly familiar with sym 50 but from what you say it'd be worth checking the engine start switch itself......... ie either check for continuity (when its operated) with a circuit tester or short the wiring on the switch out to see if the engine turns over when you do.... food for thought!
  14. the bike might have been stored for a long period without using a battery tender. This type of battery doesn't like to be fully discharged and they won't hold a full charge again. EDIT: after reading your above post it sounds more intermittant, so i'm wondering if there's a loose connection?Check the battery terminals aren't corroded and are attached/secured properly . yes, I agree too- "Check the battery terminals aren't corroded and are attached/secured properly" would be the first thing to check as flat but good batteries stay flat until charged Good Luck
  15. Good luck with your Mod 2 and well done for sticking with it
  16. Well having done my CBT and theory and an intensive 5 day course I took my first mod 1 test back in March. My confidence was high I felt good, ...........................I did the handling, slalom, figure of eight, acheived the speed at the R.H. avoidance test without hitting the cone and stopped in the box okay , u turn, emergency stop, slow ride etc... all seemed okay- my clutch control felt good throughout, I kept the rev's busy... no foot down on the u turn and I think I had got the speed on the emergency stop......... result I failed 1 major, no minors as I had not taken the second lifesaver just before comitting to the u turn. Dam! Never mind next time, it had all felt good just a silly loss of focus during the U turn due to concentrating on the turn and control Another few hours of lessons to keep my hand in and I quickly booked and took my 2nd Mod 1 test.... More nervous this time ..not quite so confident..... I did the handling, slalom, figure of eight, , u turn, emergency stop, slow ride etc... all seemed okay- my clutch control didnt feel so good throughout, again I kept the rev's busy... no foot down on the u turn and remembered both lifesavers I think I had got the speed on the emergency stop..acheived the speed and much much more 60kph at the this time L.H. avoidance test but as I had slightly clipped the cone on the avoidance it was all by now academic Again few hours of lessons to keep my hand in and I quickly booked and took my 3rd Mod 1 test. Extremely nervous this time ..not confident and rightly so i did exactly the same as last time and clipped the cone again...i had become focused on the dam speed machine and saw the cone too late. Yet another few hours of lessons to keep my hand in and I quickly booked and took my 4thMod 1 test.... More nervous than ever this time ..didnt sleep not confident..... my clutch control was awfull I jerked around the slalom, jerked around the figure of eight, did the emergency stop and avoidance without clipping cones, wobbled along the slow speed but ticked all the boxes and to my surprise passed Mod 2 here I come
